Jesus didn't recognise them as Christians,
Wouldn't this call into question His ability to recognize His sheep?
Jesus didn't recognise them as Christians,
What if the oil here refers to the measure of faith given to all and the 5 foolish ones choose not to believe?
Wouldn't this call into question His ability to recognize His sheep?
Again,nothing about the first redurrection
Please forgive - want to read this but haven't finished re-reading thread. Afraid I'll forget by the end so just putting it last for myself. So selfish of me.![]()
Regarding the 5 foolish virgins, I gotta agree with you that they were not "backslidden" but were never saved. In the parable they attempted to be saved by association with the 5 wise virgins. That is why they said give us some of your oil that we may have "salvation" as well. This is obviously not possible as salvation is of the heart and cannot be by proxy.
He knew everything about them.Jesus didn't say He never knew them, He said "I know you not", Jesus didn't recognise them as Christians, Because they were backslidden.
Perhaps the fact they are referred to as foolish means they were not saved. Perhaps it is trying to show us that when we don't rely on God but rather we try and do for ourselves how foolish we really are.
There is no mid-trib catching away for the GTS, for they are resurrected after the Lord returns to the earth to end the age as shown in Rev.20:4-6. The reason that we know that they are killed is because the elder tells John that they have come out of the great tribulation, which is the same 3 1/2 years that the beast is given power to make war against and conquer the GTS (Dan.7:25, Rev.13:5-7). John's vision of the GTS in Rev.7:9-17 is just that, a vision of those who will be killed during the great tribulation period. The only ones who are caught up in the middle of the seven years will be the male child/144,000 and the two witnesses (Rev.11:11, 12:5).
The 5 foolish virgins didn't go up in the rapture, they were left behind.
Although they were Christians, [The oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit], They were backsliden.
Jesus knew they were Christians...
That would mean Jesus did not understand salvation.
perhaps it is you who doesn't understand...
If you follow the story, virgin, light, oil is either a believer or a heathen.
Unless you think not enough oil could mean not enough salvation.
Jesus didn't recognise them as Christians, Because they weren't living right, they were backslidden.
If the five foolish virgins weren't saved, then neither was the five wise virgins, Because they were all the same, they all had the oil, [The Holy Spirit], although the oil in the foolish was so low, it was hard to recognise them as Christians.
Pretty much so.
I do not agree with the resurrection at the end of the GT.
Also there is another gathering you missed in rev 14. (there are three total in rev 14)

"Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
In the scripture above, John sees the GTS as beheaded, then he says "they came to life" and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. I would call that a resurrection.
I didn't miss the above, I just didn't comment on it. There are two harvests mentioned there. The second one is not a good harvest which is obvious and seems to be pointing to what happens when Jesus returns at Armageddon, as shown in Rev.19:15 "He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty." And the first one doesn't say whether it is good or bad nor does it state who is being harvested or if it is in chronological order. There is just not enough information to say what or when that harvest is. Also, there are only two listed, for the 144,000 who is the male child is caught up to God's throne in the middle of the seven years as described in Rev.12:5
