At least I make the attempt. At least I don't think I perfectly know someone just based on a few comments. At least I attempt to watch how I'm behaving and then own my stupid behavior and flaws.

Some people have nowhere else to vent but online. A fourth of people my age have no close friends, including me. And it's not from lack of trying. I've reached out and tried to be friendly for years, and I got tired of people neither noticing nor caring.
I will be your friend. But please stop bad mouthing people. Go back and read how often you do that.

I think you are correct.......Don't know that they are the ONLY reason for the sudden explosion, but one would have to be a fool to not know that they have served to desensitize our children/young adults/and even older adults who grew up playing them.

The "gun" is not to blame for these murders.......that is true. If every gun in the Country were to suddenly disappear, folks would just find another way to kill someone..........BUT....... semi automatic weapons that can be modified to fully automatic and the xtra large clips that are being sold DO make it possible for evil people to murder many, many more innocent people in a much shorter time.

Not too many instances of a knife wielding kid going into a school and killing 20 or so Students, Teachers, and others........or those wielding rocks/bats/or pretty much any other device that could be used to kill someone.

That is why the NRA and all supporters of the 2nd Amendment NEED to realize that the time has come to sit down and reach some common sense solutions to the problem. OR just KILL 'EM ALL AND LET GOD SORT 'EM OUT.......
Look up any study on whether video games cause violence, and almost all of them do not agree with you. I grew up with a third-person shooter, and I turned out fine (mostly).

Maybe I don't want to be your friend. Why would I want to be friends with someone who's not willing to take their own advice?

Just can't IMAGINE why you would be struggling to find friends!

Yes. That's sarcasm.

As for the video games, there are plenty of men in my life and my family who play first-person shooters and RPGs and games rated M. And you know what? I know these men well enough to know that they'll take a bullet for me. If a shooting were to happen and they were around, they'd wrestle that person to the ground.

Again, you don't know how hard I've tried, and again, you've shown me that you aren't willing to take your own advice.

I'd give you advice but then you'll just tell me how I have no business telling you.

I'd tell you I at least try, but then you'd just call me self-righteous.

See the Catch-22?

Regardless, be consistent and call out ALL violent media, books, movies, games, whatever.
You have no clue what you're talking about. Kids didn't go out in droves and hound their parents to buy them violent books and violent movies were nothing like they are today. Those same kids would camp out at the local electronics store so they could get the newest shooter game. Anyway, done with you and this thread. Adios.

Seriously though, there are some vile people online, people I thought were nice at first. I cut off this one guy when his behavior started getting weird. He started out nice and friendly at first, but in the end, he ended up cussing me out.

Oh movies back then were way more violent. Bonnie and Clyde. The Godfather. Red Dawn. Die Hard.

Have you looked at any movies from the 1920s? They're more graphic and violent than a lot of mainstream stuff today. And by the way, there's a difference between gun violence in movies and shooting guns in movies.

Back in the 1980s the PG rating actually meant something. A lot of PG-rated movies from back then would be PG-13 today.

No. Back then kids would go out into racist riots and gang violence.

I've seen all of those. They were nothing compared to movies like Kill Bill, Sicario..

Are they? Bonnie and Clyde's ending is one of the most violent I've ever seen. If that scene were in Kill Bill, they'd put it in black and white like they did with half the movie.

Again, watch more movies from the 1920s, if you can find them. And don't give me that excuse of "They didn't know what was acceptable yet!"

Tons of nudity, graphic violence, porn, smoking, drinking, all that stuff.

No one's going to watch bonnie n clyde or the godfather or any other movie and be inspired to do a mass shooting. The thing with video games is that it's the player that is doing the shooting and he/she gets addicted to racking up thier score and honing their shooting skills AND they play it when they want release from stress, etc.. It makes them feel good. That is the connection between shooter games and mass shooters.

Then why did these two kids in the 1970s read this book by Stephen King about a kid holding his class hostage, and then do the same thing? By the way, after those incidents, King put that book out of print. You know why? He knew it was inspiring people.

People can be inspired by anything violent to do violent things themselves. Don't blame it all on video games. If anything, the past was even more violent than it is now. Look at Prohibition Era America. Look up the Valentine's Day massacre. Ah, the good old days. When racism was at its peak and gangsters were killing each other over illegal alcohol.

Ok so you know everything and I don't even though I've lived here in the US all my life and remember when mass shootings became frequent. You obviously have something to prove and have no real desire for understanding and I've been stupid enough to play along. Well I'm done. You can continue your self-righteous, arrogant little game with someone else.

I'm only asking you to be consistent and condemn all forms of violent media. I never said I know everything.
