They confuse the reality when they see the word "works."
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
They fail to see what was taking place when that was written. For religious legalism was rampant in in the ancient world.
One example: the Pharisees collectively were an issuer of promoting works that one must do to be saved!
That is how we get to see the word "works." Works = plural.
Works = system of man-designed deeds that one must do in order to earn salvation from God.
Because the anti works crowd can not discern the difference? They have misconstrued that any work is forbidden.
Even the *one work* Jesus prescribed for salvation!
John 6:28-29
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
The disciples inquired of Jesus to see what his system of works might be.
They asked just as many Jews did with the Pharisees. Its why we see in the Gospels people asking Jesus what works they must do to inherit eternal life.
Only one work! Not a system of works!
“This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
There we have it
Salvation "de-Calvinized!"
