The Lord God creator of the heavens and earth....does not need your defense. He just asks you to love people.
So when He tells us to reprove the works of darkness? That means we just sit around and let folks teach false doctrine and promote false prophets to you? Ok you do it your way and I will do it the way the bible describes.

2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Well JesusLives, you knew what you were getting into when you started responding to posts in this forum. =^.^=

Quote For The Day: "Arguments in the Bible Discussions forum are like washing windows. All the dirt always seems to be on the other side."

Alternative QFTD: "Threads in the Bible Discussions forum are like russian roulette. The only winning move is to not play."
well, it is quite a quagmire in a lot of threads...... that is true. very dangerous for seekers and newbies and others.

......
"Satan appeared to be by the throne, trying to carry on the work of God. I saw them (Christians) look up to the throne, and pray, 'Father, give us Thy Spirit.' Satan would then breathe upon them an unholy influence ..." (Early Writings, p. 56).

So when you ask the Father for the Holy Spirit...satan really gives you a evil spirit.......
yet, without any reference to sda, the same is true in many other churches...... (probably over 4 out of 5 on earth)
so
don't
hold it against just one group. test everything, everywhere, even 'if' an apostle or angel of light proclaims it ! as scripture says - test everything. almost everything on earth(by men) is fake.

Again, you will stand in judgment before God for these accusations. Not just against EGW, but against all SDA's now, and I guess the countless millions of Christians throughout history who have also believed much of what we do which you reject.
Good Im glad to have spoken against this wicked and false prophet! And to stand before the Lord as He says "well done my good and faithful servant"

I might as well start a thread titled, "I am a Christian ask me..." and then within the thread say "Let's keep it strictly to the Old Testament, I am not going to discuss the teachings of Christ". I love you guys, I mean no disrespect, but that is how I see this whole thing.
There is nothing anyone can do about the self imposed blinders you have put on. Both the old and new testaments are the truth. They work together. If what you believe makes them contradictory, then what you believe is wrong. What we believe is firmly established in both. There is nothing that can be done for those who will ignore testimony from either that does not fit what they wish to believe.

No, that is awesome. But why even consider yourself a Seventh Day Adventist then? The whole defining thing that makes an SDA an SDA is that they believe Ellen White was used as a vessel of the Holy Spirit to directly communicate the Word of God, a new Word of God, a new revelation to all us foolish people who have lost our way.
As already stated, ignorance is, as ignorance does. I've been at this for years. It's the same old thing over and over. Non SDA's bring up EGW as a diversionary tactic because they don't do very well with the bible alone. Therefore they bring in her writings to expand the field of attack through false accusations in order to change the subject they are not doing very well defending from scripture.

And if she didn't have a new Word of God or new revelation. Than why did her word need to be considered as equal to the scriptures. Why couldn't she just be a normal Christian who maybe studied the Bible and thought she might have something to share with others which they might have missed. There is no reason to call yourself a prophet, directly influenced by the Holy Spirit to communicate the Word of God if you don't have anything new to add

Christian Education (1893, 1894), page 120, paragraph 1
Chapter Title: The Value of Bible Study.
We should not allow any argument of man's to turn us away from a thorough investigation of Bible truth. The opinions and customs of men are not to be received as of divine authority. God has revealed in his word what is the whole duty of man, and we are not to be swayed from the great standard of righteousness. He sent his only begotten Son to be our example, and bade us to hear and to follow him. We must not be influenced from the truth as it is in Jesus, because great and professedly good men urge their ideas above the plain statements of the word of God.

Education (1903), page 17, paragraph 1
Chapter Title: Source and Aim of True Education
The Holy Scriptures are the perfect standard of truth, and as such should be given the highest place in education. To obtain an education worthy of the name, we must receive a knowledge of God, the Creator, and of Christ, the Redeemer, as they are revealed in the sacred word.

The Faith I Live By (1958), page 13, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: The Word and Works of God
In His Word, God has committed to men the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are to be accepted as an authoritative, infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the revealer of doctrines, and the test of experience.

Gospel Workers (1915), page 250, paragraph 4
Chapter Title: Helps in Gospel Work
The word of God is the standard of character. In giving us this word, God has put us in possession of every truth essential to salvation. Thousands have drawn water from these wells of life, yet there is no diminishing of the supply. Thousands have set the
251
Lord before them, and by beholding have become changed into the same image. But these searchers have not exhausted these grand and holy themes. Thousands more may engage in the work of searching out the mysteries of salvation.

In Heavenly Places (1967), page 133, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: The Great Standard of Right and Wrong
In the Word of God is contained everything essential to the perfecting of the man of God. It is like a treasure house, full of valuable and precious stores, but we do not appreciate its riches nor realize the necessity of equipping ourselves with the treasures of truth. We do not realize the great necessity of searching the Scriptures for ourselves. Many neglect the study of the Word of God in order to pursue some worldly interest or to indulge in some trifling pleasure. . . . Oh, we might better put off anything of an earthly character than the investigation of the Word of God, which is able to make us wise unto life eternal. "Given by inspiration of God," . . . the Book of books has the highest claims to our reverent attention. . . .

Mind, Character, and Personality Volume 1 (1977), page 323, paragraph 5
Chapter Title: Conscience
Take your conscience to the Word of God and see if your life and character are in accordance with the standard of righteousness which God has there revealed. You can then determine whether or not you have an intelligent faith and what manner of conscience is yours. The conscience of man cannot be trusted unless it is under the influence of divine grace. Satan takes advantage of an unenlightened conscience, and thereby leads men into all manner of delusions, because they have not made the Word of God their counselor. Many have invented

324

a gospel of their own in the same manner as they have substituted a law of their own for God's law.--RH, Sept 3, 1901.

Mind, Character, and Personality Volume 2 (1977), page 699, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: Pseudoscience[SEE CHAPTER 3, "DANGERS IN PSYCHOLOGY."]
That Which Contradicts God's Word Is Guesswork. --He who has a knowledge of God and His word has a settled faith in the divinity of the Holy Scriptures. He does not test the Bible by man's ideas of science. He brings these ideas to the test of the unerring standard. He knows that God's word is truth, and truth can never contradict itself; whatever in the teaching of so-called science contradicts the truth of God's revelation is mere human guesswork.--8T 325 (1904).

The Review and Herald, June 11, 1908, paragraph 2
Article Title: What the Word of God Is to UsMrs. E. G. White
The Bible is the great standard of right and wrong, clearly defining sin and holiness. Its living principles, running through our lives like threads of gold, are our only safeguard in trial and temptation.

On page 78 of the first SDA Church Manual one of the questions asked to prospective baptisimal candidates is: "Do you believe the Bible doctrine of 'spiritual gifts' in the church, and do you believe in the gift of the Spirit of prophecy which has been manifested in the remnant church through the ministry and writings of Mrs. Ellen G. White?" (1932)

"As God's messenger, Ellen White spoke with decision and authority. 'I speak that which I have seen, and which I know to be true.' Letter 4, 1896. 'I implore you [the church members] not to treat this matter with your criticisms and speculations but as the voice of God to you.'-Letter 36, 1890. The messages were not to be parried..." (Ellen G. White: The Human Interest Story, Arthur L. White)

"Ellen White's writings cannot be on the same level with the Bible's authority, even though her inspiration is qualitatively the same. ... As a postcannonical manifestation of the prophetic gift, then, Ellen White merits full obedience...the canon of Scripture is the highest authority and Mrs. White's postcannonical writings are a lesser authority, but the obedience both deserve is the same." (Jud Lake, Ellen White Under Fire, pp. 160-161)

Well that isn't true in my case at all. I'm surprised you do not understand what Mitspa and I have said during the last 24 hours. A SDA is one who follows the teachings of Ellen White. A Mormon follows the teachings of Joseph Smith. A Christian follows the teachings of Christ. A muslim follows the teachings of Muhammad.

Luke 6:39And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40"A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher."

That is the reason why it is so important to focus on Ellen White in this thread, indeed everything she said should be carefully weighed against Scripture. Word for word even.

Now I asked gotime where it is I should read the teachings of Ellen White. Because that is all I need to do in order to understand if she is from God or is of Satan. I have not gotten around to doing it yet, I have been asleep since I wrote that post.

But the point is this, in the search for truth we cannot have selective vision. It would be awesome if you guys posted the most difficult or most frequently misunderstood sayings of Ellen White and the other founders. And then explain how you have come to discover they align with the truth of the Word of God.

If you do this, you will either confirm that the founders were indeed great men and women of God who deserve to be followed and greatly increase my respect for the teachings of the SDA church. Or you will come to realize that you are not in fact followers of it's founders and continue to practice your Bible based beliefs under a different name/denomination

Look Lynx ...The strength of our faith is in the fact that Jesus Christ is absolutely who He claimed to be! This religion is based solely on a false teacher and false prophet named ellen g white. Its so clear and evident that she is false that they do not want anyone to know all the false doctrine and false prophecies she has taught. If you really want to understand the errors of their doctrine you must go to the source! Now you can do as you like, and as you already know, I will do what I believe I should do :)
I suppose you think you have gone to the source, is that it? Then I suppose you have read all the writings of EGW right, since you think she is the source? Tell me if her following words are lies please sir, since you are such an expert.

The Faith I Live By, page 108, paragraph 5
Chapter Title: God's Remedy For Sin
Salvation is God's free gift to the believer, given to him for Christ's sake alone. The troubled soul may find peace through faith in Christ, and his peace will be in proportion to his faith and trust. He cannot present his good works as a plea for the salvation of his soul.

God's Amazing Grace, page 331, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: What About Good Works?
Our acceptance with God is sure only through His beloved Son, and good works are but the result of the working of His sin-pardoning love. They are no credit to us, and we have nothing accorded to us for our good works by which we may claim a part in the salvation of our souls. Salvation is God's free gift to the believer, given to him for Christ's sake alone. The troubled soul may find peace through faith in Christ, and his peace will be in proportion to his faith and trust. He cannot present his good works as a plea for the salvation of his soul.

In Heavenly Places, page 154, paragraph 6
Chapter Title: The Impress of Heaven
The Son of God came down to earth that in Him men and women might have a representation of the perfect characters which alone God could accept. Through the grace of Christ every provision has been made for the salvation of the human family. It is possible for every transaction entered into by those who claim to be Christians to be as pure as were the deeds of Christ. And the soul who accepts the virtues of Christ's character and appropriates the merits of His life is as precious in the sight of God as was His own beloved Son.

The Publishing Ministry, page 277, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: Recruiting Literature Evangelists
God's Means of Exalting Man.--God has given man a part to act in accomplishing the salvation of his fellow men. He can work in connection with Christ by doing acts of mercy and beneficence. But he cannot redeem them, not being able to satisfy the claims of insulted justice. This the Son of God alone can do, by laying aside His honor and glory, clothing His divinity with humanity, and coming to earth to humiliate Himself and shed His blood in behalf of the human race.

Selected Messages Book 1, page 331, paragraph 1
Chapter Title: Come and Seek and Find[THISARTICLE APPEARED IN THE SIGNS OF THETIMES, DEC. 19, 1892.]
It is impossible for man to save himself. He may deceive himself in regard to this matter, but he cannot save himself. Christ's righteousness alone can avail for his salvation, and this is the gift of God. This is the wedding garment in which you may appear as a welcome guest at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Let faith take hold of Christ without delay, and you will be a new creature in Jesus, a light to the world.

Selected Messages Book 1, page 407, paragraph 1
Chapter Title: How to Meet a Controverted Pointof Doctrine[MORNING TALK ATBATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN, JAN. 29, 1890,WHICH WAS PRINTED IN THE REVIEW ANDHERALD OF FEB. 18, 1890.]
Christ had given precious gems of truth, but men had bound them up in the rubbish of superstition and error. He had imparted to them the words of life, but they did not live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. He saw that the world could not find the word of God, for it was hidden by the traditions of men. He came to place before the world the relative importance of heaven and earth, and put truth in its own place. Jesus alone could reveal the truth which it was necessary men should know in order that they might obtain salvation. He only could place it in the framework of truth, and it was His work to free it from error and to set it before men in its heavenly light.

Selected Messages Book 3, page 199, paragraph 3
Chapter Title: Emphasis on Salvation Theme
Faith and Good Works--1895.--Our acceptance with God is sure only through His beloved Son, and good works are but the result of the working of His sin-pardoning love.

S.D.A. Bible Commentary Vol. 6, page 1072, paragraph 3
Chapter Title: Romans
The salvation that Christ made such a sacrifice to gain for man, is that which is alone of value, that which saves from sin--the cause of all the misery and woe in our world. Mercy extended to the sinner is constantly drawing him to Jesus. If he responds, coming in penitence with confession, in faith laying hold of the hope set before him in the gospel, God will not despise the broken and contrite heart. Thus the law of God is not weakened, but the power of sin is broken, and the scepter of mercy is extended to the penitent sinner (Letter 1f, 1890).

The Spirit of Prophecy Volume Two, page 204, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: Chapter XVI. - Sermon on the Mount.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven." The poor in spirit are those who claim no personal merit, and boast of no virtue in themselves. Realizing their utter helplessness, and deeply convicted of sin, they put no faith in mere outward ceremonies, but cast themselves upon Jesus who is all-righteous
205

and all-compassionate. The Christian can only rise through humility. The proud heart strives in vain to earn salvation by good works; for though one cannot be saved without good works, yet these alone will not suffice to win eternal life. After he has done all he can, Christ must impute to him his own righteousness.

That I May Know Him, page 229, paragraph 2
Chapter Title: The Faith God Accepts
There are many in the Christian world who claim that all that is necessary to salvation is to have faith; works are nothing, faith is the only essential. But God's Word tells us that faith without works is dead, being alone. . . . Faith and works go hand in hand. . . . Works will never save us; it is the merit of Christ that will avail in our behalf. Through faith in Him, Christ will make all our imperfect efforts acceptable to God. The faith we are required to have is not a do-nothing faith; saving faith is that which works by love and purifies the soul. He who will lift up holy hands to God without wrath and doubting will walk intelligently in the way of God's commandments.

This Day With God, page 18, paragraph 5
Chapter Title: Antidote for Apathy
A religious experience that is not founded in Christ and Him alone is worthless. . . . Men of intellectual powers need a clear, scriptural presentation of the plan of salvation. Let the truth in its simplicity and power be presented to them. If this does not hold the attention and arouse the interest, they never can be interested in heavenly and divine things. In every congregation there are souls who are unsatisfied. Every Sabbath they want to hear something definite explaining how they can be saved, how they are to become Christians. The important thing for them to know is, How can a sinner be justified before God?--Letter 23a, Jan. 10, 1893, to Brother E. H. Gates.

Bible Training School, August 1, 1903, paragraph 1
Article Title: Character BuildingMrs. E. G. White
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." How is this? Fear lest you shall weave into the fabric your own threads of selfishness. Fear lest you shall err in choosing the timber for your character building. God alone can supply the solid timber. Well may mortal man be afraid of weaving into his character the miserable threads of his own inherited and cultivated tendencies. Well may he tremble lest he shall not submit all things to Him who is working in his behalf, that God's will shall be done in him. God welcomes all who come to Him just as they are, not building themselves up in self-righteousness, not seeking to justify self, not claiming merit for that which they call a good action, not priding themselves on their knowledge of what constitutes righteousness. Put on the wedding garment which Christ has prepared, and drop the old citizen's dress: then you can sit down in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.

The Review and Herald, October 7, 1909, paragraph 11
Article Title: Sanctified ServiceMrs. E. G. White
All the congregations in our land need to learn more of Christ and him crucified. A religious experience that is not founded on Christ, and him alone, is worthless. Let the truth, in its simplicity and power, be presented to them. This will hold the attention and arouse the interest, and lead the mind to heavenly and divine things. In every congregation there are souls who are unsatisfied. Every Sabbath they should hear something that will help them in the way of salvation and teach them how to become better Christians. The important thing for them to know is, How can a sinner be justified before God? Let the way of salvation be presented before them in simplicity. Lift up Jesus as the sinner's only hope.

The Signs of the Times , April 18, 1900, paragraph 6
Article Title: Christ and Nicodemus.
The brazen serpent was uplifted in the wilderness that those who looked in faith might be made whole. In like manner God sends a restoring, healing message to men, calling upon them to look away from man and earthly things, and place their trust in God. That brazen serpent uplifted in the wilderness was a symbol of Christ. The faith which the believing Israelites exercised as they looked at it, we must exercise as we look to Christ. With the same simplicity sinners must receive the Saviour; for He alone can save from sin. He is our ransom. Whoever rejects the salvation He proffers is lost to God and heaven.

Manuscript Releases Volume Three [Nos. 162-209] (1990), page 420, paragraph 1
Chapter Title: MR No. 207 - Manuscript Materials Requested for Use in Books and Articles
There is not a point that needs to be dwelt upon more earnestly, repeated more frequently, or established more firmly in the minds of all, than the impossibility of fallen man meriting anything by his own best good works. Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone. . . .
Christ has given me words to speak: "Ye must be born again, else you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Therefore all who have the right understanding of this matter should put away their controversial spirit and seek the Lord with all their hearts. Then they will find Christ and can give distinctive character to their religious experience. They should keep this matter--the simplicity of true godliness--distinctly before the people in every discourse. This will come home to the heart of every hungering, thirsting soul who is longing to come into the assurance of hope and faith and perfect trust in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is kind of pointless to discuss what SDA members believe because SDA congregations actually vary a lot in their beliefs. It is also pointless to discuss Ellen G White - anybody can open her materials and see for themselves whether she was a false prophet or not. See what I mean?
It is not pointless to point out the lies of those working deception. If EGW is involved in deception, then it is not pointless to reveal the truth regarding the same. If she was a prophetess and those falsely accusing her are lying about her, then it is of course not pointless to reveal their deception in doing so. Pointing out deception, is not pointless. It is part of defending the truth.

Okay if it not pointless what has been achieved on this thread except accusation which you have just railed my way, btw? You are no better at all than those who say she is a false prophet. I believe she is a false prophet but I at least said to everyone, look into her writings and read it for yourself.

So does a Prophetess have to be right in their Prophecy just like a Prophet or do they get a pass because they are a girl?

Re 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
If they are speaking a revelation from God, they most certainly should be right. Apart from this, though they should certainly be knowledgeable, they are fallible sinful human beings.

Ellen G white teaches satan is at the throne of God!

"Satan appeared to be by the throne, trying to carry on the work of God. I saw them (Christians) look up to the throne, and pray, 'Father, give us Thy Spirit.' Satan would then breathe upon them an unholy influence ..." (Early Writings, p. 56).

Do any of you guys who think ellen g is a prophetess ..want to defend this statement by her?
I already have. Just still working through the many posts I've not read yet.
