Sure, since none of us can procure righteousness on our own merit. But scripture says that Abraham's faith was counted for righteousness. That is, in lieu of righteousness, God considers faith (in Christ) as sufficient to be counted aas righteousness.Salvation and righteousness are both gifts in the scripture.

Jesus told many. You do not hear because you do not believe
John 6:28,29
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Salvation isn't an idea. It has reality. The same with grace and faith. The idea of each did originate with God, but so does the reality of them. In other words, the idea of salvation isn't the gift; the reality of salvation is the gift.
I have no problem with the idea of salvation originating with God. I must have misunderstood your post.PaulThomson said:
"We are saved by grace through faith" This is not of ourselves. It is the gift of God.
If that we are saved by grace through faith [in Christ] is not of ourselves, what more could it be referring to as being not from us, other than the idea of God saving us by grace through faith? What do you have in mind?
For this (salvation by grace through faith) to be "of ourselves" it would have to begin as our own idea, before God had the idea. God would have to get the idea from us for it to be of ourselves.
I'm not shipwrecking, you siren of MerSee, you, shepherding only yourself.Correct faith.
I don't hear him, because he is not in this realm. It must mean that I am damned.Really. That's news to me. Where did he say this?
Salvation is the gift in Ephesians 2:8 not faith. There is some myth that faith, an act of free will, is a gift of God.Salvation by grace through faith, and that is faith in God and not in ourselves, as much as anyone would like to argue differently.

When people insist on correcting what they perceive as my error... are only revealing that that they can see twat.Salvation and righteousness are both gifts in the scripture.

But the other fold tells us they aren't Jews. So who are they?

Are you saved, being saved, or to be completely saved? According to James White, it isn't about the prevention of death, but about the afterlife. Perhaps, it isn't my faith/trust, but others misfaith in things unnecessary.Perhaps your understanding is clouded as you state you are unsure of your faith.
We, who ARE sure of our faith, understand that we are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
