They called it civil unions before it was legalized as marriage.
In some countries its still illegal.
If its legal in your country then yes there is such a thing as a gay wedding, and apparently it is big business for wedding events planners.
That does not mean you have to go to one, it is your choice whther to attend or not, but most all of thee wedding ceremonies will not be held in a church or officiated by a minister, people get celebrants to do them. You can register at a regestry office, and they probably wont bat an eye because...if its legal, you can do it and you cant go to jail for it. Laws have been changed for homesexuality to become legal, before it was illegal and police could arrest people and chuck them in jail apparently. I dont know if that actually happened. But it probably didnt stop people from practicising it in prison.
Now the laws have been changed maybe its protected people who chose to do something wrong from their own selves just like how when prostuituon was legalised, the prostitutes could make a living easier. Instead of working off the streets, they could operate from the comfort of their own homes. Or something like that.
Unforunately, laws dont really stop people from choosing to do what is wrong. I think people change them more so that they dont have to deal with them or feed people in prison.
