Gifts are given as the Spirit wills. It is very brazen of you to think you can set the rules and the standards for what the Spirit does.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in a man is the changed life. A testimony of what God has done in saving them from their sins. The false dichotomy is your contention that three gifts did not end as Gods word has declared.

Acts 2:4 has been part of my life for ever ..
Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Tongues has been often faked. A big surprise for me was not finding the phrase 'heavenly language' in Scripture. Why do we simply accept tongues when the above also includes Acts 1,2, and 3? Every Pentecostal known to me including grandparents parents siblings ignore verses 12& 3.

Actually God has set the standard in His word. His word is not subject to critical review by men. Very brazen indeed to endeavor to manipulate God. Reminds me of the one malefactor on the cross and many who passed by the cross and hissed at Christ.

Dsve-L thinks his theories of limitations on the gifts are binding on the Spirit. The Spirit did X on Y occasions and therefore he will not do it now. And if the Spirit gives gifts he seems to think it will happen in some way he can witness it without putting forth any effort to research cases of it occurring.
Christians are allowed to pray and believe the promises of His word God is not bound to your theories.
The passage says tongues will cease an that which is in part will be fine away (Not three gifts.) Partial knowledge--,like Paul had and recorded in scriptures like this will be replaced by full knowledge.

Of course. The Holy Spirit is not a jack in the box that jumps out when you open the the bible. Check the old testament. What about Pentecost? It's no different today. He's God.
The Spirit gives spiritual gifts of faith (not seen) from our unseen Holy Father who works in us.. There is no mention of what some call as "sign gift" as some sort of outward confirmation by those who self -edify .as a way of filling up a depleting spirit .
Signs are for those who believe not prophecy God's word. Prophecy the new tongue believers speak in a hope the gospel will cast out demons for those who believe the word of God.
Who would hope for something seen and call it walking by faith?
The Christian's living hope is a new incorruptible bodies. All die not receiving the end or evidence of their faith . We receive the hope of it from the beginning it moves us foward.
The full knowledge is the completed cannon the perfect source of knowledge of the things of God.

I am new around here and hope i dont have to read a zillion pages to learn who and what folks are about.
They as a law are already set and not subject to change by the oral traditions of men . it is marked by those who refuse to hear the word of God without adding the oral traditions of men .(making the word of God without effect). Falling backward as a confirmation. I would call it. . . Yet for all that they will keep the oral traditions of men falling backward. As a doctrine of men
Isaiah 30:9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear "the law of the Lord"

The people say, “Who does he think he is trying to teach and explain his message to? Does he think we are babies who were at their mother’s breast only a very short time ago? He speaks to us as though we were babies:“Saw lasaw saw lasa Qaw laqaw qaw laqawZe’er sham ze’er sham.” So God will use this strange way of talking, and he will use other languages to speak to these people.
In the past he spoke to them and said, “Here is a resting place. Let those who are tired come and rest. This is the place of peace.”
But they would not listen to him. So the Lord’s words will be senseless sounds to them:“Saw lasaw saw lasaw.Qaw laqaw qaw laqaw.
Ze’er sham ze’er sham.” When the people try to walk, they will fall backwards. They will be defeated, trapped, and captured Isaiah 28:9-13 EVR
The answer as to when did God use that promised strange to way of talking to those who yet will not walk by faith but rather than walking forward fall backward slain in the spirit. The law is re-visited in 1 Corinthians 14:
Brothers and sisters, don’t think like children. In evil things be like babies, but in your thinking you should be like full-grown adults. As the Scriptures say,“ Using those who speak a different language and using the lips of foreigners, I will speak to these people.
But even then, they will not obey me.” This is what the Lord says. And from this we see that the use of different languages shows how God deals with those who don’t believe, not with those who believe. And prophecy shows how God works through those who believe, not through unbelievers 1 Corinthians 14:21-23 EVR

You must first know and understand the promises of God to believe them. God has bound Himself to His word. Why do you endeavor to manipulate God?

The scriptures are sufficient for the Holy Spirit to execute the perfect will of God in the hearts of man. Men must believe and receive by faith that which God has written and not go about to add to or manipulate what God has declared.

You have been shown that Scripture does not teach this. Signs are given in many contexts, both to believers and to unbelievers.
