And for Hebrews sunset was not only the end of the previous day, but the beginning of the next day. Since the resurrection of Christ was depicted in the Feast of First Fruits, and the first fruits were offered on the first day of the week, it follows that Christ arose sometime between sunset on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday. He was not in the tomb between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. (or sunrise) according to the Gospels: And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. (Mk 16:2)
