All scripture, ALL LANGUAGE, requires at least a modicum of interpretation.
1.) All propositions are created with syntax and semantics and placed within a grammatical structure we must be able to understand.
2.) Anything translated can be translated slightly different ways, or just translated poorly. So that's a consideration.
3.) Most written works are intrinsically effected by time, place, audience, authorial intent, and literary genre.
4.) Most literary passages are intrinsically effected by the context of the surrounding passages placed both before and after.

Conclusion:
A.) The good news is that we sort through MOST of this INTUITIVELY... without really thinking. Easy peasy.
B.) The bad news is that some Bible passages really are more difficult than others.

God Bless.
.
And sometimes we need to be careful to not just choose the translation we want to be the correct one.

(No this is not a KJV only screed...)

I have heard some really bizarre sermons from some preachers who latched on to an obscure translation of a word and built a whole sermon out of it. A lot of Greek and Hebrew words have different meanings depending on context. Well, so do a lot of English words...

Sometimes a preacher will look up the original Greek or Hebrew word, find one obscure definition for that word, and go completely off in left field with it. If you have ever heard a sermon preached with a basis of, "The original Greek word is (a word in a different language) which means _________" you should probably check that verse, and maybe the verses around it to get context, and see if it really means what he is preaching about.

Gift of encouragement; counsel and advocacy, augmented with emotional intelligence.

No walking on air, over the moon, in seventh heaven, on cloud nine kinda deal, but setting afloat someone's hope far outlasts any sorta fleeting euphoria, come what may.

One of my my gifts/callings is a heart for the homeless. I admit some of them look out-of-it but 90% of the ones I've encountered are very very sweet people. Sadly I've only ever seen a few people offer help to a homeless person over the years. I followed a person with raggedy clothes carrying a blanket and thought it was a young man but it was a young cute girl. I felt so sad but when I pray with the ones I meet, I believe God is listening and miracles of help can happen. Sometimes I think they are wondering if I'm ok, lol. Also, finding the relevance of knowing Scripture to offer someone to enlighten, encourage and/or lead to salvation is what I'm becoming more used to doing now too.

Peace, be still; Lay all your worries down. Be still, oh my soul, For our God, is in control. And if God is for us, Then whom shall I fear? And our God is for us;So lay down, be still. He is God. Hallelujah, our God has overcome. Hallelujah, our Lord, Jesus Christ, has won.

So, I have been listening to a lot of Steve Harvey lately, and I think he brings out a good point.

Everyone has a gift. Your gift is the best thing you can do, with the least amount of effort. No, I'm talking about watching t.v., I'm talking about what God gave you as a talent.

Remember the parable about the talents in Mathew?

15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.

Some of you have five talents, some have two talents, and others just one talent. So, I would encourage everyone to find their talent and use them to honor God.

out of those, my talents are: employee relations, gardening, leadership, teamwork, troubleshooting, empathy, problem solving, public relations, risk assessment, self defense, counseling, drumming (my top talent), Bible verse memorization & antique & coin dealing. i, naturally am a peacemaker also.

My gift has always been when my head hits the pillow I fall asleep straight away. It is the envy of my mother and sister's and all the females in my family who lay in bed for hours before they fall asleep. It made my ex so mad that I could fall asleep right away that she would kick me or elbow me to just wake me up because I could fall asleep no problem..........LOL

It’s something Im trying to figure out, and I think it could benefit some, if they stopped taking their gifts for granted.
Hi Kinda! Do you mean that you are trying to figure out what your own gifts are? My group did a study on gifts a few summers ago, it was really interesting. I agree that it's a very important topic!

Would like to think I excel at adapting to the path of the lowly (Proverbs 27:2). But to give to them that ask, , helps, ''so that you come short in no gift'' (1Cor 1:7).

Oh yeah... I never did actually answer this thread's question seriously!

Heh heh... Um... Sometimes I get distracted by the smart alec answer and forget to give the real answer later.

My gift is being a nerd. I am good at analyzing what people want to get done and finding a technological solution that fits what they need and what they are most comfortable using.

I am also good at analyzing workflows with repetitive tasks and optimizing the ever living crap out of them to make them as fast and efficient as possible. I am a factory manager's best friend. If he will let me place this tool exactly here, and these parts right there, and use a flat blade screwdriver to pop this part into place faster, I can sure crank out the parts.

hopefully, you got the general idea of what I’m trying to say. Since it was a parable, I thought I could use it in an a slightly abstract way.

It’s something Im trying to figure out, and I think it could benefit some, if they stopped taking their gifts for granted.

I think the moral of the story is don’t waste your resources, that God has given you.

If people are hung up on literal translations, they could missing a ton of meaning. That’s just my take.

People are allowed to interpret scripture in their own conscience, right or wrong.

Anyways, I think it’s a great subject matter, despite some of my grammar, and my insights on scripture.

I agree....
