You have the right to remain silent and you have the right to an attorney. If you do not exercise those rights then you are exercising your right to be stupid.
I'd be trending towards the attorney. I wouldn't say a thing 'cause everything I say can, and will be used against me in a court of law.

Don't pull a gun on an officer and he wont pull one on me? Har de Har Har! I've never pulled a gun on a cop and I've had hundreds of police guns pointed at me. (I'm 63 lol). You see all of the cops they hire are sissy's. Officer safety. So they draw with no provocation and start reciting the scared cop mantra. No thank you.

It's a nice thought, but you is wrong! They'll point guns at you if you sneeze. That aine right I tell you! Get some boys in there that arent scared.

They should draw there weapon if threated.

Sorry didn't mean other wise.

Yep and the cops told Edward429451 all that before they started lying to him. Should have listened.

One time a female cop pulled me over. Well I had just pulled in and parked on the street, going somewhere. I had my Glock 45 with me and I had it on the passenger seat. So I had a genius stroke of an idea! I quickly exited my vehicle, I was in my wife's mini van. And I locked it as I got out and closed the door, so I was separated from my weapon and maybe she wouldn't pee herself when I told her because it was out of my reach and locked up when I would tell her. Laying right on the passenger seat, open carry!

She got out and screamed at me to get back in the vehicle. I stood by my driver door and did not approach her. I said, why? you pulled me over so must want to talk about something!! and took a couple steps towards her. She was still screaming get back in my vehicle. And I said, Mamn please listen. I have a firearm in the vehicle and want to declare it to you...

Get away from the vehicle! Come here! SO I walked back and said very politely, yes mamn, what can I do for you? And it was something petty, the license plate light I think. Then she remembered the gun and wanted to talk about it. I carry for the same reason you do mamn. Dangerous world. Then she wants to retrieve the weapon. I said that isn't necessary at all. You are here over a license plate light my vehicle is locked and it is in plain view like the law says, but the issue is the light not the gun. Here I am let's get this light thing out of the way, do I get a ticket or what?

Do you mind if I search the vehicle?

Mamn, I can't let you search the vehicle. This is my wife's truck and she didn't authorize me to let people search it.

This went back and forth and I would not approach my truck until she calmed down. Then she got tired of it and left just like that. No ticket! No search. The weapon was out of my control in the locked vehicle and beyond my easy reach, so she didn't have PC for anything!

When I was largely still a youth I didnt pay some traffic ticket fines so eventually they caught up with me and arrested me. We go down and I got booked in, and see a judge tomorrow. All night in that crap house. So I'm finally settled in and sitting on a cot and some lady shows up carrying a clip board and a pen. Edward is it ok if I ask you some questions?

I thought about it for a second and said...and anything I say may be used against me in a court of law? And she said yes that's so...

So I said with all due respect to you mamn, nothing personal but, why would I want to help the state build a case against me? No thank you. And she left!

Ah, life's minor victories...

Oh, sorry. Anyone should fight back with what they got and whatever the situation calls for.

I thought you meant we should always always always cooperate with the police no matter what. And that just aint the case in today's world. It isnt about the uniform, it's about the man inside it.

Does it make you guys feel uncomfortable to know so many people carry guns now? It makes me feel good, am I weird? My fav game out n about is spot the concealed pistols, lol.

I had a similar experience as an 18 year old. I was now legal to drink and so my friends took me out and I got totally bombed. They left me at a bar that was 5 minute walk from my home. I am trying to drive home but am so drunk I can't even start the car, fortunately. So I get the bright idea to walk to my friends house (5 minutes away in the other direction) rather than just walk home. On the way I pass a police station with a nice lawn in front, and lay down to rest for a minute (this was 2 AM). I wake up a little while later and remember I had dropped the keys on the floorboards of my car. So I open the door and I am feeling around when a cop asks me what I am doing. I say I am looking for my keys, I dropped them. He asks me what kind of car I have and thinking what a stupid question that was I told him it was a volkswagen bug. Well I was feeling around the floorboards of a cop car in their parking lot. They went over to the parking lot where my car was, found the keys, called my dad who drove me home. No charges. Things are a lot nicer in the suburbs.

Now that's funny! A cop car, lol.

One time I ran out of gas in my jalopy on the innerstate in downtown Columbus Ohio. I think I was about 22. I pulled over out of gas, went around back to get my gas can. Then I went back up to retrieve my 45 which was laying on the passenger seat, got it and stuffed it into my pants mexican style, no holster. I back out of the car and turn around and a cop is standing there inches from me. I didnt zip up can he see it? I knew what I better do. I said hi ther, DAGNABBIT I RAN OUT OF GAS!! And he was just as nice as can be and offered mw a ride to get some gas. He even let me ride in the front seat!

I rode down to the gas station and back in the front seat of a cop car with a 45 on me! Man I was shaking in my boots lol! But I played it cool and everything was all right. Because, I wasn't a punk, and neither was he!

I didnt hear him pull in behind me, he was just, there when I turned around.

In the late 80's early 90's the police used to shoot criminals to injure them. To immobilize them. They then changed it so it was shoot to kill. They said the reason was it made it cheaper.

So what happens when they shoot to kill rather than injure? There is nothing to investigate. The person who was the cause of this shooter is hidden. This means people can convince other people to go on a shooting. Assassinations can be done and the person who is behind it will be hidden. When the gun man is dead, the police can use their poetry and make it look anyway they want.

Another reason they started shooting to kill, rather than injure is because of sport. The police just wanted to kill people.
Not at all accurate. Over 100 American police were killed in the line of duty in 2025. Injured people can shoot back. Since half the population and most criminals have guns, police work is much more dangerous in America than say the UK. One policeman was killed in the UK in 2025.

I know a retired police officer in Australia. He said that in Australia, if a cop shoots someone, his career is over, even if it was clearly unavoidable. That applies to NSW. I don't about the other states. No one seems to care much about the rights of the cops to pursue criminals without risk of death or serious injury.

You all mock me about it, because it not what you know already.

This is one of those topics that tends to upset a lot of people because some of us have family/friends who are cops.

I've gotten to know the good the bad and the ugly, so my perspective is from the pov of the individual. Everyone is different, but the system they are under is like so many, flawed and corrupt in many cases. Big city gts are wholesale corruption. One of my friends was a most highly decorated for bravery and achievements above all his peers. He was offered to join his departments illegal crime syndicate, but he declined. They tried to murder him. He survived, but he was badly injured and disabled.

I've honored a number of police for their honorable response to crimes. On the other hand, I've witnessed others who were scumbags with badges that should be in prison for their heinous crimes. There's no statute of limitations on their crimes. Same goes for some in other fields .
What is sad is that too many people idolize a man in a uniform as if he's Jesus, without spot or blemish.

These are the kind of cops that should not be blessed with adoration and the idolatry. In fact idolatry is strictly forbidden over 100 times in God's word.

That's true enough I guess at least from the younger crowd. But if you look at how the police are now, compared to 30 years ago, it's like nazi Germany's Gestapo moved in. It's not hard to see with youtube nowadays.

It's rude for a cop when he gets mean. They can take a benign traffic stop and make it into a life & death scenario, then all he has to say is, I made him scared.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against cops. I know most of them are just family guys like me and worked for a living. In fact I was going to be a cop and went through all the training. They was waiting on me to come get sworn in. I discovered in my youthful age at the time that, I could fix things pretty easy. I have...skills! I wont be a cop I'll go in business instead!

I assume that most people on this board are mature enough to not get in any gun fights, right? That's not hard to not get in a gun fight. I have a couple close calls but not with the cops like that! All the cops ever did to me was take away my family's money which is almost as bad lol.

One day I expect to have someone governmental knock on the door with a cipboard, public safety can we come in ask you some questions?
We are in the last days. They can knock if they want to, if I am not expecting them, then they aint crossing my threshold. That will be the control move they make. Protect the threshold of your home. No you can't come in because I didn't even answer the door!

I started answering the door armed way back when the kids were small. It was the safest way to have a loaded pistol in the house with little kids. Keep it on me, total control.

First I'm not a officer, retired state prison who took the same traning.

I say we should always obey the officer.

If the officer is wrong NOW is not is not the time for sure their are some bad ones., matter a fact my wife left for one, who was in trouble for beating up drug dealers for their drugs. Of course it was covered up.

Consider this why is the officer in your life right now?

Something he did?

The problem today is not those who carry weapons, it's the politicians who put a target on their back and when they are doing there job not taking their back.

A few days ago, an officer (don't remember it all, but think this is was the situation) officer pulled an Illegal Alien over he had no id, couldn't speak our language the officer called ICE later the officer was fired or something becasue it was a sanutauay city and aginst their policies.

I don't think officers have a problem with good guys carrying guns.

Keep in mind, if a bad guy is doing something and he sees someone with a weapon, they are his first target.

Nope, I don't think your weird, I think your looking out for yourself we all need to.

It's the natural progression of a society that excludes God's Word and has the surrogate parent (state) raise the children. It breaks my heart.

There are special academy trainers who circulate the states and push their us vs them agenda. Dumb young adults who are as impressionable as it gets are taught that every encounter could be their last. The money machine drums into their heads that they got to establish control of every contact. What often happens is the wrong person with a propensity to be a control freak escalates a simple exp inspection sticker to trump up charges. This gets promotions and raises.

Excellent, You chose a path that would not violate your conscience! As your own boss under the leadership of the Lord, you answer directly to Him instead of an employer who may tempt you to violate God's word.
Christians find it difficult to get ahead in that system.
I'm happy for you brother.
I did the same thing when I was asked to enlist as an army chaplain.

If your life is truly in imminent danger, shooting to "injure" is a good way to die. Cops have always been taught to aim for center mass with multiple rounds. If your life is not in imminent danger, you have no business shooting anyone.

Massad Ayoob gets it! I used to read his writing back in the 80's and 90's in Combat Handguns magazine. I have 2 or 3 books of his on the shelf.

It occurs to me that the gestapo would have to get inside your house to gather intelligence. Not answering the door will stop that. WHat do you if you have a cop with his foot in your door, blocking it from closing? There's only one decent answer, Do not answer the door no matter how non threatening they look.

I sent in one of those cards for to get the info mailed to you about final expenses and stuff. I didn't get the info packet in the mail. It came knocking on my door. He knocked for a long time and I didn't answer it, I', in no mood for salesman.

He left a card and a note. I called him back and it came out that this was because of the card I sent in. But it said I will receive a packet with the info. I called him and said who does business like that? You promise me some mail and show up knocking on my door? Now that was untrustworthy and you want me to do business with you? Fat chance now buddie. I hung up.

Fast forward a month or two and I seen another advertisement, not the same one it was different, so I sent it in. Same thing we will mail you the info packet. 3 days later the same guy is knocking on my door! I didn't answer the door and he got tired of waiting so he starts calling my phone. I have a dog and he sure was barking at the guy, lol. I answered the phone and he told me who he was and I told him we already went thru this. That's too shifty for me to do business with. Besides I'm not even home....

And my dog barks again and he can hear him at the same time I say I'm not home. He says You Are home because I can hear the dog!!!

So I says Uh-Oh you caught me, I am home and you Still can not make me come to the door for you and I wont. So he had to leave. He wanted in awful bad. Now he was prolly an ok guy. Just young and working hard. But you can't start off business transactions with a lie.

It's not illegal to not answer the door to a cop. Our threshold is sacred and on our side is more rights than they ever dreamed about. So they have to play it slick and get us to invite them in, and once they are in you are largely in their control. I don't like that.

Combat Handguns was my favorite magazine.
I've recommended Mass's book In the Gravest Extreme to my Crime Prevention and Self Defense students.
What are the chances of two of us who've read his books being on the same Christian forum? Lol!
That's pretty cool.

The high pressured sales from that mail in packet you sent sounds way too shady.
I wouldn't think twice about a Baptist or a Mormon knocking on the door for a church invite, but an unexpected salesman from a mail in ad is mighty odd.

I'm not fan of attorneys, but this one used to be a West Virginia Prosecutor. He decided to become a defender instead, for constitutional rights violations against individuals. Some of his videos are educational and practical.
For instance, I agree with what you said. Here's an expansion on the theme to your yard. It's refered to in legal terms as "Curtilage." It's what you said about the threshold. It's like a mote to your castle.

This man reminds me of a farmer that I used to work with. I don't blame his attitude whatsoever. He was a WW2 veteran who didn't take gruff from anyone.
And If I were his boy, for his protection I would have strongly advised him to go into the house, record and later ID the man for any reason he may give him to sue him in his personal capacity AND his employer. That way the bad cop loses his future bonding (it's like insurance), and the town council/chief of police is less likely to hire those types again. The bad cop can be charged criminally and also culpable for paying a potential multi million dollar suit for damages, etc.
I'm not a lawyer, but have spent a lot of time in law school and studying these type of cases. A local friend won a major land mark case. There are some successful major civil/constitutional rights firms that work pro bono. Hope you and yours never need one.

I do know about curtilage laws but don't put a heck of a lot of stock in them. If you barely come outside, you are in your curtilage of the house, but...try to go back in now without a fight! They do Not want you in your house unless they are too so it still comes down to the front door! Don't open the door!
