Romans 8:26 ¶ Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Groanings are not tongues.

Jude 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Still no tongues.

For the cause of Christ

I agree with Trof.... not to belittle "tongues", but that scripture seems to indicate how the Spirit will pray FOR us, with words that we cannot even utter... in other words, we pray, imperfectly, but the Spirit tells the Father what we really MEANT to say.

Having experienced both types of praying - tongues which are personal speaking to the Father as 1 Cor. 14:2 talks about and also the groaning of the spirit within myself - I would say that they are separate and unique and yet both sourced by the Hoy Spirit within us. We are joined as one spirit with the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17

Here is an example of Jesus experiencing this very thing as He too operated by the Holy Spirit within Him which is complete dependence on the Father. Jesus said it was the Father in Him doing the works by the Person of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord is upon Him...

John 11:33 (KJV)
[SUP]33 [/SUP] When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

I don't pray in tongues as 88 is implying I don't have a tongue of fire or speak in a different or unique language but father and I do have a specific way of communicating that I call a language of the hearts. see often times I cannot express my feelings for him whether that is love or misery because the feeling of it is just to deep the word love for instance when I want to express my vast love for him just doesn't fit the bill it doesn't even begin to express it and so I let my heart speak for me I pour my feelings for him into his own heart.

See our hearts have eyes have mouths have arms that can reach out have ears just like our bodies except the mouth eyes ears and tongue of our hearts can do what we ourselves cannot, sometimes there are just no words to express what we want to say sometimes there is no word that the human tongue can speak to express what we want to say and this is when the groaning of the spirit comes in it's a language of the hearts.

The interesting thing about such a language is that it's not a one way communication he often times expresses his own thoughts feelings and how he sees into our hearts. Have you ever been praying to him and pouring your anguish out to him and suddenly felt a comfort or peace or a sense of tranquility? that his him pouring his heart into you. have you ever expressed your deep love for him and felt a warmth inside? feeling your face smile so much that your muscles hurt because you are not used to smiling like that? that is again him pouring his own feelings and thoughts into you.

but as for my problems I don't know if prayer in tongues will solve them or not as many of my problems are my own fault but many times problems are not what they appear and are a blessing in disguise

I don’t see anything in those verses that suggests we pray in tongues.

[26] Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.
[27] And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 RSV

[20] But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit;
[21] keep yourselves in the love of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 20-21 RSV

I'd rather speak five words of my own understanding than ten thousand in an unknown tongue.

So will praying without tongues.
I heard a story one time about a lady that just heard a sermon that her Father loves her and that He will protect her. It was on Psalm 91. She was attacked on her way home and she couldn't remember anything other than - she cried out - "Feathers Father" ( she remembered that He will cover her with His feathers ). The attacker all of a sudden ran away.

Sometimes just a word or two is enough - a heart's cry of faith in Him from His beloved children always gets the Father's attention.

Thank you, I arrived at this conclusion after extensive study in examining, The United Pentecostal Church doctrines, who teach that Romans 8:26 is about speaking in tongues. They also teach you cannot be saved unless you speak in tongues. I witnessed the agony of one member who had been baptised with them and believed in Christ yet was told time and again that they needed to speak in tongues as evidence of salvation.

Tongues, is it a work God, as the things of God or a work of men, as the thing of men?

It was more that he communicated (two way) in a tongue more because he was in more places with language differences . No such thing a praying in a tongue with any approval .The understanding is ;if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

The idea that we need to pray in a secret language that no one can understand is not a biblical doctrine.

Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.1Co 14:13

No such thing as a sign gift.Signs are for those who are in rebellion (no faith). Prophecy for those who believe (have faith)
