I used a snarky meme. The target deserved it. It's still wrong. Sometimes I wish sarcasm weren't simply an expression of pride, anger, frustration or bitterness.
Snarky memes are the best ones!

Is it wrong for me to finally want to give in to my resistance to join twitter because of some wonderful, amazing but married actress???? I can't help it! :p

For the last couple or three months I've been beta testing a mod for a game. The mod is now released and rolling, and though I didn't do any actual work on it, I gotta say it's really good.

I want to somehow make myself an emotional Houdini - getting sucker punched in the stomach without crumbling. Emotionally. Physically, I know that will never happen.

I wish emotions weren't such a delicate thing for me. I used to be very emotionally stable.

I don't think I mentioned it on here, but I got a promotion at work. I get my own little office - the first office I've had in my life! I may or may not have gone a little overboard with buying things for decoration (both office-y things and regular decoration things) but 1) I want to have the cutest darn space in the building and 2) If I'm there for 40 hours a week, I want it to feel at least a little homey. I have a color theme and everything... I should probably feel embarrassed, but nah.

Some of my coworkers' work spaces are so blank. I don't know how they stand it, all the creative bones in my body would die, but I guess not everyone is as crazy as me.
I can think of better adjectives than crazy, such as creative, invested, excited, resourceful. Congrats on your promotion and new office space!
congratulations-178787.gif

You can't prevent it, but can minimize it. You have many if the tools to learn already. Read them. Apply them. Then expand to other areas.
Some people are unpredictable. Some through dishonesty, some due to their own issues being triggered unexpectedly. So theres no 100% prevention.

Emotions are God-given, but so is self-control. Having a good self-image based on Christ's love for us is foundational.

A big part of dealing with your own reactions is to recognize that most people aren't actually throwing junk at you specifically. At work we recently took a class called "verbal judo"... taught by a former police officer. He taught us how to dodge the verbal junk thrown at us, recognize it probably isn't personal, and choose our response rather than letting our emotions choose for us.

That said, we are built uniquely, and what works for one person might not work for the next. :)
