Best to look at Hebrews 5:9 in context.... "saved" needs to be understood within the context of the bigger picture since one can be "saved" from many things.

The book of Hebrews actually affirms the security of the believer in Christ.
Are you joking?:). I guess it contains something referring to "WORKS" so it obviously won't be about salvation according to your OSAS belief system.

OSAS eternal security from John CAlVIN actually. It's one of his theological ideas based on the 5 points of Calvism TULIP.
The eternal assurance of the believer has nothing to do with John Calvin it precedes him actually, starting with Genesis with the actions and promises of God.

Hi Roger, do you know that the grace of God actually trains us to renounce ungodliness and live an upright holy lifestyle. Also the bible says do not sin so grace may abound, how can we who have died to sin live in it anymore. Also that we shouldnt use Gods grace as a license for immorality. So God does have grace but that grace, doesn't turn a blind eye to sin, as people are claiming it too. And what scripture suggests that God views us as "clean" even if we practicing wickedness?. Where are you told your future sins are forgiven even before you have done them? Where is the scripture that has the words "FINISHED WORK" of Christ?. Where in the bible does it say we are justified by the term faith "ALONE". Not faith, but FAITH ALONE".

I read what's in the bible and DEMON faith- faith alone doesn't save according to the bible. Its Just believing a God exists.

Throughout the bible there are warnings about falling and away and departing from the faith. Some where saved and some weren't saved.

Thanks
Well you answered the question You do not know if you are good enough or if you have done enough to get to heaven. That means that you have already failed and will not receive eternal life with Christ.

Jesus said only to those who came to Him that they need to believe not to work. Jesus gave no one any works to do to attain heaven. those who were working were told to believe and receive. Yes they were to cease from labors that were heavy and difficult to bear but only through Him could they reach the divine standard.

You and the pope will find out too late that there is nothing a sinner can do to save himself. That which is unclean cannot do anything that God will accept except repent and trust Christ.

For the cause of Christ

Always good to search out what the word "obey" means in context and the meaning of the word in the original language.

Though John Calvin definitely taught "eternal security", not all who hold to that doctrine get it from his writings.

Ro 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Ga 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Nothing wrong with repenting from sin and endeavoring to live for Christ but none of that is for righteousness sake. We do not become any more righteous or any less righteous but are made the righteousness of Christ by grace.

Of course where not justified by the law, but God still expects us to live a holy lifestyle and renounce ungodliness. Read throughout the bible his commands regarding holy living and turning from wickedness. Throughout the new testament works of the law are mentioned- telling us not to go back to the law of Moses because we are under the new covenant now, since Jesus died. But that doesn't mean we can just pretend like they're are no commands regarding holy living and obeying God.

Why does their have to be special interpretations for everything according to OSAS believers. Like the bible was made for einstein. Just read it for what it is:)

The eternal security of the believer is the Gospel
Actually (at least in my view) the gospel is not about man. The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ - his life, his death, and his resurrection.

The Greek word here means literally "good news" - which is translated as "gospel" in most English versions.

Why are you casting judgment for no apparent reason?
Hey, if you are not "trying to save yourself", then the accusation does not apply to you! Let others say what they want, salvation comes through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Salvation does not come through belief in and acceptance of a doctrinal system of belief.

Not judgement just a statement of fact according to scripture. The justified cannot be unjustified and justification cannot be earned.

Salvation is a gift it cannot be earned.

Abraham Justified by Faith
…3For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 4Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation. 5However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.…

Well you may disagree, but there is no "Good News" if salvation can be lost, because not one person is capable of holding onto their salvation, we would all fail.

LOL! I guess it can be said of you: it looks like it was said of you! It has been said of me too! And it may be said of me some more!

But that does not change my belief in Jesus Christ and Him alone! My Lord and my God! Hallelujah!

I am not writing about you I am writing about salvation, what it is, and why it is secure in Christ.

If salvation can be lost or cannot be lost is no worry for me! The good news for me is that Jesus Christ lived a righteous life, died a death on Calvary and rose from the dead!

Amen, hallelujah, He lives, and as I believe in Him, I also live as a Son of the King!
