It seems you can't get that great chewy cheese down here that they put on poutines. :( I used to just buy a bag of the stuff sometimes and eat it. cheese curds.

There are so many things that I can't get down here and hubby will ask me what am I talking about. Family and friends visit and bring what we can't get here. My sister loves Smarties so people always bring those as a gift to her when they come.

Who are the anti-Trump trolls a trolling? Being anti-Trump does not necessairly make you a troll. I'm not anti-Trump, but I do not give him carte blanche either; I am Canadian so wondering where you think I might fit in? hmmm?

But maybe try to understand this thread is not about Trump. It is about Canada. Did you miss that?

I'm worried for family and friends and what this means for them.

OK, but we have processed American cheese individually wrapped in plastic giving it that special plastic flavor.

I so agree. My relatives are all still in PQ. Quebec, once such a Catholic province, did an about turn and became very secular. That is, Catholics stopped letting the pope and the priests run their lives.

Try putting some on a half bagel and heating for the cheese to melt abit. You have to be careful cause it actually disappears the more you heat it.

OK I'm a little spoiled cause people eat mostly real cheese where I'm from.

I will sometimes order authentic Cdn goodies from Amazon but you gotta watch the shipping fees. MackIntoshs toffee....you have to slam it down on a hard surface to break it up.

And Laura Secord mint chocolates.

My dad was a cheese aficionado, so I grew up with real cheese and spent a year in England, so I am fully aware at how ridiculous that plastic stuff is.

Ahh, the toffee is my fathers favorite, he even uses the accent. lol I had an uncle that worked in a chocolate factory. So we were always good for chocolates for Christmas.

The K deluxe slices are not quite so bad. I have cheese almost every day.

There are also the individual candy pieces for toffee but I don't think they are quite so good. My dad used to buy me that toffee when I was a kid and I would stuff big ole pieces into my mouth. Wonder I didn't need a Heimlich intervention. Choc is always welcome. When I was going to college I was working at a dept. store in downtown Mtl. during Christmas and summer. One summer they put me in the candy dept. ... candy from all those European countries plus my employee discout. I became a fan of some really expensive stuff that I would not have normally bought.

You know, to test the sense of humor of the Canadians up there after we saw some black squirrels, i told my cousin and her friend "our squirrels in America are armed with guns". They froze and didn't know what to make of that.
And that's how you break the ice!
.

Darn right!
