Abraham had the gospel preached in advance to him but it was this

“And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Abraham is given a mystery nothing of how this will happen but just that all nations would be blessed through Abraham and his seed. There’s no revelation to that but Paul is giving revelation of that in chapter 3 of Galatians paul is talking about Old Testament happenings but he’s revealing this as Christian doctrine now revealed what it really meant
He had faith Isaac, being the child of promise, would not die, is one way
I have heard it described. Also, a ram was provided in his son's place :)

Foreshadowing Christ as the sinless Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world, giving His life as a ransom for many :)

yeah amen Abraham is a man of faith

“By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:17-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we’re told here that Abraham knew God swore to bless him through Isaac , so he knew even if he sacrificed Isaac and killed him , God was able to raise him up because he had already sworn that through Isaac Abraham would become father of many nations

“he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:”

abrahams great faith was based on the fact that God doesn’t lie and will always do what he says he will do. Abraham knew his seed would be called through isaac so Isaac couldn’t die if he sacrificed him , God was able to raise him up to life again.

It’s a figure of Gods only begotten son because ishmael was abrahams first begotten but Isaac was the one born by Gods word of promise like Jesus.

“accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead;”

I find it interesting that Abraham says “ God will provide himself a lamb

and then later looking past the immediate event with the ram it seems Abraham was foretelling this by faith

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that same promise of the gospel to Abraham Isaac and Jacob also is sworn to by God at this point in abrahams life

“And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, and said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:15-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If you look at isaacs sacrifice there’s a really strong hidden figure of christs sacrifice

“And it came to pass after these things, that God did test Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

….
“And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said,…. but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
‭‭
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:1-2, 4, 6, 8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in the gospel this figure is revealed as God sacrificing his only begotten son who he loves , who God his father was always with him , he carries the wood of the cross atop a high hill where he died , but God raised him to life as Abraham believed regarding Isaac in the figure

and when Abraham did this thing , God swears that through his seed all nations of the earth will be blessed later we receive revelation of this stuff in Galatians 3 and other chapters just like it in the apostles writings

The revelation of all this stuff making sense to us Christians is written in the New Testament was sort of my point about revelation so thinking of Abraham and Isaac and how Abraham was so faithful to God this applies to Christians this way

“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham…. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

…But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:7-9, 16, 22, 26-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Christians of all nations are the seed of abrahams promises revealed in the nt

It is fantastic to receive postbiblical revelation. My relationship with Father, my Eldest Brother at His side and the Spirit of Truth They sent to me (us) has gone to a new level through receiving postbiblical revelations. I too once feared anything beyond what was written in the bible but of course this happens every day of the week especially on the weekends when Priests, Ministers, Pastors or Teachers deliver their sermons. Once they finish reading the bible text they then go on with what is not exactly in the bible. Why do they need to add to the bible? Isn't it enough? Is it of itself not sufficient as some have stated and believe (doctrine of the sufficiency of scripture). I think many are confused by this practice of manufacturing a personal interpretation of a biblical text.
Would you care to share with the rest us us what you know or have witnesses about post-biblical revelation(s)? It would be useful for someone else to perhaps evaluate what you say. All things must be tested.

Blessings,

JF

Matthew 24:
33so you, too, when you see all [f]these things [taking place], know for certain that He is near, right [g]at the door.

What things? We are not given specific details. However, with wisdom and understanding of scripture, and guidance from the Spirit, we see the specifics of prophecy clearly unfolding.

As Christians, isn't that our greatest wish? Doesn't that make us all prophets?
2000yrs ago who could have possibly known...
-Israel would become a nation again and still speak Hebrew in 1948
-Russia and China would be comrades today
-200,000,000 man army from the East, no problem
-World government and mark of the Beast, easy
-Whole world watching Israel... Ha, old news

Precious friend, In LIGHT Of Completed Scriptures Of:

His PERFECT Living Word AND His PERFECT Written Word, Such As:

Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and
praise Thy Name for Thy Lovingkindness and for Thy Truth:
for Thou Hast MAGNIFIED Thy Word Above All THY NAME.

Are "post-biblical revelations" Also "magnified ABOVE God's Holy Name,
being "fantastic"? How about all the "post-biblical revelations" of
religions, making oral traditions and magesterium, etc. etc. etc.
(what "men think") equal to or higher than

God's Preserved, HOLY, And Pure (Psa 12:6-7) (Written) Scriptures?:

1Co 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred
to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us

►►► not to think above THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN, ◄◄◄

that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

Are post-biblical revelations that cause this, "Pleasing To God"?

LORD JESUS, Please Help us to be humble, living by "faith, not by sight"
(2 Corinthians 5:7), By Thy Holy Word, our Final (Written) Authority For
faith and practice, living in Thy:

GRACE And Peace... Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:
10these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.d
14The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

And how does this knowledge come to us that Peter was referring to? Obviously it wasn't through the bible (with 11, 66, 73 or 81 books) as none of these were complied at the time Peter spoke these words. But if the 'Divine Power' Peter was referring to is the Spirit of Truth Who was sent from the Father to lead us into all truth (knowledge). This is fantastic because through Him it is given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness. We don't need and never have needed a Priest or Minister or Pastor to refer to past writings to gain the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue, no it is through the amazing Spirit of Truth.
Your question in the OP…. which was somewhat open…..deviates considerable from what you have responded to me here.

What do we do with postbiblical revelation? If someone believes they have received a revelation from Jesus or His Father how do you respond to the one sharing it and the revelation itself?
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If it’s something biblical …you see if it aligns with the Word. Nothing from the true God will contradict what is written.

As for revelation regarding a situation – I would hope people are receiving revelation in the operation of six out of the 9 manifestations of the spirit…..which is information you can’t know from your senses regarding a particular situation.

Regarding what you answered …

By the time Pete received the revelation to write 1 Peter the seven Church epistles (Romans -Thessalonians) were already being circulated…..it wasn’t compiled into book form… but the epistles were encyclical.

However, you word this statement somewhat strangely……you state us as being in the 1st century....

Pertaining to what we need in the church today ….lets leave that up to God.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

You need the spirit to guide you into all truth…. which is to stay the course …..in alignment and harmony with the written Word…..But to be guided or led you have to move (study…. work the Word)....

When I first read how Abraham explained (profesied) to Isaac that God would provide a LAMB for the Sacrifice and later a RAM appeared caught in the thicket, I know it was foretelling Yeshi Yah for God does not err, not even with His Prophets.

Abraham was given to know that God would provide, Himself, a Lamb.

Nothing from the true God will contradict what is written. Yet within the bible narrative itself we see He does. But maybe this is for another thread.

Having heard of this event, I choose to believe it. Because I believe that children can't lie.
They can lie. I have a 3 yr old granddaughter that lies all the time.

Plus, children are gullible. They believe in Santa Claus up to age 12.
