Watching The Hobbit 1 again. I can say that overall I enjoy watching it, especially since Gandalf has always been my favorite character in the LOTR franchise.

But I don't enjoy it as much as the LOTR films... I think it's because The Hobbit is apparently being targeted at a younger audience. I heard the Hobbit 2 is targeted more at the LOTR audience than the younger demo, so I should enjoy that one more. I'm hearing mixed reviews about it so far, so we'll see.
I liked the cartoon animation feature length Hobbit better than the first of the Peter Jackson movie ones and all the LOTR ones, but, maybe, Return of the King, I really liked it.

Maybe why I liked The Hobbit animation one the most is I just was around 11 years old when I saw the animation 90-minute cartoon and, I think, it just has more, hmm, feeling? for me than movies; it has more 'memories,' yeah, that might be the word I'm looking for. I've seen the Hobbit at least half a dozen times since first seeing it.
So, yeah, I look forward to seeing Smog, one of my favoirte all-time scenes of all the cartoons, and, regular movies, is when Bilbo Baggins goes into *spoiler* Smaug's lair and talks to him about 'things,' and, 'the burglar' seems like he's in big trouble if Smaug can sense him but Bilbo has his ring and walks around the mighty Smaug in the mountain cave .

Haha, I haven't seen that one in a while... I enjoyed that too. :)

I heard people were a bit upset with Jackson's adaption of The Hobbit, because he apparently didn't keep a lot of it true to the novel. He only kept the major parts: Smaug the Dragon, Bilbo, the dwarves, etc.

People are saying that he's trying to fit his Hobbit franchise with the Lord of the Rings, so he gave Gandalf a whole different storyline in the Hobbit 2.

I don't enjoy reading that much to be honest... Lol. But I can understand why people get upset when their favorite books get altered for the films.

They did cut a lot out, kidcolella, I don't remember the animation version right now, be honest with ya, but, yeah, I've seen that cartoon Hobbit a lot of times in past years but just not recently.

I don't really want to see it now because I'm the type that likes to be surprised and there is so much in The Hobbit animation that I remember a lot of the movie but not all of it. I want Smaug 3-hour one to be fresh for me . I'm kinda wondering what will be in this one. I might get arwenbaggins' agreement on this but, I think, that, maybe, the 2nd part of the LOTR franchise was the weakest of the three sequels. WEll, that said, I'm guessing, that part two is going to be the weakest of the Hobbit franchise. I like that word you used by the way, 'franchise,' colekidcolaella :)

I am a bit surprised that Jackson is going to be able to draw The Hobbit franchise out in three different movies, like Lord of the Rings series. But, He's doing it and if any one can do it, Jackson can.

Peter Jackson is a great filmmaker, he made a great King Kong version. If you compare it to the 1970s King Kong, it's like watching a 'B' movie next to it. Actually, though, I thought the 1930s B&W King Kong was strangely dark and marvelous, especially when King Kong sweeps in his huge mitt through a big set of doors (windows) and grabs the heroine. That was creepy-cool, to me :)

I'm not sure what you mean about Gandalf's storyline but that guy always shows up at just the right time.
JRR Tolkien is a Christian so it makes sense that Gandalf's character is powerful, not God, because God we all know is ultimate powerful. But, there is visions of Gandalf being like God and Tolkien being a Christian makes this easier to, maybe, believe Tolkien's vision for the character.

I couldn't agree more bro. :) I think Jackson is great, and the 2005 King Kong film was incredible... And the guy who plays Gollum played Kong lol. Jackson always has such a talented cast. I never saw the old Kong films though.

I was also wondering the same thing, how Jackson was going to make 3 movies out of the Hobbit, especially since each movie is 3 HOURS lol. The first film was kind of slow for me at parts... I heard the second one has a lot more action, so we'll see how it goes. I'm hoping that Smaug will make the second one an enjoyable watch. I'm looking forward to seeing the special effects of Smaug, especially since Jackson did such a good job with Kong's special effects.

In the Hobbit 2, Gandalf is apparently going off on his own, and trying to figure out the mystery of the Morgul blade from the first film. I don't think he has a role in the Smaug storyline at all. Of course, I haven't seen it yet, so I dunno anything for sure.

I'm done with my classes for the semester!!! Finally.

Then, a toast !
Congratulations, colakidella. I always liked that time where I could say, 'One more week to go, just got to get through, and, I got some time off.' The grind was tough for that week, a lot of tests, projects, reports due, but, when done, the feeling was a total halelujah !

Use your free time well, bro .

[h=3]2 Thessalonians 3:6-12[/h] Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

[h=3]1 Timothy 5:13[/h] Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.

[h=3]1 Thessalonians 5:14[/h] And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.

[h=3]Proverbs 31:27[/h] She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

[h=3]1 Peter 2:1-25[/h] So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

[h=3]Ephesians 5:15-16[/h] Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Could someone anywhere tell me in all the threads about the law in Bible discussion what law are they talking about  The Ten Comandments ? Or all the OT laws from the part of The Bible which the Jewish faith calls the Torah?

I dunno but they better make sure the inside of their temple is clean first...

Matthew 23
23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
28
In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

you notice how when our younger sister in Christ asks them questions they run and hide. Ashamed of their false doctrine.
Thank you for guiding her, they supposedly have the answers but would deny them to a child. I will pray for them, I know what Jesus said about keeping the children from Him.
Thank you
love you,

Hisbucketsgirl, there's the Mosaic Law (law of Moses, 10 commandments God handed down to him) and the law of Christ, which Jesus spoke of and Paul, too, spoke of in the New Testament. And, of these two below listed, all the other laws fall under.

1. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, body, soul.
Matthew 22:

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[SUP]c[/SUP] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[SUP]d[/SUP] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

2. Love others as you love yourself.

Galatians 6:

Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. 2Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

The Lord leads, colakidella, may you do so, greatly, from your young age, always, the reward for doing so, will be great, both here and now and 'later.,' which is later in this life, and, late still, in the life forever after, with Him :) Keep your spirit strong in Him, He is with you, in your heart. The Lord leads. "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are sons and daughters of God." Romans 8:14 :)

When someone mentions "the law" they can be referring to any or all of that. It just depends on the context of what they're talking about.

Her nickname Buckets comes from her Dad, he calls her Buckets of Wonderful and she truly is.
She doesn't need my defense, she is so pure of heart and full of love.
I am not as innocent sadly, I am praying to be more like her in her grace and kindness. Someday I'll grow up and be more like a child in knowing Christ.

I say just little nice things to the law keepers and normally kinda ignore those threads. Like I say it's silly she doesn't need my defending. It is kinda the big sister in me. I have two baby brothers.

Anyway I've rambled too much and derailed this thread...

Yeah well I don't see how one could derail the Stream of Consciousness thread.
What I noticed was Buckets' questions were honest and respectful...deserving of an answer
And it's good you both watch out..FOR EACH OTHER
And as for your feisty side, I noticed it comes in handy for spiritual warfare when used within Gods will
Even Christ got a little feisty if we recall...I try to keep my feisty in check until its truly needed
God Bless you sister
