Did you notice what I bolded and underlined? Just read that again to understand what is being said.Unless you believe water baptism is necessary to recieve the Holy Spirit?

Once again you are trying to reverse what the Bible teaches. Looks like some people will never learn the truth. These men in Acts that said to Peter, "what must we do", had already had their hearts changed from the stony heart to a heart of flesh, by regeneration, that can have its conscience "pricked".
And neither understand biblical salvation or the word elect!Yes that is the qualification that Calvinists have made... and so many have adopted not realizing it is adding Ephesians 2:8.
Luther did not understand James and neither do Calvinists.
Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity. What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions, and Paul reiterated it in Acts 20:20, 21:Notice the difference in Acts 16.30 .
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 COR. 7:10
Katergazomai: work, do, do deed, to perform, cause, work out
Acts 5:31
He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 11:18
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”
2 Timothy 2:25
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,
Romans 2:4
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
Grace: the divine influence upon the heart and its reflection in the life.
Once again you are trying to reverse what the Bible teaches. Looks like some people will never learn the truth.
Since Peter made it perfectly clear that their sins cold not be remitted until the repented, and that they could not received the Holy Spirit until they repented, what makes you think that they were regenerated before they received the Holy Spirit? That would be completely contrary to Gospel truth.
Only those who repent and believe receive the Spirit, and only those who receive the Spirit are born again (John 1:12,13). Regeneration is the supernatural work of God the Holy Spirit within the person who obeys the Gospel. And it is the Gospel which is the *incorruptible seed* of the New Birth (1 Peter 1:23-25).
And yet you fail to see the difference between Acts 2 .38Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity. What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions, and Paul reiterated it in Acts 20:20, 21:
And how I [Paul] kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
This one passage should be sufficient to show that you are another one who is perverting the Gospel even though you have seen the Scriptures. So you need to change your screen name to "throughunbelief".
/////Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity. What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions, and Paul reiterated it in Acts 20:20, 21://// from the 29 conversion accounts in Acts you have hand selected 2 . ok that leaves 27 . Then you say "What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions,"Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity. What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions, and Paul reiterated it in Acts 20:20, 21:

Things different are not the same . Acts 2.38 is not Acts 20. its much later , different audience and different context. Each time you see the word repent ,ask about what ? from what ? because of what? Then step out of the ACTS OF THE APOSTLES and look for the normative appropriation in the very books that are not THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES and maybe a book on SOTERIOLOGY, maybe the letters that actually define the Gospel and describe the Gospel .Most errors we have today in the body are to do with not rightly dividing the word of God . The most extreme cases are due to groups using Acts for doctrines. Acts is desriptive not prescriptive.Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity. What Peter preached was normative for all genuine conversions, and Paul reiterated it in Acts 20:20, 21:

If repentence then be batised forDid you notice what I bolded and underlined? Just read that again to understand what is being said.
Are you saying Acts 8 ( Ethiopian) and Acts 30.16 were not genuine conversions ? what about where its ' laying on of hands ? Just believe? No baptism mentioned ? no repentance mentioned? ' believe' is the main use . But still I'm not going to make the error and use the Book of acts as the normative example. Yes they were saved ,yes by Faith . But its After the book of Acts we understand the Gospel and the normative application and appropriation .Just because repentance is not mentioned in every instance of salvation does not mean that it is not a necessity.

Can you explain,It’s given and owned by Jesus?....what is owned by Jesus?
Is that scriptural?...no offence just trying to understand.thanks.
You don't have to mow the lawns and do the washing. You do have to open the box & receive it though.
(The OP listed repenting as a "but") Repenting is not a "work" and is necessary for salvation.
Repenting is accepting the gift because you realise you need it. Jesus doesn't force anyone to take the gift he is giving.
All of us remain in darkness until we are quickened. We cannot see any choosing by the natural man at the time of his quickening, Eph 2:1.Since all men are natural by birth they all must choose. Gods gives light for men to choose. Those who deny the light remain in darkness. You would know this if you had a biblical salvation experience, not one created by your natural mind.
John 3:19-20 They chose darkness because their deeds were evil and wanted to avoid reproof.
They chose between the only two options that man faces.
For the cause of Christ

It does not say that they could not receive the Holy Spirit until they repented. Baptism is "the answer of a good conscience toward God". which was the GIFT of the Holy Spirit that was already abiding within them.Once again you are trying to reverse what the Bible teaches. You must be dedicated to the Lord, all men fall short of the Glory of God, man cannot do this alone. However he is to make every effort to be like his son Jesus Christ. This takes dedication, fortitude, patience, and repentance all the time. A personal one on one relationship is a must. God wants total dedication and focus to him, not the world and its ideals, values, ethics and morals, but his. Unfortunately the tag chrisitian is now redundant, and saying your a born again Christian more so. Man has a long way to go to please the lord in his endeavours, a Sunday morning at some temple of Baal does not cut it. Get to work people, dedicate yourself totally to the lord, profess your love for him and repent from sin. And someone having no clothes on does not equate to sex. That is the work of satan whispering to you, grow stronger in christ and repent! Read the bible and dont rely on mans interpretation, but the holy spirits. The devil is at work right now harvesting his crop, which is getting larger by the day.
