The resources that Putin wishes to grab from Ukraine are fleeting at best.
The real valuable resource is the citizens of Ukraine. They are a highly educated and skilled population.

As far as this false flag about NATO aggression...it's a propaganda piece by Russian disinformation campaign. Ukraine wanted no weapons as to not "poke the bear". They just wanted to trade with Europe and the rest of the world. They even have silicon wafer and chip manufacturing going on there besides computer programming and precision steel products and high tech ceramics used in rocket engines.

But now citizen militias have formed to try and stop the bloodshed. They specifically didn't want to fight...but now they feel they must. Citizens are picking up guns to help their own military and stop Russian aggression.

Russians are their own worst enemy in this conflict....when they blew up the children's hospital and the Old Folks home...the average citizen was infuriated.

Now I understand that war is brutal...but attacking civilian targets is beyond the pail. It's going to cost them regardless of claims of misfire and etc. And today Russia has to raise their key lending rates to 20%...the Ruble was in free fall. It's back up somewhat but still highly volatile as Russian equities and financial instruments are being dumped wholesale in the market.

No one wants to have Russian vodka or Russian anything anymore...and if oil or gas is available from anywhere else to purchase it gets priority.

No... doesn't matter what the government does. The PEOPLE have spoken and not believed in Russian propaganda put out by Russian trolls.

I'm inclined to agree. Though I wouldn't phrase it that way. Credit whenever credit is due. I'm sure that Dawkins has forgotten far more about biology than I have ever learned.

Best wishes, 2RM
Which means nothing at all of course, in the grand scheme of things, all that will matter is what we have done for the Kingdom of God.

So, I thought we should have a thread to comment around the circumstances in Ukraine. It's all potentially very dangerous, and some of us have friends and relations in the military who might be called to serve there.

One thing's for sure: Putin speaks with forked tongue. In fact, he is completely reliable in his lies. If he says X, you can be sure that not X is the case. Similarly, if he says not Y, you can know the truth is Y.

So, how do you see the situation developing?

Best wishes, 2RM
Good question. One thing is for sure, it's not going the way that Putin expected. He seemed to think that Russians forces would crush Ukrainian resistance, likely before the rest of the world had decided what to do. Ukraine has real spine. Good for them. It's just a tragedy that its come to this.

Fascinated. Richard Dawkins would go you so far, that our that our bodies are machines. The question is, is their ultimate aim purposelessness (the propagation of genes) or purposeful (the development of spiritual stature)?

Best wishes, 2RM
If you accept evolution, there is no meaning or purpose to anything. If Dawkins is right, the mind just a mechanistic, predetermined thought processor. According to his world view, I reject evolution because I evolved that way. So how can he say I am wrong? "Wrong" has no meaning. Of course, few evolutionists will accept the logical conclusions of their beliefs. For some reason that none of them have explained, morality and ethics matter.

And Putin's bill is going to get even more expensive...

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/28/ukr...-it-may-suspend-all-deliveries-to-russia.html.

Equities and financial instruments are being dumped wholesale on American markets. Russia is selling gold and desperate to mine more. Their Ruble is becoming worthless on the world stage. So eventually the switch will flip and they will have to buy gold with something because when the Ruble becomes worthless at central banks it's not going to work out.

Unless Putin makes good on his threat to go nuclear. Then all bets are off.

Indeed so. We must pray he doesn't. Because if he does, the world will become a barren graveyard.

I accept evolution, and I also accept God. For me there is no inherent contradiction. I simply find that God chose evolution as His method of creating a diversity of species.

I would agree if God's word said so. It does not. I would agree if there was any way of evolution working on a practical basis. Adaptation is obviously real. God placed sufficient genetic code in his creation to allow for this. Adaptation is not evolution in the Darwinian sense.
I have a technical background and I have a wide, but not in depth, knowledge on industrial instrumentation and control. I know, for example, that accurate temperature control was extremely difficult until recent technology developments. Yet evolutionists say that reptiles became mammals. Blow up a car factory and produce an aircraft? I don't think so.

A reptile has to regulate body temperature manually, so to speak. When it is cold, it seeks the sun. When it gets too hot, it moves into the shade. If the first reptile got that wrong, it dies. That's the end of the reptile line. How did the first reptile know how to control body temperature? I can't imagine a goanna sitting down with his offspring and explaining how to control body temperature. So how did the next generation know how? It has to be programmed in. How did that happen? The only plausible answer is God created reptiles with this ability. If God created, then it is not evolution.

I doubt anything I've said will change your mind, but at least you have an idea why I reject evolution.

Evolution progresses in geological time. (ie, over millions of years) Natural selection provides the filter by which those most suited to their environment survive to breed, and those that aren't, don't. This all seems to be elegantly simple, and avoids the issue of God micro-managing His entire creation.

But I doubt I've said anything that will change your mind, also.

Thank you. And I will equally defend yours.

I remember reading Peter Drucker (a business management guru). He told the story of a chief executive having a board meeting with his colleagues. 'I take it we are all agreed then?' said the CEO. Universal assent. 'Then I suggest we delay a decision until we have some disagreement, and can be sure we have considered the issue from all angles.' Dissent is vital to our democracies, but we need to learn to accept it.

Unity in Christ is the goal of the Creator for those who are truly His, and there is no alternative to this obedience.

I come at this from a different angle. Even when, as an atheist, I did not believe, I championed what is good. And, it seems to me that if one pursues the good, one is gaining proximity to God, who is ultimately Good. Whether one admits this in so many words, or not. And I think most people are reasonably good, or civilisations could not cohere.

Best wishes, 2RM.

Again you are leaning on your own understanding, which we are told to NOT DO.
If your mind is a not renewed to see the world through His lens, and you have never posted that it is, you are still missing the mark.

I keep seeing this prophetic word, and yet, there is a remnant of genuine believers in each country, we have seen Him calling us and they out from among whatever group they are in.

Six years ago, a man on this site prophesied that Russia would destroy America and how it would happen...
The only problem is that there is no evidence that Russia has destroyed America. Americans (or more precisely evil Americans) have destroyed (and are destroying) America. Who opened the door wide to the Russian mafia to operate in America? Who opened the door wide to Communist Chinese operatives to steal American technology? Who has handed over the southern border to the Mexican cartels? America is now full of traitors and nothing is being done about it.
