Do you also worry about this?
What if while we're here we look forward to heaven and everything being perfect and then once we get there
we notice that we cannot really enjoy it or grasp it? Or what if after a while we forget how much this world sucked
and thus our gratefulness declines?
This is scary.
I also cannot imagine being totally happy and without any care, can you? To me this is unreal. I just can't imagine it.
Or what if it's like looking forward to a special event like Christmas and then when you finally get there you don't really
"feel" it?
Or what if heaven is so perfect that it becomes boring, like playing a game and you have all the cheat codes and thus it
loses its attraction? That would also be scary.
I understand your worries—they are very human thoughts. The truth is, we don’t fully know exactly what our experience in heaven will be like. But the Bible gives us glimpses, and they are meant to inspire awe, not fear.
What we do know is that in the new Jerusalem, we will be filled with the glory of God. Everything there will be completely alive with His presence, and He Himself will be the light—so there will be no need for the sun or moon (Revelation 21:23).
The city is described as enormous, too vast to measure, with streets of gold and gates made of precious gems (Revelation 21:16–21). Its beauty is beyond anything we have ever seen, and it is not just decoration—its glory is the presence of God Himself. Imagine being surrounded completely by goodness, love, and holiness, where every desire is fulfilled in the best way because it flows from Him. Can anyone ever grow bored of being with God? His glory is infinite; it will never run out or lose its wonder.
We may worry that we won’t “feel” it like we expect, or that it might become boring—but our enjoyment won’t come from the same fleeting thrills we have here. It will come from being fully alive in God’s presence, sharing in His joy and perfection. That kind of joy doesn’t fade, and it is far beyond anything we can imagine now.
So even though we cannot picture it perfectly, we can trust that being filled with the glory of God in the new Jerusalem will be more wonderful than anything we have ever experienced. There is no boredom in the eternal joy that comes from Him, because it is alive, infinite, and completely satisfying.
here is a tiny glimpse but it will be so much more than this;
