My mom said the other day I've become more judgmental when I became christian. Unfortunately I get no good answers from Christian's. Either they say do not judge or they sa actually it says we can judge when the plank is out of our eye. Should I be arrogant enough to think I can see clearly? Either way the change I thought happened seems to be a lie.
Keep ya head up bro - don’t worry about what man thinks, but only worry about pleasing the Lord! 💜

I think that maybe theres a little misunderstanding of being judgemental and sins being repulsive to us the longer we walk with God.
Judging people is simply wrong. We should never forget where God saved us from and that people come from different backgrounds and all walks are different. One person may stop cussing quickly some it takes longer. Some dont have the knowledge and havent gotten the freedom yet that you have already.
Feeling somewhat disturbed when facing things you have conquered is normal. But we shouldnt focus on identifying people as that that we hate.
Rather see the creation who is struggling and seeing it as a opportunity to pray or encourage someone to do what is right.
My opinion

you were right to shut your mouth. only God can judge her.

Was I really right? What if she died in her sins? God will hold it against me. If she died in her sins, there is no second chance, there is no purgatory, she will go to hell for sure on judgement day.

I think many of us may not be able to distinguish between "Judging" (awareness for ourselves) and "Condemning" (broadcasting to a worldwide audience).

You were right in holding back “you’re going to hell” cause that’s up to God, however she needs to gently know the truth in a caring, loving way. Approach > content. Easier said than done especially if she is hard hearted.

Are we responsible in other people’s sins if we don’t tell them to ask for forgiveness? Anyone has scripture to back this up?
"18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself."
Ezekiel 3:18-19 NASB

The above was at least true for Ezekiel.

"Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him." Luke 17:3-4

"Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear." Proverbs 25:12

Paul confronted Peter head on in Galatians 2:11-14. And it was for good.

Well the way I understand it, is, that we do not judge unbelievers as it is not our place, it is God's. We do, however, make a judgement on whether something is right or wrong in principle. We cannot judge the heart, only God knows what is in someone's heart. So we stand for what is right and against what is wrong; like standing against abortion for example, or not agreeing with stealing etc. But the Bible says we are to have wisdom with those who are outside of the Faith.
It also tells us to not cast pearls before swine or they will turn and tear us to pieces ( ah it's good to be reminded of that one whilst on here🤔).

When the Bible tells us it is good to use it for reproof, then this shows that we judge the actions whether they be wrong or right, within the body of Christ; but not to condemn, only to help one another. We cannot, of course, force anyone to do what is good and right, or indeed, what is best for them.

It's not good of course to go around 'nit-picking' at each other, but rather to keep quiet and pray for each other, because we are told to strive for unity and it says, as far as it is possible to live peaceably with all....

But righteous judgement is important. We must up-hold what is right.

Every field has the people who use their skill in the field as a way to put themselves above everybody else.

Take S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for example. Great game, great story. But there are people who take pride in their skill in playing the game - getting through it in record low time, playing the whole game with only pistols, "using the MISERY mod is the only way to play it," "I've put 500 hours in on this game so I think I know more about it than you!"

Judgmental Christians are people who focus so much on how to play the game that they lose sight of the whole reason for playing it. They take pride in being better Christians than everybody else. This requires them to find fault with everybody around them, to support their view of themselves being at the top of the game.

Unfortunately judgmental Christians are the loudest kind of Christians, so people will expect you to be judgmental because that's what they think Christians are. We need muzzles on those dudes. >.>
But the greatest.... is love.

Well, for example we may sound/seem judgmental when we tell someone who does not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior that they are a sinner who deserves God's wrath. But it is truth (if they have not placed their faith in Christ), and necessary truth at that. We are called to do this (i.e. share the Gospel) in a humble, caring, loving manner, even if someone then labels us as judgmental. The fact cannot be skirted around: Sin kills without believing in the sacrifice of Jesus.

I honestly think a lot of it goes back to our own heart, our motive, our love (or lack thereof). God cares about our heart- it's talked about over and over in the Bible. If a Christian judges someone and they do so with jealousy in their heart, that's wrong I think. If a Christian judges another with anger and malice in their heart, I think that's wrong too. But when a Christian's greatest desire is for the sincere benefit of the other person (i.e. out of love), that is more along the lines of a righteous judgment. Though even then perhaps it may not be a totaly righteous judgment depending upon all of the details.

I wholeheartedly agree that we have to be oh so careful with this judging thing. But we shouldn't say, "I will absolutely never confront someone because I don't want to be known as judgmental." The prophets in the OT were probably known by most as pretty judgmental folk, but it was certainly God's will and business that they were doing.
"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one...."
is useful 🙂

@BrotherMike, I neglected to say hello to you. Forgive me. Greetings! 🙂 I hope you have a fabulous New Year.

I heard an analogy a couple of days ago that resonated with me. Mr. Zac Poonen gave it. He said something along the lines of, "Truth is like a bird with two wings. If you only have one side of the truth you will fly around and around in circles. Sometimes one Scripture is explained by another somewhere else in the Bible." This is so true in many ways. We have to seek out the whole truth.

The Bible definitely says, "Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgement, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things." Romans 2:1. So that is one wing of the truth: some judgment can be absolutely wrong. And I sort of understand why many Christians are afraid and hesitant to even consider the prospect of lovingly confronting someone. For one reason, maybe they are not at a place in their own spiritual walk where the log is out of their own eye. And we, Christians, do slip back into sin so we have to be careful to ever be testing ourselves. >> "You therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one should not steal, do you steal?" Romans 2:21

But on the other side of the bird is the second wing, which should not be thrown away as useless. (Nor should the first side mentioned above be cast away either. Both are critical.) "Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one of you looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted." Galatians 6:1. While judgment may not be directly mentioned here, a righteous judgment comes prior to the direction to "restore". So the other wing of truth in regard to judgment is: some judgment can be absolutely right.

As @IAm7 pointed out, we have to seek God about when, how, if we are to judge. And our heart has to be right in doing so.

I fear many modern Christians, including myself, have been in the habit of sacrificing God's call to holiness for the sake of temporary comfort- whether it be for our own comfort or others'. We are not called, as followers of Christ, to be comfortable necessarily. And we definitely are not called to be comfortable in sin. That's dangerous. We are called to take up our cross and follow Him, dying to ourselves.

I just hope it can be seen that truth, figuratively speaking, can have two wings and we have to depend upon both of them and use both of them as we are soaring through the air. I pray we fly to greater heights together in Christ.

@Kojikun, I hope this has given some food for thought. I admire that you are seeking the whole truth- God's whole truth about the judgment matter. I humbly encourage you to look to Him to give the answers. I pray He blesses your pursuit, Brother.

There is also James 5:20 (to bring the NT view into it :))

remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way
will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

No doubt there are other verses as well :)

Thank you so much for your first post in this thread. One has to wonder if those who reject the moniker of "Christian" due to their criticisms and judgments of Christians, likewise reject the label of human, human nature being what it is. Being judgmental and critical of Christianity has become a great pastime in these last days  How odd that those who are so critical and judgmental of Christians and Christianity do not acknowledge their own critical, judgmental natures. Perhaps when they judge and criticize, they call it "discernment" and it is only others, in their view, whose judgments and criticisms are seen as despicably reprehensible.

This little quiz might be fun for you:)
13 Signs You’re a Judgmental Person
Here are some signs to look out for:
1. You believe that everyone is out to get you.
2. You expect other people to be consistent all the time.
3. You struggle to see beyond a person’s flaws.
4. You easily skip to conclusions.
5. You struggle to tolerate ambiguity and uncertainty.
6. You’re intolerant of people unlike you.
7. You’re generally pessimistic about life.
8. You tend to believe people are either ‘good’ or ‘bad.’
9. You struggle to truly appreciate or see the beauty in others.
10. You have low self-worth.
11. You feel anxious around other people.
12. You’re suspicious and untrusting.
13. You have a strong inner critic who judges you.
Be honest. How many of these signs can you relate to? Also, did you receive any strong or uncomfortable feelings while reading through this list (e.g. anger, defensiveness, shock, fear)? If so, you were probably triggered, meaning that judgmentalism is likely an issue for you.
...ugh pretty much all the above 😱 is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks Magenta that helped. I struggle with certain sins and it always felt wrong to rebuke others who struggle with it. I know why now.
