That is exactly the reason for your error. They are not the same event. One is to gather the church and the other is the Lord returning to the earth to end the age. Since God's wrath takes place prior to the Lord's return to the earth and the church is not appointed to suffer God's wrath, then we must be removed prior to said wrath. Your belief dishonors the Lord and the wrath that He suffered on our behalf. And you have God punishing the righteous with the wicked, which is not in God's nature to do so. And since God's wrath will be upon the entire earth, then we cannot be here. The other thing that you ignore, is the fact that throughout Revelation chapters 1 thru 3 the word 'ekklesia' translated as 'church' is used 19 times. Then from chapter 4 onward the word disappears. So, you ignore that as well. The Day of the Lord is nothing honorable to go through. Those who do, it will be because they were not believers at the time of the gathering or those who wandered back into the world willfully living according to the sinful nature.
After Paul gave the detailed account of the Lord's appearing to gather the church, he said "Comfort each other with these words." But according to what you are believing and teaching, there would be no comforting each other with those words, because like the wicked, those in Christ would also be going through God's wrath and there would be no comfort in that. Your message is: "The good news is, you have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. The bad news is, you still have to go through God's wrath."
According to scripture those who believe have been credited with the righteousness of Christ and have been reconciled to God. But according to you and others, that doesn't matter.
If you say that there is zero scripture, you must not have read my post of Revelation 3:10 where the Lord states that He will keep us
out of the time of wrath. Either that or you applied a false apologetic to it. You also must have ignore Rev.19:6-8 which shows the bride/church in heaven at the wedding of the Lamb and then following the Lord out of heaven in v.14.
This is true, but He is coming to get His church prior to His wrath, not after.
The group that you speak of is the great tribulation saints who are not the church which are introduced in Rev.7:9-17. The fact that the elder is asking John who these are in white robes and where they came from demonstrates that this is a new group and not the church. And the fact that John doesn't know who they are further supports this. As I stated previously, the church is no where mentioned after chapter 4. You just don't have enough study on this topic. You are coming in with only partial information. God has a lot of clues in the book of Revelation, but you have not recognized them and that because you don't have enough study on this topic.
"But watch yourselves, or your hearts will be weighed down by dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life—and
that day will spring upon you suddenly like a snare.
35For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of all the earth. So keep watch at all times, and pray that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
So, according to the above, anyone who goes back into the world willfully living according to the sinful nature, the day will close on them like a trap, meaning they will not be gathered, but will be left on the earth during the time of God's wrath designated as "That Day." So yes, there will be many who will have stopped watching and will have gone back into the world and just like the five virgins whose lamps have gone out and who no extra oil, they will be stuck in that time period.
The resurrection of the dead and the living being changed and caught up, will be back to back, almost as one event. The resurrection and the living in Christ being changed and caught up, will take place in close proximity to each other. According to the scripture, the dead will rise first immortal and glorified and then the those still alive in Christ will be transformed immortal and glorified in an instant and will be caught up in the clouds with those who will have just resurrected. The only reason that the those living are change and caught up, is because they will still be in their bodies and will not be able to be resurrected, so they are just transformed on the spot. The entire event regarding the dead and the living being changed and caught up will take place very quickly, in an instant. At that point the entire church from beginning to end will be in the air to meet the Lord, where at which time and in keeping with John 14:1-3, He will take the entire church back to the Father's house to those places that He went to prepare for us, so that where He is, we may be also.
After that, there will be those who did not believe prior to the church being caught up, who will become believers after the fact and who will become the saints during the time of God's wrath. And I'm sure that many of them will be those who will have known of the Lord, but were living back in the sinful nature and will know what they must now go through, namely, the seals, trumpets and bowl judgements of God's wrath.
