Why does Jesus say go and sin no more.

The law reveals our state ... sin = death
But we do not continue to sin.
By grace God will help us to be free from sin.
Your lying, you cannot stop yourself from sinning.

Jesus told them to sin no more, knowing full well, that is exactly what they would do, keep sinning.

Your sinful ways are meant to drive you to the cross.

The more you sin the more your knees bend.

The more you sin the more you look to Jesus.

Till one day you fall flat on your face and surrender, you give up trying to obey.

That's the day when you utter what Paul said.

Romans 7:24-25
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

That's the day when there is no condemnation.

Romans 8:8
Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.

I said love is the basis of the law...
Because Cain didn't love his bro he murdered him.

Thou shalt not murder.
Got it wrong again.

Cain did not love his brother and that's the real sin Cain committed.

The murder itself was the result of not loving his brother.

You have it in reverse.

No..
Prove this please...

The laws like circumcision and sacrifices and ceremonial laws were added because of sin.
Sin is the transgression of the moral law.
The moral law has always been there to define sin.

Once sin became practiced, God introduced more laws to help us understand sin and the solution.
[Deu 31:23-26 KJV] 23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee. 24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, 25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, 26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
The “law of Moses” was put in the side of the ark. Where were the Ten Commandments placed?

The law does have a purpose -it shows us our sins and to show how one is to live so we are not depending on our standard of righteousness but God’s Psa 119:172. The law can’t save, it just shows us our sins. Romans 7:7 Romans 3:20. And the law points us to Christ that when we commit sin or break God’s law we can go to Him for forgiveness and scarification. When Jesus forgives He says go and sin no more. What is dangerous is covering our sins because in doing so we can’t prosper Pro 28:13 by going to Christ for His forgiveness when repenting and to receive His mercy, grace and sanctification. While I agree we can’t keep God’s law on our own, we can though Him as all things are possible through Christ including overcoming sin- if we fall along the way Jesus is now our High Priest and instead of making an animal sacrifice Jesus covers us with His blood, but we too must die of our old self (sin) and be walking in Christ. He doesn’t make us obey alone, but it requires our cooperation John 14:15-18 and Jesus tells us He has a people who overcomes Rev 14:12
Until God transforms our thinking, we will see the law as a pathway to pleasing Him. It never was made for this. We can do nothing without Him, and until we realize this, we will never grow in His grace.

So is disobedience to His commandments the pathway to pleasing Him and ignoring His plain teachings. John 14:15 Mat 19:17-19 Mark 7:7-13 Mat 15:3-14 Mat 5:130

There is nothing stopping Christ transforming us now (expect ourselves Heb3:7-8 ) though His Spirit. John 14:15-18 who He gives to those who obey Acts 5:32

Jesus in His own Words said disobedience to God’s commandments is the path that leads one in a ditch Mat 15:14 which means off the narrow path that reconciles us back to Him Rev 22:14 so will have to agree to disagree. If we love and have faith in Jesus we would want to do all that He ask of us.

You need to seriously improve your understanding of the law.

The law not only declares that you are sinful, the law tells you that you cannot change.

You are dead in your sin, you have been condemned. It killed Paul, how come it did not kill you?

Romans 7:9
I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin came to life, and I died.

The law achieved it's real purpose, it killed you.

Dead men cannot rise and try and obey the law again.

The law is the executioner.
The role of the law is to show us our sin Romans 3:20 Romans 7:7

The law cannot change us only Christ can, His Spirit enables us to obey Him though our love and cooperation John 14:15-18 1 John 5:3

The law is the standard of righteousness- His righteousness Psa 119:172 and what we will all be judged by James 2:10-12

Christ is the executioner Rev 20:11-15 Heb 10:26-30 based on our deeds and choices. The law just shows us our deeds Romans 3:20 Romans 7:7 and reveals our condition. It’s up to us what we do with our condition- we can continue in sin which leads to death or be obedient to God and become a slave to Him- which leads to righteousness Romans 6:16 the choice is ours to make which path we end up on but the one that chooses Christ and submits to His will Psa 40:8 Rev 14:12 reconciles back to Him Rev 22:14

How is His Spirit who enables us to keep His commandments our work. John 14:15-18 Our work is when we rebel against Him and His commandments. This is depending on our righteousness (works) and not God’s righteousness Psa 119:172 and work instead of God’s Exo 32:16 Heb 8:10

Righteousness is a component of God’s love. Everything emanates from Him. Our acceptance or rejection of His gifts affect our position. Here is something I borrowed from a friend. See if it makes sense to you:

God's Love is not like human love; human love you can lose. God's Love you cannot lose. God loves the people in hell, and even Satan, just as much as He loves Christ, the Holy Spirit, and Himself. For Absolute Love never varies based on the object. Only Justice varies with the object, since we are all different, and Justice must insure Consistent, Competent FAIRNESS. A thing is only fair if matched to the justice requirements and needs of the object. So only God can truly be fair, since only God can know enough to BE Fair. Omniscience insures He knows Everything, so no incompetence is possible.

Almost every time you see the word "love" in the Bible, it's mistranslated. Should read "Divine Love", not merely Love. God's Love is Absolute, so is not emotional. Not changeable. Love loves to be competent, and hence always operates within JUSTICE. Folks are extremely uncomfortable with the idea that God has to execute Justice. They don't understand that His Love means absolutely nothing, if He can't be Perfectly Righteous. What seems like cold-Judge thinking is in fact the Absoluteness of Love. Your flaws don't dent God's Love. Your attractive qualities don't influence His Love for you either. So you CANNOT EVER LOSE His Love. But if you reject His Love, Justice requires you receive different judicial treatment. But the Love is still there. God's Head Sovereign Integrity IS His Love. Virtue is the backbone of Love, and Righteousness/Justice is the attitude of Virtue, and Love loves Virtue because Virtue is Competent. God is all ONE, here: His Attributes aren't divided. So Justice is Love, too. Absolutely.

God never stops loving us and never lets go of us, we let go of God when we choose self over Him

Love to God according to scripture is though obedience. 1 John 5:3, John 14:15 Exo 20:6 John 15:10. It’s no different than love to our spouse or parents- If they ask us to do something- do we show them love and respect by ignoring their request or by doing what they ask. I don‘t understand the resistance to obeying God the way He asks. Jesus gave us everything and its unloving to not obey Him. Jesus even showed us the Way and lived by example Heb 4:15 1 John 2:6 but its seems people want one way love- what God does for us and no relationship can survive on one way love. Scripture tells us it won’t. 1 John 2:4 Rev 22:15

That’s why Jesus prefaces IF you love Me, keep My commandments. He even gives us a Helper, and yet people still choose self over obedience to God. Our objection to God’s law is really not a good sign Romans 8:7-8 but He gives us free will, choosing our own path instead of trusting Him. Disobedience separated man from God Isa 59:2- God does not change- that same path will lead to the same result. Heb 4:11 Romans 6:16 but having faith to do what He asks leads us back to reconciliation Rev 22:14

Thanks for the chat- doesn’t seem like we are going to agree so I will leave it as I wish you well in seeking Truth to His Word. God bless

James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Rev 22:14 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

If we are doers of His Word we would be in complete submission and would be obedient to everything He asks. There would be no rebellion to His commanemnts as we would be in harmony with Him

Isa 48:18
Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Same argument. NO ONE can do anything apart from God—So it is GOD that is actually accomplishing His work in us.—NOT US doing anything—we simply agree. Our thoughts and motives precede any action we make—so really, it is our Divine thinking that makes us acceptable. Our actions are just the result.

We are responsible for our own actions, God is not. We make the choice to want to come to Him and obey Him- it requires our cooperation- He said IF we love Him, keep My commandments John 14:15 because it’s conditional on our cooperation. Acts 5:32
32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and soalso is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

He will be the one who enables us to do so by changing our heart,, but to think we can live the way we want and not have any part of submitting to God and ignore His inspired Word of instructions for righteousness and correction like James 1:22, John 14:15 Rev 22:14 etc. I believe is error but like I said guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I asked ChatGPT3.5 the following question.

Are Gentiles under the Mosaic law in the New Testament

Here is what Artificial Intelligence had to say.

In the New Testament, particularly in the writings of the Apostle Paul, the relationship between Gentiles (non-Jews) and the Mosaic Law is a significant theological and practical consideration. Paul addresses this issue in several of his letters, including Romans, Galatians, and Ephesians.
In summary:
  1. Romans: In the Book of Romans, Paul discusses the idea that both Jews and Gentiles are under sin and in need of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. He emphasizes that justification comes through faith rather than adherence to the works of the law. Paul argues that Gentiles are not under the Mosaic Law in the same way as Jews but can be justified by faith in Christ.
  2. Galatians: The Book of Galatians deals extensively with the issue of whether Gentile converts to Christianity need to adhere to the Mosaic Law, particularly regarding circumcision. Paul strongly argues against imposing the law on Gentile believers, emphasizing that justification comes through faith in Christ and not by observing the law.
  3. Ephesians: In Ephesians, Paul discusses the unity of Jews and Gentiles in the body of Christ. He talks about the abolishment of the dividing wall between Jews and Gentiles through Christ's work, suggesting that the Mosaic Law is not a barrier for Gentiles in becoming part of the new covenant community.
In essence, according to Paul's teachings, Gentile believers are not considered under the Mosaic Law in the same way that the Jewish people were. The emphasis is on faith in Jesus Christ as the means of salvation, and Gentiles are not required to observe the ceremonial and ritual aspects of the Mosaic Law. The New Testament underscores the idea that the law was fulfilled in Christ, and believers, both Jews and Gentiles, are under the new covenant of grace.

I also asked ChatGPT3.5 another question.

Who is Paul addressing in Romans 2, based on the text?

The answer took about 10 seconds to arrive. A very, very, long time for an AI model.

Here is what ChatGPT3.5 had to say about Romans 2.

In Romans 2, the apostle Paul is addressing a Jewish audience. In this chapter, Paul is addressing issues related to the hypocrisy of those who claim to be righteous and rely on the law but do not live according to its precepts.

Paul begins Romans 2 by discussing the judgment of God and how everyone, whether Jew or Gentile, will be judged according to their deeds. However, as the chapter unfolds, it becomes clear that Paul is specifically addressing those who are under the Mosaic Law, particularly the Jewish community.

He criticizes those who possess the law but do not keep it, emphasizing the importance of living out the principles of the law rather than merely possessing it. The chapter aims to highlight the need for true righteousness and the universality of God's judgment.

It's important to consider the historical and cultural context of the letter to the Romans to better understand the specific audience and issues Paul is addressing in each section.

Not a bad answer for a machine.

The Ten Commandments have been with God from Creation and will be with us on the New Earth "... and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship me, saith the Lord." (Isaiah 66:23) Moses did not write the ten Commandments; they were given to him by God. The Ten Commandments are not part of the Law of Moses or any part of the old Mosaic Law. "Do not think that I come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (Matt 5:17) The Sabbath is mentioned 60 times in the NT alone and all have to do with the 7th day Sabbath but on which refences an annual Sabbath. God made the Sabbath for all mankind (Mark 2:27). Jesus kept it (Luke 4:16), Paul kept it (Acts 17:2), and Gentiles kept it (Acts 13:42-44; 16:13) Several of the Ten Commandments are mentioned throughout the New Testament. God only set one day apart from the rest and blessed it, sanctified it and blessed it and that would be the 7th day of the week not the first.
That's not the only thing the early church messed up.

The Bible literally never says to celebrate it Sunday, even if that is suppose to represent Jesus rising. The idea of Jesus saying the Sabbath was created for man, not man for the Sabbath is not saying not to celebrate the Sabbath!!! All of the commandments are created for man. Should we just forget them all?

I had these cult people approach me and they had all kinds of crazy ideas. Mother God, Jesus bride (a real one) and such....I knew all the metaphors they were taking literal. But they also mentioned how they had church on the Sabbath and not Sunday. I've looked into it for years and no one has ever came up with a valid reason for it. The best and least sinister reason I could find is they didn't want the jews she Christians celebrating on the same day. I think this is possibly the dumbest reason to change it. But there are definitely more corrupt reasons too.

You will find though that anytime the church gets super involved, truth seems to..... fade just a bit. They have a really great way of achieving their agenda while trying to seem "holy" in my personal opinion. We remember what the "holy people" Pharisees did to Jesus right? The jews were just Pons. It is the Pharisees who were brainwashing everyone. This is how it still is today.
