We are talking about the seed that fell upon a rock, it does spring up it has roots but the roots do not receive moisture, a plant on a rock needs lots of moisture because there is no soil retention.

Farmers of the day knew this.

To fall away means they did in fact believe and have saving belief.

Sorry again but it had root and something with a root will grow with water and sunshine

Also Jesus states in verse six......."it lacked moisture"

And when people state "I believe" ask them what they believe. Believing in Jesus is not believing the Gospel, it is only part of the story and in Acts we can see where this happens.

Jesus is telling about the "word" so there is a direct line between truth and believe and saved, he is not talking about people who are faking it.
How can you say the second soil has a root when the text says verbatim it had NO ROOT?

Also, unclesilas makes a fair point. How can you think the second soil people were saved yet retain a position of eternal security?

You and Uncle make good points, if we say that one or two of the groups were saved then lost it, we say they were given conditional life, i think we all agree, the 4th group was given eternal life. This leaves issues with the word. As it is contradictory.

It is “firm root” not “no root” is bad translation….look it up, as well Jesus in his first rendition makes it clear that it was lack of moisture.

The roots of the new plant strive to reach the lower regions of rich soil in order to draw nutrients and moisture up to the plant leaves. However, once a stone or rocky base blocks the roots from drilling down into the dirt the plant withers in the heat. There isn't enough moisture and the plant soon dies.

The difference is that the seed actually sprouts, because there is some loose soil. The seed swells with moisture as the roots attempt to head downward searching for rich soil and moisture. The plant begins to grow, but finally succumbs to the elements of nature.

If we examine the verse further, it states "but in the time of testing they fall away." Only genuine believers are subject to testing. Only genuine believers possess saving faith to fall away from. Those who never believed possess no faith to test. It is impossible for unsaved person to fall away from something he was never a part of. Because of this, I have to conclude that those who genuinely believe can subsequently fall away.

Jesus is the seed, which is irrevocable and incorruptible.

Then how could they lose salvation?

As for the word believe. Even demons believe, are they going to heaven?

Believers can and do fall way. Our job is to restore them.

Study Corinth and the goings on there.

They did not lose salvation that is not the point of the parable, Jesus makes it very clear it is about having the right heart to bear fruit converts.

There, I have rebutted your argument, you can try again.

Believers are believers a status conferred by God not a status determined by our behaviour.

Updated version of the thieves on the cross, or of the world on the cross:
The night of the Spirit

Second stanza of The Dark Night of the Soul:
2: In darkness and secure, by the secret ladder disguised:
Oh happy chance! In darkness concealed, My house being now at rest.

Going on to maturity is carried by the Holy Spirit and could be years after the night of following Christ in our understanding:
"Strive to enter in at the straight gate, for many I say to you will seek to enter in and shall not be able."
We come as we are to wait on the Lord empowered by His Spirit; powerless otherwise to put away our divided spirit and go on to perfection. The two thieves on the cross both suffered with Him and represent the whole world. With free will taken away all that is left is a believer willing to suffer with Him and find mercy, and a would be believer needing proof: to be delivered from suffering and given His life back. Taking our life back we still suffer but our work is in vain: not putting off our old life we are offended in suffering, and not having learned to Love, have no reward for our work, "But a fearful looking for judgment. "The thief on the cross who believed Jesus is the first to experience "Fellowship in the sufferings of Christ, being made conformed to his death." He was not offended in suffering with Him, In this night of the Spirit with Jesus, our free will overtaken in the will of God. The dim Light we have, sufficient influence of Grace to lose our life in following Him. "I have the Power to lay down My Life and I have the Power to take it up again." "In a race all compete but there is only One winner." As we seek first the Kingdom of God, we have a glimpse of sharing in His victory. "This is the rest were You will cause the weary to rest, nor by might not by power but by My Spirit sais the Lord." His yoke is easy as He already finished the work by Himself, but requires our agreement, "As laborers together with Him." The work is adjusted for the stronger to bear more of the load and He lets us bear what we can handle to develop in "Faith that works by Love." Left to follow Him in bearing the Cross, as Simon did for Jesus. "Fulfilling what is left behind of the sufferings of Christ for the Church." "A new commandment I give to You, that you Love one another; as I have Loved You, that you also Love one another." This Love is the Power of the Holy Spirit to turn an enemy into a friend. Loving His enemies who struggle in pride of achievement under the law to prove themselves to God, insisting others struggle as they do without seeing Unconditional Love of God. "Those who compare themselves among themselves are not wise." The Holy Spirit giving us rest, we cease from our own work as God did from His. "Now we are laborers in agreement with God, encouraging you to be reconciled to God." We are delivered from causing divisions as we walk in the Spirit, "Perfect Love delivers us from all fear. "Those who obtain rest from dualistic thinking of I'm right and your wrong in knowledge of good and evil, are no longer dominated by ego: the fruit of the sin nature is a selfish existence. "Let no one turn you away from the simplicity of Christ," who satisfies our heart so that we no longer thirst after the world. As long as we continue to Live in the sight of God and don't take things in our hands again we remain in the will of God and drink from the source of Living Water, and if we fall "We have an advocate in Jesus Chris, with the Father."
i understand or think i understand what you have wrote, the parable of the sower is about a child , knowing a father, he wanted to explore the world , he need money to do this, this money led him to think ,what will he spend it on, he found that he could buy beer and sex ,a better home, when his money ran out, he returned to his father, in the hope his father would welcome him back, the other son who stayed by his father, never got to see, the world or other people in the world, then became upset with his father, because he wanted to do the same or because his efforts became nill and void to the father ,because his father gave him a ring and authority back to the other son.

for example
so people who work for a living, doing a job, trying to feed there families need money to do this, are like father and mother to there children.
yet if there son or daughter came home and said i am homasexual or gay male or female ,went down the pub, when to a hooker, etc they have a rite as a parent to accept there childs choice or reject the childs choice. how dose there choice reject them from a loving heavenly father, choice to love them. if there human parents have rejected them. when you meet the heavenly father, face to face, you can say to him, this is a sin , i read it in the bible, this is a sin.

the young son learned the rejection of humans, when his money ran out,but need money before he went,by looking at his own heavenly or humanly father, but returned alone to his father home. the son that stayed thought he was being reject by the father , some lessons in life are designed to teach you , how you treat an other human. so what do you expect knowing a loving father are they the same as knowing a heavenly father. who to some, believers, think heavenly and worldly fathers or parents , have the same meaning, and have the same authority, are the reason the young son returned home alone. ware was his wife or ware was flock of sheep, if the world was to be his eternal home.

so don t leave your life on the shelf, the same place you let your bible. get out there.

Only 1 group bore any fruit, that means only 1 group was saved, so either way, if youhave the other groups saved at one time, they had to of lst it because they did not bear fruit.

Either way if you look at vs 18 - 23, you see it is peoples response to the gospel not about bearing fruit. Bearing fruit is the result of responding correctly to the gospel

1. Your new here (supposedly) so i will forgive your ignorance of what has been going on the past few years with a particular member and what she has done and continues to do.
2. God never told us, nor does he enable sin
3. God also told us what to do when people continue in Sin

So take you “pal” comment and put it where it belongs.
thanks pal. my thinking was in a loving heavenly father reward.

Luke 12 New International Version (NIV)
Warnings and Encouragements

4 “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

8 “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God

Who says "NO ROOT" is a bad translation? Here is a couple dozen different translations. A very few say something a different than NO ROOT, and those few are usually not reliable. But even more, Strongs translates the Greek words as "NO" and "ROOT". And it makes perfect sense because we are the branches he is the Vine. We are the plant HE is the Root. From which we get our water and nourishment to produce fruit.

Have you switched into thinking someone can lose their Salvation?

Without question, to my mind, the 3rd soil is the most interesting. And this is the one that few talk about.

I am of the belief that these people are saved.

I just reviewd it, it does say he becomes unfruitful, it does not say if it had roots or not, so it could say they crashed, but they would still be sons and daughters correct?
