I corinthians 3 talks about their lording it over one another...as if Paul, or Peter, or Apollos mattered...they were crediting their abilities to the men whom they were considering their leaders and teachers:...
None of these men were Corinthians, and there is no indication that Paul was faulting himself, Cephas, or Apollos for lording over others.

I follow Paul, I follow Peter, I follow Apollos...
How is this related to how they used spiritual gifts.

Paul had to remind them that these men are just men...they cant baptize anyone into themselves...that it is CHRIST alone, and HIS BODY and HIS PURPOSE that gifts of HIS BODY are given.
If they had baptized in their own name, it wouldn't have done any good.

Also, if God used apostles as instruments to impart the Spirit, the baptism with the Holy Spirit, and spiritual gifts, it does not mean they were the source of the Spirit or that the Spirit of God can only work exclusively through them. Jesus is the One Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

Please read all of corinthians again...they were not showing love in the Body. They were prophecying over one another at gatherings, no one was following orderly worship and Paul´s concern was for unbelievers who would look at their behavior and NOT understand what was going on...
You write as if prophesying over one another was disorderly. Paul told them to do it and how to do it in an orderly manner. Maybe they weren't taking turns, were not yielding the floor for another sitting by who received a revelation or not following the instructions he gave. Or maybe they were spending a lot of time on uninterpreted tongues, taking up the time that could have been used for prophesying. Paul was encouraging them to prophesy and interpret their tongues.

The order Paul commands assumes charismata at work in the congregation. There is no passages of scripture specifically for a cessationist church meeting.

Members of the body of Christ should minister to one another the way the Bible teaches.

Yes, believe the Bible and what it states...
But remember, that all Paul´s letters were written to the believing churches in CHRIST...those who had heard the GOSPEL and had come to believe that JESUS is the savior. and had put their faith in HIM as the ONE who came forth from GOD and into the world..also remember, that all these letters were written as issues arose in the believing body, and that Paul did not write to anyone OUTSIDE the body.
How does believing in the Holy Spirit, the One He left for us, to help us, to bear witness, who gives assurance, reminds us of our Lord, take away from our Lord and Savior?

We see some of the works of the Spirit of God in 1 Cor 7-8.

Also But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11 NASB

Believing in the Holy Spirit doesn't take away from the truth of Jude 1:24-25 and 1 Corinthians 1:30-31
I think we all agree He is the way and that no one gets to the Father without Him.

I will go now. Thank you for your time.

Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus/Yeshua, if there was anything I said that was in error, please forgive me and lead me into proper understanding.

I will now shhhhhh, lol. I need the Holy Spirit to help me with that, BIG TIME, lol.

God Bless you.

Because I can not remember how to separate sentences with my response, my posts are in blue...I am so not sure how you interpreted this from my post,,,
None of these men were Corinthians

I am not sure why you even said this. The letter to the ´corinthians´ was a letter addressed to the Church at Corinth.,..Iḿ not even sure why this would matter and where you thought I was saying that these men were corinthians.

After we make our decision with ALL our heart and choose Salvation by receiving Yeshua/Jesus as our Lord and Savior by faith, we are "sealed" with the Holy Spirit immediately and marked as God's possession.

However, the "baptism" and "continually being filled" with the Holy Spirit is a Gift from the Father - just as He gave us the Gift of His Son - He gives us the Gift of His Holy Spirit which empowers us to live this new life in Christ that has been given us.

Sealed with the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:12-14 King James Version (KJV)

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

After we are "sealed" with the Holy Spirit, God wants to "baptize" us with the Holy Spirit. Our body is to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit - to be indwelt with the Holy Spirit. This is Emanuel - God with us on the Earth.

The "baptism" with the Holy Spirit is the first time God fills you with His Holy Spirit.

Baptized with the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) not many days hence.

Acts 19:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

To help understand this, Solomon built the first Temple in Jerusalem and after the priests had placed the Ark in the Holy of Holies and left the temple, the Glory Cloud (Holy Spirit) filled the temple.

1 Kings 8:10-11 New International Version (NIV)
10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple.

The same happens to us - it's phenomenal! Absolutely a joyous time! You'll know when it happens.

After we are saved with the Body and Blood of Yeshua/Jesus, sealed with the Holy Spirit and baptized in water.......

we need to get baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit, but how?

Simply ask the Father and the Lord Yeshua/Jesus Christ, "Father, Lord Jesus, I receive Your Gift of the Holy Spirit, baptize and fill me. Indwell me with Your Holy Spirit, I want to live with You on the Earth now and for all eternity. I choose Life. Your Gift of Eternal Life in me. Thank You, Father, in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus, amen."

The Holy Spirit dwells within us and with us on the Earth - just as Yeshua/Jesus was with His disciples on the Earth. The Holy Spirit will teach us, guide us, counsel us, comfort us, instruct us, correct us, empower us to be an effective witness of Yeshua/Jesus, and always be with us.

After the "baptism" of the Holy Spirit, the scriptures open up so beautifully to us and the things of God begin to make sense, we receive understanding and our love for God and His Ways increases tremendously.

However, loving God is ALWAYS a choice. He never takes the "choice" away from us. Every day if we do not choose God, then our flesh gets stronger and we backslide.

It's very important to STAY "filled" with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit NEVER leaves us, but our flesh can quench it and grieve it.

Filled and Continually Filled with the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:4 New International Version (NIV)
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 4:31 New International Version (NIV)
31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Acts 13:52 King James Version (KJV)
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

2 Timothy 1:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

We stay continually filled by NOT neglecting the Gift of the Holy Spirit. We read, study and meditate on God's Word, praying, singing songs in our hearts to God, fellow-shipping with other believers, etc.

Our flesh grieves the Holy Spirit. We need to learn to walk by the Spirit so we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. It's a choice to stay filled. The Holy Spirit never leaves us, but we need to know how and keep the Holy Spirit stirred up within us.

Go and read ALL the scriptures that mention the Holy Spirit in the Bible. These are just a few of the scriptures. Don’t put your trust and confidence in denominational doctrines.
As I am experiencing this right now, it is true. Being "saved " is one thing, being constantly "upgraded" via the Holy Spirit is something entirely seperate . This thread shows me many here are merely "saved" and aren't on the next part of the spiritual journey. I don't want to cast pearls before swine, so wont go into any more detail here

It was disorderly...go back and read 1 corinthians...
I agree that the passage implies that they were behaving in a disorderly manner. The passage seems to imply they weren't interpreting their tongues because he spent so much ink explaining the need for it.

But prophesying is not inherently disorderly. His instructions on how to prophesy told how to prophesy in an orderly manner:

I Corinthians 14
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

Proper church order lets the prophets speak. It has a speaking prophet be silent if another sitting by receives a revelation.

Forbidding to prophesy is disorderly. 'Let everything be done decently and in order" refers to the divinely revealed order, and includes the order described in this passage--Biblical order. It is not a command to follow later Roman Catholic liturgies or liturgies developed during the Protestant Reformation.

I am responding to this sentence:
Please re read 1 Corinthians 3....

Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual, but as worldly—as infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready, 3for you are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and dissension among you, are you not worldly? Are you not walking in the way of man? 4For when one of you says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere men?
5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his role.

6I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose,a and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

PAUL IS REMINDING THE BELIEVERS AT CORINTH THAT HE, PAUL and APOLLOS are JUST MEN

10By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as if through the flames.

16Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells inb you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
18Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”c 20And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”d
21Therefore stop boasting in men. All things are yours, 22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephase or the world or life or death or the present or the future. All of them belong to you, 23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

Do you get prophecies in the same way?

I've never gotten the interpretation in church. I have known people who experienced getting the interpretation like that, then someone says the same words they got as the interpretation. One of them was a young teenager who was confused by it and described what happened to him. I don't think he realized it was interpretation of tongues at the time. My college roommate used to experience that, and other people. Similar things happen with prophesying. I've gotten words of knowledge, then someone else prophesied what I got before I could share it.
How wonderful!!

Prophecies usually tell us of something God is about to do or going to do. He likes to keep us informed - not everything - just what He wants us to know. Basically, we get the "memo" and we share it with others that need to know - it edifies them.

Just as we communicate and receive forms of information with our 5 physical senses (see, hear, taste, touch, smell), we also receive information by the Holy Spirit with our 5 spiritual senses which are also - sight, hear, taste, touch and smell.

So, prophecies can come in various ways - it's however the Holy Spirit wants to communicate with us.

That's all good. We agree that Paul and Apollos were just men.

But the odd thing is that I responded to you that I didn't see any evidence of lording over others--referring to a specific quote of yours-- then you respond like this, as if something I said were contrary to the idea that Paul wanted the Corinthians to know that he and Apollos were just men. It is like you are responding to some imaginary thing you thought I said.

You did that earlier, too, quoting scripture.

It's not that I disagree with what you wrote, above. It's just that you are responding to an imaginary straw man version of me or something like that.

There are no more prophets... Only witnesses who testify of CHRIST JESUS. There is nothing that will be added to the story of our salvation in by and through JESUS CHRIST...and anyone who does add to the story of our salvation in by and through JESUS CHRIST does not even understand the magnitude of THE GOSPEL...

Jealousy and dissension and a disorderly church and a calling out prophecies as if they were somehow trying to out do one another, all with lack of love is lording it over one another, trying to out do one another...mentioning their leaders is also clearly their trying to imply one was better over the other...

Read 1 corinthians 3 again...

No there isnt

There is nothing that will be added to HIS WORD...nor is there anything that will be taken away from HIS WORD>..

If you are prophecying...it should be of CHRIST...to a lost world who needs to hear the GOSPEL...that was our work and call to be HIS WITNESS,..,.

You are to expound the scripture and how it points to CHRIST...forth telling what is already written for us...
