Jesus’ words in John 6:65
Why did Jesus say what he did in John 6:65?
He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”
Because! The Jews who were about to stop following Jesus where seeking salvation by works. That is why they sought out "Rabbi Jesus" to see what set of works he would give them to do to be saved by.
Its why Jesus zapped them with one work that saves that He well knew would cause them to depart away from from being the dead weights they were following him around.
Here is the 'work' Jesus gave them to do knowing full well they could not handle it!
John 6:56-60
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one
who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down
from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this
bread will live forever.” He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”
To eat his flesh and to drink his blood would be to have believed in Him onto salvation!
Jesus proclaimed not seek salvation by works.
But by God's drawing each one of us into the knowledge of what would be needed to have eternal life!
God drawing us does not mean God only draws those who get saved! It means it the process God uses
as a means to determine who He will save!
God's drawing is not irresistible! For men mentioned in Romans 1:18-22 were in the process of God drawing
them, and they willed to suppress the truth the drawing provided them, and replaced the truth with a lie!
Romans 1:18-22
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness
of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God
is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world
God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being
understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but
their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed
to be wise, they became fools
Note!
.. since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them...
These men were being drawn by God!
They resisted, and rejected God's drawing!
Calvinism has really done a number on the body of Christ by interjecting dogmatic induced confusion into the minds of believers.
The truth makes you free.
.. since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them...
God does the work in drawing us.
But, his drawing is not irresistible.
That is why God is free to judge and condemn all who reject Jesus Christ!
For they are personally accountable to God for rejecting His drawing them!
