I remember when Boston Bruins beat Canada on the Stanley cup in 2011 and the Canadians were sore for months and even burned Vancouver down while in Boston we were having a huge party with fireworks.

The Richard Riot (Montreal, 1955)
- Cause: After a violent on-ice incident, NHL President Clarence Campbell suspended Montreal Canadiens superstar Maurice "The Rocket" Richard for the rest of the 1954–55 season, including the playoffs.
- Events: On March 17, 1955, Campbell attended the Canadiens' next home game at the Montreal Forum. Angry fans pelted him with debris, and a smoke bomb was set off, forcing the game's cancellation. This led to a riot on the streets of downtown Montreal, with looting and vandalism causing an estimated $100,000 in damages.
- Outcome: The rioting only ended after Richard himself went on the radio to plead with fans to stop.
Stanley Cup Riots (Montreal)
- 1986 Riot: Following the Canadiens' Stanley Cup victory, fans took to the streets in celebration, which evolved into a riot. Looting and vandalism resulted in over $2 million in property damage.
- 1993 Riot: After the Canadiens again won the Stanley Cup, their celebration led to a second riot in downtown Montreal. Rioting and looting on Ste-Catherine Street caused an estimated $2.5 million in damage.

- 1994 Riot: When the Canucks lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to the New York Rangers, disappointed fans rioted in downtown Vancouver. Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, but widespread vandalism caused over $1 million in damages.
- 2011 Riot: Seventeen years after the first, the Canucks' Game 7 loss to the Boston Bruins once again sparked a large-scale riot. Over 100,000 people were in the downtown fan zone, and the mayhem included burning cars and looting businesses. The estimated damage was $4 million.

- 1966 Riot (Vancouver): Rioting and bottle-throwing occurred in Vancouver on the eve of the Grey Cup game between the Ottawa Rough Riders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. More than 300 people were arrested.
- 2005 Disturbance (Vancouver): A much smaller, but still notable, incident occurred during the Grey Cup festivities. Police in riot gear were called in to quell a shoving match in a hospitality tent.
Edmonton Oilers Celebration (2006)
- When the Oilers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals, fans celebrating on Whyte Avenue caused vandalism and bonfires. Police made 49 arrests during the event.
