This states that if it were possible for someone to lose salvation. They could never be renewed to repentance (resaved) they would be lost forever.

This does not say a man loses salvation. Many disciples walked with christ. But when push came to shove they walked away, Because they did not have true faith, John 6 is a perfect ecxample

Paul is not talking about being qualified for salvation. Salvation is a gift, not a wage. It is by grave through faith not work

paul is talking about being disqualified as a teacher of the gospel.

Yep. And many a sinner has died and left this earth because they continued in their sin.

The did not die a death caused by sin.
ET, You said, however that is NOT what Paul said:

"This states that if it were possible for someone to lose salvation. They could never be renewed to repentance (resaved) they would be lost forever."--

Paul said (and I highlight) things here 1. Once Enlightened 2. Tasted the Heavenly Gift 3. Shared in the Holy Spirt 4.Tasted the goodness of the Word of God 5 And powers of the coming age. 5. AND THEN FALLEN AWAY

--Nowhere does it say "if it were possible for someone to lose their salvation" and He re-iterates the falling away by mentioning FIVE things involved with undoubtedly having been SAVED.

It is impossible
for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age—and then have fallen away—to be restored to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.…--Hebrews 6:4-6

Also the prize can't be Paul losing his ability to be preacher of the gospel--that is no prize--it is a calling. The prize is for all Christians is ETERNAL LIFE.

You are re-interpreting the clear reading to say what you want it to say--note your addition of words and ideas that are not found in the text. Let scripture interpret itself, if you please.

Yes, It is sad that people will nto let go of long held beliefs

SALVATION IS A GIFT, for it is by GRACE WE HAVE BEEN SAVED.

Not by work of righteousness which we have done but by HIS MERCY HE SAVED US,

If abraham was found by works, he has somethign to boast. But not before God. Abraham BELIEVED and it was ACREDITED to him for righteousness.

A PRIZE IS A REWARD FOR GOOD HARD WORK.

Paul never tried to earn salvation, He undertood he could not. Thats why he STOPPED being a pharisee

When you claim salvation is by works. And not grace. You make paul out to be a liar.
NO ONE, ESPECIALLY Me HAS MADE SUCH A CLAIM. Please read what we write before responding.

How many times and in how many ways must I explain--LEGALISM is NOT the same as falling away/not abiding/going back to a willful life of sin--they are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS! No one is arguing that we are not saved by grace--every person arguing against OSAS believes we are saved by GRACE, that we will sin because we are human--as someone else said, we don't obey to be saved we obey and should obey BECAUSE we are SAVED. Christ said "If you love me, keep my commandments" and "Abide in me".

Read the next few verses.

7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

near to being cursed, and being cursed is not the same. Its like 1 cor. Where paul talks about rewards. God silver precious stone, wood hay and stubble..

Many will get to heaven and have no rewards. It will all be burned up. They will still be saved even as through fire (near to being cursed.

The context of Hebrews is the law. According to the law. You can fall away. All you have to do then is repent, give a sacrifice and your saved again.

Paul is saying IF I( if it were possible) they fall away, They could not be renews to repentance.

The thing that is impossible is being resaved again.

We have to keep in mind that backsliding and apostasy are 2 different things.

Backsliding; we still believe, but live in sin and don't follow the Word. These are still saved, but will have to be cleansed of their bad works. (I believe these are the foolish virgins who are denied entrance to the Wedding Feast, but that's another thread).

Apostasy, you believe and confess that Christ is not the Son of God. Belief and confession of Him is the only thing that gets you in, and it's the only thing that can take you out.

And having chosen to step out, no, there is no going back in.

Again you add (IF) to Paul's words--just like Eve. She was told not eat of the tree, but when questioned by the serpent about what God said, she added, God said... "Do not touch"

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

I did not add anything

Paul the first to be saved?

You're kidding right? All of the apostles, all of women named in the bible who followed and served Christ, all of the other unnammed apostles--70 were sent out by Jesus himself, all of His disciples who didn't turn away. Thousands were saved who remain unnamed before Christ died. And many were saved in the Old Testament by looking ahead to the future Messiah who was to come. https://faithalone.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/bryant.pdf
Do not post a link to answer. That is not the word of God.
What have you believed for salvation ?

You also said we need to get saved! You can quote all the scripture you like, but you are not the judge of our salvation.

Especially since we disagree with your OP!

You need to obey the gospel given to Paul by Christ to be saved. I am not here to run round in circles arguing.

Hebrews is not written to saved believers in the body of Christ.

The verses you quoted are about false teachers--they don't support OSAS.

"…4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age— 6and then have fallen away—to be restored to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame.…--Hebrews 6:4-6

"“If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”"---John 15:6

"No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."--1st Corinthians 9:27

"My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins."--James 5:19-20
Once again, the passages you quote with the exception of the Corinthians passage, were written to the Jews, not church doctrine. And the Corinthians passage is not about losing one's salvation, but being disqualified from the ministry. Stick to Paul's letters for church doctrine.

Romans 10:16 - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

We obey the gospel by choosing to believe the gospel (Romans 1:16) by trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Your own words as the gospel is not what 1 Corinthians 15: 3,4. says. The DBR never saved anyone.
So Christ did not die for OUR SINS. Which you leave out.
Paul says "keep in memory of what I preached to you" 1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
You believe in vain if you hold to the DBR. Death Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins.

I was raised an Independent Baptist, I was taken to church 3 times a week for as far back as I can remember as a child until I became a man and went out on my own. I have heard OSAS all my life, literally hundreds of times.

It is true in one respect, as long as you have faith in Jesus Christ, what He did for us on the Cross, you cannot lose your salvation!

There is a BUT applied to this! There are those who for whatever hardship endured through life, have lost their faith in Christ, no longer believing in His redemption! This has severed the lifeline of salvation by grace through faith. No faith--no salvation!
You are MAD aren't you?

Mid Acts Dispensationalist = Mad

Salvation is eternal but the blessings and comforts that pertain to it so far is this life is concerned depend upon our continuing in the faith.

I was raised in the Bible Belt back when the preaching of the Gospel was a very serious thing.

Doesn't seen to be so serious anymore, doesn't seem to be the Gospel anymore either!

Sometimes you find the Lord where you don't expect Him to be. There are some good things happening in the church. Some good things happening outside the US and Europe.

Wherever Jesus Christ crucified for the sins of the world is preached!

Hard to find that nowadays, Evmur!

There's loads of it ... I have a feeling you may be averse to the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement .. that's where you'll find the cross being preached.
