Which Bible translation is the best one to read?
Hello,
First, please understand that your question is likely to stir a hornet's nest, as JaumeJ mentioned. There are people who will make vehement arguments in favour of certain translations (well, one in particular) and even imply that most others are not just inferior, but inspired by the enemy. Ignore such arguments for now.
The translation that is best is the one you actually read.
There are
many factors to consider. What I suggest is that you choose ten passages (randomly or not) from across the Bible, including Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, at least one of the major prophets, the gospels, Paul's letters, and Revelation. Go to BibleGateway.org and find each of those passages in a dozen different translations. Think about how easy you find the language to understand, and whether it is the language you use every day, or maybe just a little bit challenging. Take notes so you're able to track your thoughts. Once you've finished the exercise, review your notes, and try reading a longer passage in each of your "favourite" three translations. Then you'll have a good idea which one is best...
for you.
