Hi Ruby.
FAITH IS-
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things (not seen).
Faith without works is dead. A work is something that needs to be done to obey God. E.g love your brother. If we love him we will keep his commandments. One of his commandments is to love our brothers and sisters.
Works in James are not works of self righteousness. They are commands God expects us to follow if we love him.
James 2:14-26
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ...
Dont worry Ruby. We have all had testings of our faith. But sometimes some things remain, but it doesn't mean we lack faith. Paul was given a thorn in the flesh, but it wasnt removed why? Because Gods Grace is sufficient for us, his power is made perfect in weakness. Sometimes healing may not be the way we expect or sometimes our afflictions are left. It may be a test from God or it may be a way to build our character. Suffering produces perseverance and perseverance character. So in our sufferings we are building character. Its not always "Unbelief" but it can be a way of strengthening us. Helping us to be patient in affliction. Helping us to develop fruits of the spirit
