Excellent point!

I am definitely at an age where most people have kids, and sometimes even grandkids.

Keeping up with family and friends (and all the new additions, including pets) is challenging as it is -- I would definitely have to take a lot of notes if I were meeting several people at one time.

Aw, that's very kind of you, Stingray, thank you so much.

I have been writing paper letters to people since I fully learned how to write -- so starting at about 9 years old. And I've written letters to all kinds of people in all kinds of situations throughout my life. At one point I was writing inmates in prisons (until God told me to stop for my own safety,) and it was an inmate who gave me some amazing feedback. He told me that I had a way of writing letters that made it feel like I was right there, keeping them company, and having a conversation in person.

Ever since, I've taken that and ran with it. I came to this site in 2009, and I was incredibly nervous when I put up my first thread. And the even the next several ones after that. But eventually, it became very familiar to me, and the mods have been kind enough to allow me to keep doing so ever since.

It's all been a big part of "discovering God's calling" for my life. I'm not a teacher, I'm not a writer, I'm just a plain everyday person. But what I do think God has called me to be is a facilitator -- so my job is to get people talking... to each other. And God seems to have specifically designated this assignment to writing.

This site used to have voice chat rooms, and I quickly learned that I can't do the same thing in voice chats or in person. I could manage, but it would be very difficult for me and would drain all my energy. That's why I say I'm an introvert. Even these online discussions eventually exhaust me, and I have to step back for a while and recharge. Sometimes it takes months, so you'll see me come and go.

But the best part is that sometimes, I get to know a few people online very well and for a very long time, and we are eventually able to meet in person, which is such an amazing blessing.

It's part of what keeps me going. :) I find almost every conversation and everyday real-life events to be good thread inspirations, so God provides an abundance of ideas. :)

Many people have come and gone on this site, but a few told me that the threads here helped them feel less lonely in their daily life. This has become one of my biggest goals when starting these discussions -- to help people feel just a little less lonely.

Thank you so much for being part of all this! :) We're glad to have you here.

I'm currently not dating or really looking.

I'm not opposed to it, but I'm kind of an accidental dater -- I might know a guy for a long time and we've become good friends, and then, maybe, possibly, we might consider dating.

I'm also at an age where life isn't as flexible as it used to be -- it's important for me to be there for my parents, who are doing well but you know how life can change in an instant.

In the past, I probably could have moved most anywhere, but for now, I feel a strong need to be wherever my family is in case they need me.

How about you, Stingray? Seeing anyone or looking?

im not seeing but am looking but realize i have to be selective where i look because for example i go to the gym and work out and see women there but i quickly realize this world is becoming less and less aware of God and wanting him to be a part of their life. i know that i dont want anything less than a woman of God to accept less would be less than God desires for me and HER.

I'm trying to figure out how to explain what I'm thinking without sounding like a crazy person. I definitely am a crazy person, just trying not to sound like one 😜.

I've been kickin' round the pea patch for a while now. Had some unpleasant interactions, a few low-key stalking incidents, and just in general have come to realize that I'm much more commitment- phobic than most men I've come across. I seem to be a magnet for the "She said hi back, we're gonna get married" types. And these types are generally not entirely well. Therefore....

I actually find it kinda comforting when a guy has several women he's able to talk to and get to know and not immediately try to throw all his eggs in one basket. It makes me feel like he's not just talking to me because I'm the only one who said "hi" back. And allows me get to know him better without the pressure of an exclusive relationship.

If I were to like what I see enough to want a serious relationship (and assuming he felt the same way) , then at that point I would need it to be exclusive. But until then I would actually prefer if he was still talking to other ladies. 🤷‍♀️
Please don't be offended but I am wiping the tears away from laughing so hard.
You go girl (y)

There are good people in the Bible Discussion Forum -- it can take a while to find those whose posts you want to follow.

This is just me, but I look for people who don't post just in the BDF, but in other parts of the forum, too.

I like it when people give a more rounded view of who they are. :)

*Lynx snickers.

*Lynx also kitkats for good measure.

Yeah seoulsearch. You wouldn't know it from your activity on the forum. :p

*Lynx proceeds to laugh so hard he falls off his swivel chair.

Ahem... Sorry to hijack your post for this stingray, but this fits perfectly into an ongoing joke.

Hush, Cat.

You're blowing my cover. :p

The more people start to realize the truth, the less I can get away with!!:devilish:

Never mind the Lynx, he occasionally likes to pop in and talk a bunch of nonsense.

I think my introvertedness shows a lot more in person though -- more than one person I've met says something like, "Wow, I was expecting you to talk all the time, but in person, you hardly talk at all!":ROFL::ROFL: And I will often slink off into some quiet corner for an hour, half a day, week... until I once again emerge from my cocoon.

With writing, people can take a break or walk away at any time.

In person, they can't get away as easily, so I try to cut people a lot more slack.

I really thought we might get some honesty here about some who have tried dating multiple people at once. But I see that ship has probably sailed :LOL:
