I support capitalism and the free market, not government coercion.
Free market = Free trade
That means a level playing field with either no tariffs or reciprocal tariffs that balance fair trade.
You're the econ major, right?

Particularly with the Auto industry, this has all been about government coercion. For the past 60 years or so......from the left and atheists.I support capitalism and the free market, not government coercion.

Are you having some ego troubles?
Actually "protectionism" is the the opposite of free trade.
Here is some help..
An important economic principle is called the division of labor. It states that economic efficiency, and therefore growth, is enhanced by everyone doing what he does best.

Canada has better, cleaner milk we do it better.![]()
So why not free trade? If Canada can produce the best milk and convince me of it....I will pay their going rate.
Canada can't promote and therefore command their asking price? Why add government coercion?
I honestly could not tell you.Do you have Canadian milk in the USA?
I really do not know I have never looked for it.

Once we are weaned off our mother's milk, we no longer need to consume milk.So why not free trade? If Canada can produce the best milk and convince me of it....I will pay their going rate.

Well Trump is right. Canada puts a cap on our exports. If we go over the cap (in Ag related products) Canada charges 150 to 350 % tariffs. Here I looked it up.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture notes on its website that under the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, which preceded Trump’s USMCA, “almost all” US agricultural exports to Canada, and vice versa, faced no tariffs or quotas. The USMCA kept in place that zero-tariff, zero-quota trade while securing greater US access to the smattering of Canadian markets that are governed by supply management.
And while Trump claimed in February that “they don’t take our agricultural product for the most part,”
Canada is actually the world’s second-largest export market for U.S. agricultural products as a whole, according to the US Department of Agriculture, purchasing about US$28.4 billion worth in 2024.

And only Canadian processors can receive our exports.
American companies have done many studies that say Canadians want more of Americas exports, but their cap stops it.
If Canadians do produce the best milk, why stop Americas exports to Canada? And Canada can export their excellent milk to us.
Free trade.
@HeIsHereOkay.

Don't get me wrong. I grew up on the farm and then went into construction and built milking parlors and hog confinements. We could also push each other to excel at quality while pushing quantity to the max.
We Americans have a tendency to go from quality to quantity. And if we had true free trade we would have an excellent balance.
It's a biblical issue. America is still the nation that can freely and unashamedly witness the Lord Jesus Christ in this world. I watched Pastors in Canada get dragged off of their front steps at the truckers protest.A trade deficit is not a bad thing for your country, you need to remember you hold the world currency.
The national debt is really the problem and global confidence in the American dollar.

Every other nation is suppressed or extremely suppressed from giving His message to the world.
America will be #1 and stay #1 in this world until we are suppressed from sending out this message.
It was not for preaching the Gospel.
Who has more freedom to preach the Gospel? Canada or America? It was not for preaching the Gospel.
