Sure, since none of us can procure righteousness on our own merit. But scripture says that Abraham's faith was counted for righteousness. That is, in lieu of righteousness, God considers faith (in Christ) as sufficient to be counted aas righteousness.
The word "that" underlined is "hina"and means in order that, so that. The text is not saying that the work of God is believing on him whom God hath sent.
It is saying that something mentioned earlier is the work of God, and the purpose of that work is to enable people to believe on Him whom God sent.
The work mentioned earlier is " Labour... for the food that endures to aeonous life." We are to labour to be in a position to hear the word of God, so that we may believe on Him whom God sent.

I have no problem with the idea of salvation originating with God. I must have misunderstood your post.
Salvation by grace through faith, and that is faith in God and not in ourselves, as much as anyone would like to argue differently.

Perhaps your understanding is clouded as you state you are unsure of your faith.
We, who ARE sure of our faith, understand that we are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Agree this particular text does not support faith being a gift from God, having stated this it neither an act of the will.

Are you saved, being saved, or to be completely saved? According to James White, it isn't about the prevention of death, but about the afterlife. Perhaps, it isn't my faith/trust, but others misfaith in things unnecessary.
