Anyway getting back to this .... since you have stated the above are sin and equal to other abominations, if one has pictures on their wall of a landscape they may want to take them down since they are idolatry....so we can add that to the list too!

Also, I have been told that purchasing coffee from a chain restaurant is a sin.

So Mr. Bob can you find the bolded part above in Bible?

Sodom and Gomorrah should give an insight into what God has said about the matter. God said it is an abomination which is pretty strong condemnation of this behavior.

All sin is an affront to God but God calls this sin specifically an abomination.

Deuteronomy 18:9, 12 & 14 NIV, "Do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there… The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. So then if we are to abstain from all appearance of evil.....why did you agree with post #480 ?

In John 19:11, Jesus says to Pilate, “…he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.” Jesus is saying that some sins are considered greater.

Because being in the presence of sin does not equivocate being a part of it. Jesus never sinned!

The judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah was decided before the towns men decided to try and rape the Angels! They were pure evil. Rape is more than a sex crime. It's a violent crime about forcing a persons violent will upon another or others.

I've always believed that crimes against children are the worst. The consensus here elected that all sins are equal in Gods eyes. So you can take that up with the majority here.

Well Paul's words were written to the believers.... and it is a balance between our duty to other believers and those non believers around us, be it friends or family.

We need to be careful with this line of thinking that we would use it to justify going to a gay wedding ....

since we would never go to an orgy to observe and perhaps try to witness....that really would be streeeeeeetching our freedom in Christ.

We "take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them" (Ephesians 5:11).

So you agree then not all sins are equal, excellent.:)

While it is better to pluck out an eye or cut off a hand if it causes us to sin. It would probably be better to become a Eunuch to the glory of God than to be a sex pervert. Child abusers and people that teach the occult to children are by far in a different class.

It seems you have trouble understanding that being in the presence of sin is not sin. Do you think Jesus sinned to be in the presence of sin? To say He did not is something everyone should agree with. It seems you take issue with that. How sad.

Yes this is what I am thinking too......while it only takes one sin to fall short of perfect...... not all sins have the same effects on the world or people.

cause and effect of sin. Sin will always be personal until sin affects others. A person who has a drinking problem (PC) is only a problem for him until he or she gets behind the wheel and drives and killed someone else. Now your sin has an effect on others. The same thing with Homosexuality, this too is a personal sin until it became a movement, now it has affected the family as God ordained the family to be.

Yes I would agree, however bear in mind that one requires a partner, or in the case of multiple partners and the risky activities, I think make a bit wider than personal....certainly the movement and agenda has far wider and far deeper effects.

It seems rather short sighted to say excessive drinking is only a problem for the person who drinks until they kill someone while under the influence of alcohol. Perhaps if you read the family and/or prayer request forums, or were more in touch with reality, you would be able to recognize that the excessive consumption of alcohol (and other drugs) is a problem for others whether death by automobile while under the influence enters the equation or not. An Al-Anon meeting would help open your eyes :)

Alcoholism & Addiction is a Spiritual, Biological, Psychological, Social-problem that affects almost everyone from taxpayers, to insurance providers and rates, law enforcement, courts. Child and adult protective services.

Nutritional, physical and mental illness are affected too. Just to mention somethings besides automobile accidents, hospital, funeral, welfare and child/foster care expenses.

There is a difference between acute and chronic addictive disorders as acute can be temporary and mere abstinence can be an effective treatment. While the chronic may cause or combine with other physical, emotional or mental disorders and thus is considered a legitimate disability by most medical societies.
