are you just winging it?
I have faith the Lord will deal with the false prophets and those performing lying signs and wonders.
it doesn't mean I don't fear for them - who wants someone they know to be cast out, as Jesus said he would do.

He said He would judge and I believe He has started. We have seen mega churches fall. Not all...perhaps those whose motives were money which I believe is the problem of false prophets. They are called hirelings. They don't care for the sheep but what they get.
Holy Spirit hasn't left the world. If He ever does...I hope I'm gone.
I am very careful on judging others though. Its not in my job description. Is it in yours?

I'm not married to the idea that the corinths were uttering pagan tongues.
paul's admonitions work just fine when applied to actual recipients of the supernatural gift who did not also have to ability to interpret (translate the various languages).
if paul was given the gift of tongues - let's say he could suddenly speak french - if he didn't have the gift of interpreting the messages he was uttering, then HIS UNDERSTANDING WOULD BE UNFRUITFUL.
why is this hard?

[/FONT][FONT=Helvetica Neue, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif] this chapter addresses the abuse of the gifts and the gifts all of them including tongues are to be operated in love. no where in this chapter does Paul suggest any gift has stopped.
verse 8 to 13 :

Context of each much be addressed has knowledge ceased? no! has [FONT=Helvetica Neue, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]prophecy ceased ? no many have yet to be fullfilled. Has tongues ceased ? if we are looking at the context of the text and passages the answer is no. have we come to fully know? as verse 12, 13 in this chapter of 13 speak about ? no.[/FONT]
[FONT=Helvetica Neue, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif] ALL THE GIFTS HAVE BEEN MISUSED [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica Neue, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]here are some that many have no issue with and do far more damage then those immature about Tongue use in and out of the church[/FONT][FONT=Helvetica Neue, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif] :
[/FONT] gift of Preaching, Praise and worship leaders, Deacons, and bishops Pastors , and all of the five fold . Paul is not in anyway trying to stop these gifts but instruct on love and maturity when using them.
Chapter 14 is the correction, instruction and discipline of those who are using the gifts and how they are to be operated in Love, for the purpose of edification, exhortation, and building up. Who is to judge and what to do if one speaks presumptuously. Elders are to correct. we disciple , we teach. this is the big problem with church today many are half baked cakes . it's not spiritual enough or way to much and no understanding of Gods word or HIS Spirit. both have been in error and pride has blinded them all.
the very last verses in chapter 14 say this about all three chapters it's amazing many miss this
38,39, and 40
"38 [FONT="]But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.[/FONT][FONT="]39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.[/FONT]
40 [FONT="]Let all things be done decently and in order.[/FONT] NASB"
All the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active today in the"Church"they have not ceased
who are you to judge it real? can you 100% disprove it in scripture, no you can't. can you say without a doubt that it is fake? no you can't, you judge it by what you see, then you call it the of the devil. you don't think the devil would try and mimic it in the world. he tries to mimic everything God does. i would check any fear you have when it comes to speaking in tongues, it might just be the spirit scratching on a hardened heart.
While I can't say this with 100% certainty, I would suspect that anyone doing it in front of a camera would be faking it. 'Prayer tongues' are to be done in private, between you and God. Which is one reason I'm not a big fan of the pentasmics thing. They forget this. They're the reason Paul wrote about time and place in 1 Cor 14.
Keys to discernment are, 1 does it glorify God, and 2 does it edify the speaker.
Look, I understand there are fakes, if I had to venture a guess I'd say they out number the genuine uses. I also understand that anyone pushing them on others (pushing, not explaining) is fake as well.
A couple days ago my wife and I were decorating her mom's church (Lutheran Missouri Synod) and the deacon said "I'd go to a pentecostal church but I don't want to speak in tongues". I told him that if they insist he does he should walk out.
God never said you have to. He just said you should be open to it, and do it right or don't do it at all.

I Think you make a good point, but I would argue Paul has addressed this in chapters 12, 13, and 14. if it is a tv minster or a service on tv the word of god is not effected by that. nor are they requirements null in void . They are out of order they are to be addressed. it is those who are mature who GOD is holding responsible to correct, and teach. many of us have failed in this area IMHO
