does Jesus seem to be telling us it's possible or it's not possible that His own sheep will be deceived? do we know His voice? will we follow another?
In the New Testament it is spiritual so it is a spiritual rest.
That means every day would be the sabbath.
Isaiah 28:10-12 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
In the New Testament it is spiritual rest by the Holy Spirit which Jesus said He would give us rest.
Colossians 2:14-17 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Jesus took away the physical ordinances which includes the sabbath days for they were contrary to us which means they have no bearing on salvation.
The physical sabbath was for the Old Testament a physical covenant with physical blessings on this earth and in the New Testament it is a spiritual sabbath.
John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Luke 17:20-21 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Jesus went away to prepare a place for the saints that is spiritual and the saints belong to that new earth which when a person has the Spirit the kingdom of God is within them.
The saints celebrate the new earth that Jesus went away to prepare for the saints.
It is a spiritual sabbath in the New Testament.

Back in the 80s Thatcher [who many Americans have on a pedestal] devised legislation whereby Sunday would become just another working day. Productivity would be increased by a 7th.
She had an overwhelming majority in the Commons, the bill went through it's various stages, Labour were not that interested in opposing it.
This was one of the most assured pieces of legislation in British political history.
But many christians went to prayer with the slogan "keep Sunday special." The day before the vote many prayed all night. And do you know what? The "ayes" lost and the "noes" won and by a comfortable margin. Everyone was shocked, MPs scratched their heads.

Now I don't believe Sunday is the Sabbath, nor do I really believe in the Sabbath, but I do think it is a good idea to have one day a week when we can all meet together and offer praise to the Lord and share His word and fellowship. If Jesus only saves one from the punishment for sin and not your bondage to it, such a one will go to hell. "Thou shalt call His name 'Jesus' for He will save His people FROM their sins" not "IN their sins".

Well known by who? Those like you who've fallen into the Left Ditch of License? It's no secret Christianity has been overrun with adult children who whine and cry about how hard it is to be faithful to Jesus, though Scripture says doing so is "not grievous", so their opinion of the Peshitta would only shock us if they weren't such.
