I understand that. That is what the translations say. But the Greek says God was the Word.
What's the difference? God was the Word, the Word was God? So what?
How does that translate into the WORD not being God in your mind?

The WORD which took on flesh to walk this world, the WORD known as Jesus.

It says the word was with God. That is not the same. What do you think?

You say yes but you mean no.
I am agreeing that you have it right according to the translation. But see here to get it more right.

John 1:1 TR - Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and God was the word.

How can I say, “Your’e wasting your time with this one,” without saying-“Your’e wasting your time.”

What I understand does not help you in these regards, Jesus is God.
John 5:18 NASB20 - For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
