Our souls were baptized into bodies of depravity at birth.
Yet our same soul could have been born into a body as Adam had before Adam fell.
Its our flesh we inherited from Adam that cripples our soul's perception and volition.
Its like one wanting to grab onto something, but his arm will not work properly.
Its like not sensing heat that would harm you.
We are blind spiritually from birth and can not know God, though we may hear about God from another.
That hearing about God from another is where God's grace enters and enables us to seek for what we can not yet see.
What is the cure for our depraved and spiritually malfunctioning prison our soul was born into?
Grace and truth combined as to counter the spiritual deafness and blindness of the body.
God's enabling power to be made able see and hear about reality as God sees reality.
If we were total depravity? Our soul could not please God even if our soul were placed inside a sinless body.
For our soul would be depraved as well.
Depraved because our soul is a slave to the body. But, the soul is not innately sinful when free from the body.
God holds every soul He provides grace (to be momentarily free of the sin nature) to be held accountable for
the choices that each soul makes while grace was making that soul free to think for itself.
Grace is not what causes right choices. Grace provides the power to be free to make a right choice.

Romans 7:14-20
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer
I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell
in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot
carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this
I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it
is sin living in me that does it.
