Your rejection of the definition of δίδωμι found in Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament has nothing to do with my study.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon concerning Acts 5:31:

6. δίδωμι is joined with nouns denoting an act or an effect
...
b. the noun denotes something to be done by him to whom it is said to be given: διδόναι τίνι μετάνοιαν, to cause him to repent, Acts 5:31; Acts 11:18; γνῶσινσωτηρίας,Luke 1:77; ἐλπίδα τίνι, 2 Thessalonians 2:16.
I havent rejected the definition, I agree with it, Im just more enlightened on what the word means than you. It means " to cause to repent"

Deep sorrow for what YOU personally have done
Is what Repentance is
Not lightly skimming over or repeating a rote prayer some evangelist told you to say
If you are deeply and profoundly sorry for your life choices and the results you brought on yourself And you fully understand your separation from God and truth is due to your own actions
It's a powerful moment

Very few people who call themselves "Christian" have experienced this kind of Repentance
So they twist scripture to make it fit their self governing perception
Making a jail of self will and dellusion
And never knowing the freedom that is available by being "In Christ Jesus"

In my opinion its a evasion and rabbit trail, it has no bearing whatsoever on God granting repentance to His Elect. Acts 5:31;11:18
Now you're changing Scripture:

Acts 5:30-31 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Act 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

The reason not all Israel and not all gentiles repent is because God's offer of repentance is rejected by some ... just as Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament indicates in its definition of δίδωμι:

6. δίδωμι is joined with nouns denoting an act or an effect
...
b. the noun denotes something to be done by him to whom it is said to be given: διδόναι τίνι μετάνοιαν, to cause him to repent, Acts 5:31; Acts 11:18; γνῶσινσωτηρίας,Luke 1:77; ἐλπίδα τίνι, 2 Thessalonians 2:16.

And an added bonus, Thayer's definition of δίδωμι as it pertains to Acts 5:31 and Acts 11:18 aligns perfectly with Ez 33:11 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways ...

Well, it doesn't surprise me that you have no issue changing Thayer's to prop up your rendering of Scripture since you have no problem changing God's Word [in Post #440 you changed "Israel" in Acts 5:31 and "gentiles" in Acts 11:18 to "His Elect"].

And, no, you do not agree with Thayer's definition because you have to remove part of the definition in order to agree with it:

6. δίδωμι is joined with nouns denoting an act or an effect
...
b. the noun denotes something to be done by him to whom it is said to be given: διδόναιτίνι μετάνοιαν, to cause him to repent, Acts 5:31; Acts 11:18; γνῶσινσωτηρίας,Luke 1:77; ἐλπίδα τίνι, 2 Thessalonians 2:16.

and @brightfame52, the "something to be done" is that we are not to reject what God has given.

When the believer does not reject what God has given, that does not equal something "for sinners to perform in order to get saved" any more than someone receiving a gift of $1,000 equals that person "earning" the gift.

what you stated reminds me of the godly sorrow mentioned in 2 Cor 7:10.

Strongs Greek Lexicon:

δίδωμι dídōmi, did'-o-mee; a prolonged form of a primary verb (which is used as an alternative in most of the tenses); to give (used in a very wide application, properly, or by implication, literally or figuratively; greatly modified by the connection):—adventure, bestow, bring forth, commit, deliver (up), give, grant, hinder, make, minister, number, offer, have power, put, receive, set, shew, smite (+ with the hand), strike (+ with the palm of the hand), suffer, take, utter, yield.

You are saying that God does not give repentance to those He clearly and unequivocally tells us His desire is that they turn from their evil ways.

God gives repentance to some Acts 5:31;11:18 Ezk 33:11 has nothing to do with it, thats evasion and rabbit trail.

No, it is not evasion and it is not a rabbit trail. It is God's Word which you need to come to understand in order to completely comprehend Acts 5:31, Acts 11:18, Ezk 33:11 ...

The giving of repentance causes them to repent. The giving effects repentance, its not an offer !
