Monetary tithing was unheard of in Protestant churches until late-19th Century AD.
The Middle Tennessee Baptist's were not teaching it in 1934. One of their ministers, a John Harvey Grime, wrote in his book, "The Bible and History on the Tithe System" published in 1934, "No Baptist Church has ever adopted it. Should a Church adopt it, they would cease to be Baptist."
