Looks like the world's version of the golden rule to me, whoever has the gold makes the rules. Or "might makes right". When Biden was president it was $500 million, now that Trump is president the prosecution is a bunch of bumbling idiots who have no idea how to price a fine.
 
When the Donald wins, the courts are right as rain; when he loses, they're all crooked and out to get him.

What was fraud? Did anyone ever do actual appraisals of his assets? Even then, real estate guys like Trump can have a pretty solid handle on what assets are truly worth on the market which is where market value is ultimately determined and at the time of an actual sale. IOW there is such a thing as future value some of which can be baked in by a current owner. I knew an older banker decades ago who advised me to always cross out that little statement about value when signing a form financial statement and insert "estimate".

But what did the ruling say? That he was innocent? Clean as a box of Kleenex? Or did it say that he was guilty but the fine was not proportionate?

As I understand it's still under appeal with some of the judges who overturned the fine making some interesting comments about the entire case.

Well he admitted he was looking at this with a jaundiced eye. So it appears to be a problem with their liver. We knew they were lily livered but it appears to have gotten worse.
