the model God laid out was work six days and rest one.

i do.

work six days and rest on the Lord's Day, the day, the day Jesus rose, on sunday.

not on the Sabbath, He rose on sun. morning.
But that is the tradition of the catholic church and not the day that God sanctified.

This is what the Catholic church states...
“Sunday is our mark of authority …. The church is above the Bible, and this transference of sabbath observance is proof of that fact” (The Catholic Record of London, Ontario, Sept. 1, 1923).

Sundown to sundown was the Lord's idea. Works for me.

Here is an explanation from ....The Catechism of the Catholic Church Section 2 Article 3 (1994):

"Sunday – fulfillment of the Sabbath. Sunday is expressly distinguished from the Sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the Sabbath...
The Sabbath, which represented the completion of the first creation, has been replaced by Sunday which recalls the new creation, has been replaced by Sunday which recalls the new creation inaugurated by the Resurrection of Christ...
In respecting religious liberty and the common good of all, Christians should seek recognition of Sundays and the Church’s holy days as legal holidays."

And here are various Catholic sources claiming the change was the doing of the Roman Catholic Church:
Cardinal James Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (Ayers Publishing, 1978): 108:

"But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify."

The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1957): 50:
"
Q. Which is the Sabbath day?
A. Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Q. Why Do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."

Chancellor Albert Smith for Cardinal of Baltimore Archdiocese, letter dated February 10, 1920:
"If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day by God is Saturday. In keeping the Sunday, they are following a law of the Catholic Church.

Stephen Keenan, Catholic—Doctrinal Catechism 3rd Edition: 174:
"Question: Have you any other way of proving the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?
Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her, she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the 1st day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the 7th day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."

let's go back a few thousand years.

around 112 a d, the roman gov. pliny the younger stated that Christians meet " on a certain day before dawn to sing hymns as Christ as God"

so, what happened before dawn on a certain day???

If you are not measured by God's law...then what standard are you following to be judged by?
i am measured by Gods law, and seen as perfect if i'm in Christ. Christ is measured by the law and shown to be perfect. If i am covered by the righteousness of Christ i am seen as perfect.
I still follow the law because i love Jesus and want to follow His standard of rightousness.

Why just keep 9 when there are 10? If the law is done away with and Jesus is the reason for your disobedience, you are heading down the broad path that leads to destruction. Oh you vipers and rebellious ones. You are blind and deaf. May you be healed quickly before it is to late.
Just following what the Bible says. I guess the issue is not disobedience, but rather different perspectives on what the Bible says. If God wants to punish me for not understanding His book the same way you do then I guess I’m doomed.

I understand, I have the same problem on how to keep the sabbath, but i do honor the sabbath as much as i can (saturday not sunday), i do rest, and read the bible on that day as much as possible. I am not Jewish so I do not follow all their rules, I keep it simple, rest, no work (unless in an emergency) and meditate/pray! the work Jesus did on the sabbath was very holy, it does not count as ""work"" the pharisees blamed Jesus but they were so wrong to do so. GOD knows mens hearts all we need to do is do his will and follow the moral law, the 10 commandments.

Blessings be upon you brother.

It’s about as clear as mud to me about the sabbath. Kinda seems like the sabbath is a day to do good things. It doesn’t clearly define what work is bad.

It’s hot and humid here on Saturday. If my fan breaks I would be extremely uncomfortable if I were to cease from all work. I would possibly get heat exhaustion as well. I don’t believe God wants me to suffer on the sabbath so I need to work to fix it or replace it. That’s good right?

Seems like what rest and work is on the sabbath depends on the situation.

there are two laws (which you will not see)

Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Laws were given after sin happened, Laws that do not define sin but help to prevent and help to understand the solution for sin.
"circumcission is a good exanmple".
The Jews were under these laws for many years as a nation and they were to be practised until the seed should come (Jesus).

You put thre moral laws as part of the cerimonial laws, this results in confussion about which laws remain and which laws are abolished at the cross and which laws are a curse.

Do you steal, or murder, or transgress any of the other 9 commandments?
For the same moral motive that i choose not to Steal, i choose to remmember the Sabbath. Am i cursed?
I don't need you to tell me what I allegedly "will not see" or what I've allegedly "put...as a part of" something else.

You're dead wrong in your assessment of me, and I'm already on the record here for saying and believing the following:

https://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/contradiction-or-harmony.206017/#post-4865924

I wasn't questioning your motives, but merely making a suggestion.

Personally, I believe that the epistle to the Hebrews is a major key towards understanding this whole "law vs. grace" thing.

In that epistle, we see Christ FULFILLING a lot of Old Testament types as the true antitype.

For example, he is the true sacrifice that all of the Old Testament sacrifices pointed to, and, therefore, they no longer need to be offered.

However, when it comes to certain commandments themselves, what the prophet Jeremiah wrote in Jeremiah 31:31-34 is twice quoted.

I'm referring, of course, to the following:

Hebrews chapter 8

[7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
[8] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
[9] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
[11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
[12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
[13] In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

This "new covenant" which is replacing "that which decays and waxes old" and "is ready to vanish away" does NOT remove certain of God's commandments. Instead, it transfers them from tables of stone to our minds and our hearts.

Again:

Hebrews chapter 10

[15] Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
[16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
[17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

This transference of God's commandments from outward tables of stone to fleshy tables of our hearts perfectly coincides with what Paul said to the saints at Corinth.

II Corinthians chapter 3

[2] Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
[3] Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Furthermore, if perfectly coincides with what Jesus went on to say in Matthew chapter 5.

We read:

Matthew chapter 5

[17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
[19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
[20] For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[21] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
[22] But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
[23] Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
[24] Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
[25] Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
[26] Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
[27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
[29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
[30] And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Here, Jesus twice contrasts what "was said by them of old time" or the law of Moses with "but I say unto you" or how it will be under the New Covenant. Under the Old Covenant, someone had to literally murder or commit adultery in order to be guilty. Under the New Covenant, it's a matter of the heart, and not just a matter of an outward act or deed.

As Christians, are we free to steal?

Are we free to covet?

Are we free to bow to idols?

There are plenty of warnings against the same throughout the New Testament.

Similarly, there are several places in the New Testament (including what I previously quoted from Ephesians chapter 6) where an Old Testament commandment is presented to New Testament saints as doctrine.

With such being the case, I don't see any disharmony whatsoever between what both Jesus and Paul actually said.

Anyhow, unlike the writers of the New Testament, our resident Judaizer is promoting outward circumcision and observance of the Old Testament feasts.

Of course, you have no reproof for THAT ACTUAL ERROR, right?!?

Right.

Well, the Bible does:

"For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love." (Galatians 5:6)

Colossians chapter 2

[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
[17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

If it is urgent.....as in ...if the donkey is in the mire...get him out...then it is justified.

Ok I will use your cultic version(not serious)

20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

It is clear to any honest person, that Paul is not under the law as a Christian.

You need to speak softly to yourself because you are not hearing the truth.

The fact that we can not be saved by the law ment Jesus had to die.
If we could have been saved by keeping the law then Jesus died for no reason.

This tells me that the law is set fast and unchanging.
If God could have changed the law and made it void even for a short time then we would not need a saviour and we would be free from sin. But because the moral law is unchangable ment that we needed salvation from sin.

Sin is the transgression of the law.

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Not true...Jesus sacrificed on the cross to provide ..... grace...for forgiveness...because we are not perfect.

If you are not measured by God's law...then what standard are you following to be judged by?
Jesus' death washed away our sins but it is the Holy Spirit that perfects us by filling our hearts with the divine love that is necessary for us to obey Christ's commandments to love God first and everyone else second. I hope that you read my previous post.

You said it to plain and without biblical authority.
Who would expect God to issue commandments and then issue a dictum not requiring compliance?
I don't think you meant to say that...?
We walk by the Spirit, not the letter. The whole of the New Testament teaches us how to walk by the Spirit, not the letter. If you want to walk by the letter don't call yourself a Christian. Convert to Judaism then you can walk by the letter to your heart's content.
