"AM" does not speak of past tense . . . Paul was still a mortal man living in the flesh. He considered himself the worse sinner that ever lived. But that belief is not Paul's alone, for every Blood-bought child of God can't help but think, 'Yea, but I am worse!'

We see ourselves the way that God once saw us--but now He doesn't see us that way no more, because He won't look through the Blood covering of His Son, Who is now our righteousness, our High Priest, our Intercessor. We are saved to the uttermost.
I would dare go so far as to correct that last part brother, or sister, since gender isn't identified in our drop down profile menu, to say, "We see ourselves the way that God once saw us--but now He doesn't see us that way no more, because He won'tlooks through the Blood covering of His Son, Who is now our righteousness, our High Priest, our Intercessor. We are saved to the uttermost. "
Truth! Amen.

That 1 John verse is so misused in discussions like this. Context is always key in studying the scriptures. That's why it is important to study scripture , not piecemeal parts to further argument of one's understanding that can be in error, so as to know the full context imparted.

1 John is believed to have been written by the Apostle John. Many Bible scholars contend the names of the new testament books are not those of and for the Apostle who themselves wrote the work, but rather are references to the scribes who translated the written record of what would have began as the Apostles oral teachings of the word. As Christianity was first an oral tradition, well prior to the printing press of course, and also because in 1st century Palestine, Asia, and elsewhere where the Apostles journeyed, most of the peasant class and to whom the Gospel was largely taught were illiterate.
1 John is thought to have been written to believers in Ephesus, which was located in Asia Minor. (read more here)
In 1 John John was teaching to those who had never heard the Gospel, and reiterating to those who were in the faith, the basic tenets of the faith in Christ. Which would necessarily entail first countering any who would doubt the status of sinner needing salvation. Therein is why the verses in 8 through 10. If we say we have no sin.....

John knew Jesus came to save sinners. He wouldn't have saved them from anything at all if after they accepted his word they were still sinners. Given all that sinner means in God's plan.
Bible scholars can pretty much go ahead and take up their places in Hades.

Now, if God could look through the Blood and see me, he would see the flesh which is rotten, filthy and stained by the world. However, His holiness will not allow this.

"Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?" (Habakkuk 1:13).

You are not in iniquity when you are redeemed in Christ.

God is omniscient. He beholds all that is good and all that is evil. If you are in Christ, redeemed, your former self is dead and you are a new creation. If God looks at you through the blood of his only begotten son whom he sent to die for you and take your sins upon himself on the cross, he see's someone who is reborn and washed clean. And who's sins were put under the blood of his son and washed away. He see's you as you are now. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10:14

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. Psalm 32:1-2

Your contention is not with me, but with Paul who wrote what God told him to write . . .

"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not" (Romans 7:18).

We have new Christians (anointed sinner) and I hope he does not mind my comment, but he is just learning about what it actually means to be in Christ. To read it in scripture is one thing, but to really grasp it as a present reality is different.

Yet we both know this by no means, means that we are without sin.

Very important to not boast about being without sin.

I'm not contending with you. I'm simply showing you in God's word how he see's you. Paul's epistle to the Roman church , if one again is aware of his writing style, is speaking of the flesh and its falleness.

Because the ones I am thinking about have only one purpose . . . to destroy faith in the Word of God, and mock simple childlike faith in the Redeemer. I have no use for them.
Those one's you have issue with are not part of this thread. And only God knows their destiny after their life is lived.

I don't know why not? Someone or something has taught you to redefine every verse I'm giving you so that it does not mean what it says. It gets very frustrating to deal with folks that use some kind of allegorical method of interpretation whereby every verse can have as many different meanings as the beholder perceives.

Jesus taught using Parables. Many of which were recalled in the OT.

Not among Christians. But now that we know your identity I think you should not be allowed here. Your screen name was enough of a warning. Now your own words speak louder than that.
I rebuke your prayers. Renounce your amen for it insults those of us who pray in the spirit of righteousness.
And recall and invoke the words of our precious Lord when he rebuked Peter who was overtaken in the moment; "GET BEHIND ME SATAN!"
You've finally decided to drop the mask and appear as the disciple of the enemy that you now demonstrate in those two posts. I've brought you to the attention of others. God see's you. As do we all now.
you are right, God sees us, we can't hid from him, our sins lay bare before him. The chills can be conviction that feels like dread

we deserved to be rebuked by God. I did not expect such response from you, but thank you for telling us what you sincerely feel. To be the voice of God, to tell me how God is angry at me

but here's the most amazing part, "while we were still sinners, Christ died for our sins" (Romans 5:8)

why does God love us in the first place, why would God want us to be his neighbor?

for all our lives, we have tried to put on a mask, hiding away from God, but we don't have to hide away from God. God knows of our identity from the beginning to the end. God is justice, but he is also love, I think it is God's love that even though I burn in the pits of hell in the lake of fire for even being the president of Apostate Central HQ. wolf, you exposed me, which can be ironic in a sense.

Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. (Psalms 3:7)

yes God, strike my jaw, and may my jaw bleed in hell, amen, and amen, forever and ever.
wolf can be persecuted to receive more rewards in heaven.

now we have the chills of conviction, we shall take the opportunity to tell God of our utter-sinfulness. God is right, he is mighty, and this utter sinfulness can lead to the asking of God's love, to change our hearts to love God, and to ask God to give us the heart to obey God. Lilly, you may not intend to witness to me, but God's grace, love, mercy and forgiveness is bigger.

I quote little of Jesus' words because His mission was to the circumcision -- Jews.
We need to be careful here.

Even though He was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, His teachings and His proclamations were for the whole world (when not specifically for those under the Old Covenant e.g. the lepers being sent to the priests).

At the same time, Christ ministered to Gentiles from time to time, and made some profound statements during those occasions. He started to become a Light to lighten the Gentiles while He was on earth.

This is true, but whenever I am dealing with a doctrinal issue of the church age, I turn to Paul.

There is a time to quote the Saviour, but this is not one of them. Jesus was a minister of circumcision, Paul is the Apostle to the Gentiles.

Paul did not . . . I'm quoting mostly from the Pauline Epistles.

I quote little of Jesus' words because His mission was to the circumcision -- Jews.
Paul's writing style included rhetoric, alluded to and often included allusion to the Septuagint, and ethos as he would often preface his epistles with his own credentials.
The Apostle Paul also adjusted his writing style in order to communicate directly with the culture to whom he was delivering the Gospel.

It's all very easy to research for your own edification. Seek out, Apostle Paul's writing style, in any search engine. Trust those sources that are Christian or are produced by those committed to Soteriology or Bible scholarship. It is quite a study but well worth the effort.
