“Our basic difference is that you believe obedience is necessary in order to be saved,
whereas I believe obedience is the result of salvation.”
Yes that’s why I quoted those scriptures . to show you why biblically I believe that those who don’t obey the gospel won’t be saved.
“and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:”
2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 KJV
And yes that seems to be your position or one of them . That if a person is already saved , they’ll then be able to hear and believe the gospel….
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16 KJV
V go preach the gospel to everyone if they are saved already they’ll believe and let you baptized them in my name . And if they are already damned , tbeyll
Not be able to hear believe and be saved .

But again, you read the statement...everyone who believes and is baptized shall be saved as causal. If one believes and gets baptized, then the result is salvation. To me it is merely a statement of truth. In other words, when the gospel is shared, there are 2 outcomes. The first is that people get saved, and this is evidenced through faith and obedience. A second outcome is that people do not get saved, and thus do not believe.
If, in fact, salvation is of grace, and the individual does not contribute to their salvation, I don't see how believing and getting baptized, or any other requirement for salvation falls under grace and not works.
