One thing is a war that unites the people. A war that makes patriotism flourish. A war that the country as a whole has a similar relationship with.
Nations of this world are built on hate and greed, it is all around us to the end. That is how Hitler deceived the good people of Germany.
We are translated into a new kingdom that is not of this world. We still have to live here, with the people who are not in the kingdom, living among the worldly nations, but we are not with them in there battle centered on the things of this world.
As Christians we must make a choice, be united with the people of this world, or be born again into a world, a kingdom where God is love. Not looking at souls after the flesh, seeing the spirit, the salvation of the soul, Jew or Greek.
Another thing is the civil wars. Fighting against your friends and neighbors, fighting against your kinfolks.
Let's see, 300 years ago, your relative punched my relative.
Where does the anger and hate stop? When you are translated into the kingdom of love and forgiveness by the Holy Spirit.
No, it ain’t got nothing to do with being teased or name calling, it’s a war that ended so many lives, and ruined even more for a mighty long time.
620,000 dead, in today's world, millions. What cause would be worth it? But that will not stop the worldly with hard hearts.
Syria is comparable. It’ll take generations to overcome the experiences of that war. The big difference is that the folks in the South had nowhere to go. They couldn’t escape. They had to await what the victorious ones would rule. And they did rule.
How many people who died in the American civil war, did you know personally? You have met them? Are those people alive and ruling today? The people from 150 years ago? They are all dead! Why attack innocent people of today who are not those people?
Some are angry and vengeful towards people that they have never met, didn't know, who have been dead for almost 100 years now, killed by others that they never have known. It will continue in the hearts of people all around the world, the spirit that says, "Hate those who you do not know," Until the soul finds the love and forgiveness that Jesus brings in the kingdom.
The major problem was that the northern government made the war solely a question about slaves. That was cunning. It made the South come across as the evil empire that deserved no mercy.
We weren't there. Are you responsible in any way for what happened? No. Why do you think that you should carry any responsibility for those events?
Because some insensitive bullies try to make it seem that way? We weren't there, not even close. Stop letting bullies take control of your heart, and making you feel guilty over things that you had nothing to do with and are not personally involved in from 150 years ago. They will ALWAYS be there.
It’s always somebody suffering more than others. But that kind of logic makes a healing process difficult.
Evil men with hearts full of pride bring suffering to all. But we can't let them have control over our love, we must be people with love in our hearts even though the world wants us to be like them.
We don’t hate anybody, we just want some respect for what we are. I’m not in favor of a secession, but it would be wise to realize how strongly a lot of folks are feeling about this.
I have always looked at the war as between brothers. War is the enemy, not the brother.
The flags and monuments should be preserved, or taken down, as the local people see fit.
I have always enjoyed the statues and the people they represent, but there are some who have turned those symbols of great men, into symbols of hate and division. If those great men could speak to us today, I believe that they would say, "Never let what happened to us, this nation, ever happen to this nation, or any nation ever again."
I see much denial on here. Folks saying “it ain’t like that”, but that’s not true. Many folks are feeling that they are being nullified. Folks like that will inevitably be destabilizing society at some point.
Remember that there are tares among the wheat. Foreign enemies who are lying, trying to divide the free world. Pretending to be something that they are not. They are encouraging the bullies.
Folks lack patience, that is one of the reasons why the country is so divided.
The world is not patient, but we must have the patience of eternity, having faith in love through the preaching of the gospel.
Both Obama and Trump are symptoms of an impatient society. Both the liberals and the conservatives are too hung up in swift changes in the country.
I remember when leaders were respectful of each other and other souls.
