is this the answer?

As Josephs adopted son, is it through this line in which he receives the throne? As an adopted son is a legal heir?
It was customary in those days for a family's lineage to be passed on to the daughter’s spouse if there were no sons born to the family. As a result, Joseph assumed Mary's genealogy. The seed, or lineage, of the family would then continue through Joseph. We can see that there are no "begats" in this family tree. This is because this is Joseph's lawful wife's lineage—It is Mary’s lineage.

Mary's father was from the tribe of Judah, but he married a Levite; therefore, Mary was a mix of the Levite and Judah tribes. As a result, Jesus belonged to both the King and the Levitical priestly lines of Aaron (after the order of Melchizedek).

This has been a great thread to consider. I hope that you haven't been
discouraged.

It's a pleasure to see people freely expressing their opinions-- whether they
agree or disagree --without being suppressed by truth police and/or accused of
propagating misinformation.

In our world, one man's terrorist is another man's patriot, and one man's
facts are another man's feelings. If you're a blue then the reds are evil, and
if you're a red, then the blues are evil. Ms. Hillary Clinton has labeled some
of us "deplorable" while not even considering that she herself may be seen
the same way by opponents. It's all in how folks look at things.

Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, Article 19

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right
includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive
and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of
frontiers.

What does that article say about the cancel culture? Well it tells me that
they are no better human beings than North Korea's Kim Jong-Un and
China's Xi Jinping.
