Hey Everyone,

I was in Target last week, and it reminded me that I've always meant to look up some information about Bulls Eye, the Target Mascot Dog. Since I didn't grow up with dogs (unless you count the ones that tried to bite at me on my paper route) and don't know many of the breeds, I always thought Bulls Eye was cute, but didn't know anything about him.

Now I can say upfront that I'm not very fond of the idea of anyone, let alone a huge corporation, putting red paint on a poor dog for the sake of brand recognition.

But, as the dog lovers in this thread will already know, I found out that Bulls Eye is an English Bull Terrier.

Even someone as cold-hearted as me has to admit these dogs are downright adorable. And I fell in love with one family's story about how their English bull terrier, despite having no training as a therapy dog, always senses when their young daughter is anxious and sort of plops himself over her, kind of like a weighted blanket -- and this always calms her down. 💘

Several sources I read or listened to described bull terriers as: "Stubborn, but trainable with ample amounts of attention, praise, encouragement, and treats."

Now -- I'm NOT saying I'm stubborn :ROFL: (just don't ask my parents!!) -- but I'm starting to think that these little bull terriers just might be my spirit animal, or at least, something very close to my personality -- in 4-legged form. :D

At least... I'm GUESSING that I might possibly be trainable (and perhaps would become even halfway agreeable) if only given enough attention, praise, encouragement... and did I mention, TREATS. :cool: It's just that I'm going to need enough people to actually try this in order to REALLY find out. :cool: (This is actually a REAL joke within my family, as we have a family dog of a different breed that I always say is the 4-footed grandchild -- and I think it's dangerously close to replacing me.) :oops:

How about YOU?

* Which animal(s) represent you in another form?

* What about them is so like you?

* Do you or anyone close to you have these animals as pets?

* Are there other animals that always make you think of someone you're close to? Why?

For myself, I don't foresee having any pets in the future (due to allergies and various living situations,) but I have actually been praying that I might meet a nice neighbor -- with a friendly little bull terrier for which I could bring toys and treats. :)

How about you?

I'd like to say I'm cool like an elk or strong like a bear and choose something to represent me that is impressive in an obvious way but I am probably closer to something like a capybara....

What qualities of the capybara remind you of yourself?

(I confess I don't know much about them, so this is a bonus chance for me to learn about both the people posting and the animals they're posting about!) :D

I hear they are friendly and approachable.

That being said, I'm changing my answer to hippo.

Because I have a large mouth.

Eeyore is my spirit animal.

The many faces of Lynx:

Hate to burst your bubble but , English bull terriers have a bit of a bad reputation in the UK . They r one of the original dangerous dogs before dangerous dogs were invented . Personally , I like them but , not the kind of dog that u should just trust immediately , best to get to know them and let them get to know u before u start kissing it's face 😜 .

There were many mentions in the things I read and listened to about the history of these dogs, and that their ancestry was originally bred for fighting.

The owners in the videos also said that when they are around strangers, people will shout, "Get your dangerous dog away from me!"

When I was around 13, I had a paper route (job delivering newspapers) with tons of people who seemed to find it amusing to let their dogs chase, bark at, or act (what I found to be) aggressively towards a small girl. I was terrified.

But every dog owner insisted their dog was the sweetest, most gentle and wonderful dog on earth, and was "only playing."

Sure. But I wasn't taking any chances. I like my limbs and planned on keeping all of them. I also had a neighbor with a pit bull -- the people weren't friendly at all (I think drugs were involved,) and I sure wasn't going to get anywhere near their dog.

There are reasons why I don't have pets of my own, and don't plan on having them.

I much prefer to visit friends and their pets (who understand my fears and cautions around animals,) and I'm happy with just that.

I'm not a pet person, but I greatly love outside critters. I'm very fascinated by spiders. Since they fascinate me so much, that must be my spirit animal. The female orb spiders create such incredible webs. The females seem to be the most impressive of the species...not to mention formidable :D

Pets r lovely but they do have their drawbacks , hairs everywhere , waking u up at all hours because they want to play , money needs to b spent very regularly and u can't leave them alone for too long , hmmmmm , sounds just like my hubby 😜 . Husbands and pets , very nice but , can b hard work 😆😆😆

Most people I know who have indoor pets spend a fortune on them. Many I know have a heart for the literal underdogs that need surgeries, extra medical care, special food, frequent vet appointments, etc. I've had many people tell me they spend almost as much on their pets as they do on a child.

I've also seen situations in which people pet-sitted for others and the pets became sick (leaving messes everywhere on the sitter's floors and furniture.) I know this is part of the risk, but I would be literally pet-rified of the animal I was watching passing away, or needing some medical emergency I would have to decide on because I couldn't contact the owners on time.

I love what pets can do for people, but my only pets are stuffed :) and I truly think that for my own life situations, it's the best choice.

This is why I always pray I'll meet nice neighbors or church folks who have nice pets I could visit, because I actually love looking at the pet sections and see all kinds of toys and treats I would be happy to shower on someone's friendly (and SAFE) kitty or puppy. 💗

I used to take those 'fun quizzes' to find out stuff like where I'd be from if I lived in Middle Earth (Rivendale), and the latest one, those it wasn't a quizz as much as it was just an fun article, "What type of cat are you according to your birth month," showed that I am a Bombay cat, because they are the most spiritual among the rest. At first, I was like, "Of course, I would land on the black cat, the other almost everyone else would avoid like the plague but then I was like, "Well, ok, I guess if anybody is okay with being misunderstood, it's me."

If I could have cats (another reason I can't have pets is because I'm allergic -- I would need meds, likely shots, which I don't want,) BUT, in my fantasy life (maybe in heaven?), I always thought it would be cool to have one white cat and one black cat.

I'd have a ball trying to think of names for them:

* Yin and Yang

* Salt and Pepper

* Cloud and Midnight

* Cotton and Coal

* Checker and Board

* News and Paper

* Domi and Noes

* Piano and Keys

* Bar and Codes

The possibilities are endless! :D

In color theory, adding white to a color is makes it a hue and adding black makes it a tint. However, think this might be confusing if the white cat is a female.:LOL:

Considering what white and black piano keys are, try sharp and flat.

Okay, seriously...

I think lynx is my spirit animal. I'm not a helpless house cat - I do have claws and I know how to use them if I have to - but neither am I a dangerous tiger. I'm not the lion in charge. I'd rather take a nap in a tree and occasionally peer over the edge of my perch and make a catty comment about what everybody else is doing.

Lynx as a cub,
except he still looks like this.
