It can be easy to not realize how much you post and not realize how quickly things can be moved back. But, yes, it does pay to look a little further still.
But in this case it was still on page one. Perhaps not getting a confirmation he didn't check? Do people get notified when threads are approved? It's been a long time since I've created one, but I don't remember getting alerted.

Until a thread is approved it will not show in the forums to any user (other that Admin) including the OP. Depending on different circumstances a new thread (or profile for that matter) may be approved within seconds or it can take 12 hours or more at times.
Other than the site owner, those of us who screen content are volunteers and log in as we have time. Most days I will clear the approval queue first thing in the morning (US Mountain Time) and then again in the evening (typically I check it periodically through the evening) when I get home from work but that is not a guarantee since I do have obligations to my church community several evenings through the month.
