@Pilgrimshope

Here is detailed study on 2 Cor 3. I hope you find it helpful, because Paul is not teaching against what Jesus taught, but can be hard to understand at times.
I got this far

“Paul is not teaching against what Jesus taught,”

Because of course pul didn’t preach against anything Jesus taught his disciples. you’ve already began a false pretense for a position I’ve never taken .

And yes it can be hard to understand if we don’t understand who gave the law and who preached grace and truth or where the law ends and gospel begins I agree ot of people don’t understand Paul’s writings

Now back to what I was actually saying

“For the law was given by Moses,

but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭

The sabbath is a commandment written on a stone tablet and given to moses for the ancient tribes of isreal

These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore;for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭31:1, 12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul is specifically speaking of the Ten Commandments written on stone here and the fact that they administer death not life

“But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, ( very clearly he’s talking about the Ten Commandments ) was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:7, 12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He’s clearly talking about this

“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭31:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Bible is an apocalypse you take the earlier information and then the New Testament makes sense forninsrance where Paul says of Moses covenant “ the ministration of death written and engraved on stones “

The sabbath commandment is part of the old covenant it doesn’t carry over and then get preached to people with the gospel its need ended at the cross . It was only ever a shadow and pattern for the New Testament

your right that Paul didn’t teach anything opposing what Christ taught . When you see for instance luke remember Jesus is speaking to people all sworn by circumcision to keep all the law it changed when he died and fulfilled it

What I’m saying the law of Moses commands the sabbath keeping. Paul is not talking about Jesus there he’s talking about the covenant written by Moses in his book which included the Ten Commandments

The law came through Moses mediation not Christs mediation. We don’t have to keep a sabbath in order to be sanctified we’re sanctified by the blood of Christ apart from the works of the law of Moses

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

for a non believer trying to worship God sending them to the law would be the right move because they’ve rejected the living God in Christ maybe the rocks will help

So Gentiles can worship other gods, vain His holy name, covet, murder and steal? They don't have to keep the greatest commandments as it is not stated here either. And we can ignore all of the teachings of Jesus because Paul said according to you, they only have to keep these 4 things in Acts 15?

Yet, the Gentiles were keeping every Sabbath with the apostles Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 18:4 because Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man. Man does not spell Jew.

I see why Paul has a warning about his writings.
Can you read?

Acts 15:19-20
Therefore, it is my judgment that we do not cause trouble for those from the Gentiles who are turning to God,
but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols, from acts of sexual immorality,
from what has been strangled, and from blood.

No mention of 'the ten commandments', no mention of the sabbath, absolutely no law at all.

It is beyond any doubt that the Gentiles never had the law, the yoke of slavery.

Can the Gentiles murder and covet now that there not under the letter of the law?

Well no, they can't, because the law which they are not under tells them what sin is.

You don't have to be under the law to understand what the law identifies as sin.

A Gentile in the first century could not obey the sabbath commandment.

For some reason unknown to me you do not understand that Rome worked seven
days straight. It would be two centuries before a Roman had a day off. Even then
the Romans and everybody else only had a Sunday off.

The Gentiles never practiced a sabbath day until the nineteenth century.

Can you see this important point?

Really, the 10 Commandments are Christianity 101. It always surprises me when I encounter a self professed Christian in any community discussion board that insists they no longer apply for those in Christ.

I of course don't believe them. I don't think they really believe what they're claiming either.
It's the law that Christians are not under.

The moral instruction of the prophets, the law, and the deeds of the flesh.

Fully notify any Christian what sin is all about.

You don't need to be under the law to know that!

Love fulfills the law anyway.

“the 10 Commandments are Christianity 101. “

the gospel isn’t Christianity 101 ?

“The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭

thats Christianity.

This is not Christianity it’s a command of Moses law to the children of Israel it’s closer to Judaism 101 than Christianity

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

Christianity
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:4‬ ‭

Not Christianity

“But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

(… peters answer )Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

james final sentance and letter sent to the church

forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭15:5, 10-11, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Keeping The law of Moses to israel before the gospel has nothing to do with Christianity, it condemns the world and teaches us what sin is and why death came and can’t save anyone

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Can’t save or justify anyone can only condemn people for sins and hold the world guilty

airs alright for people to think they need to keep the sabbath it’s a subversion of others souls when they insist that they also must, it’s definately not Christianity but requires admission for Judaism one of thier most important rules in thier law

When anyone insists the Sabbath is done away with and there is not one iota of scripture proof to sustain that claim, that's not the Gospel.

When Jesus said upon two laws, love God with all our mind and heart and our neighbor as ourself, hang all his laws and the prophets, and someone claims the 10 Commandments no longer apply, when those Commands reflect those two loves, that's not the Gospel.

When you recall those 10 that's kind of scary.
Yes, its lawlessness. :)

Exactly what we don't want to hear when Jesus comes

Mat 7:23 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Its where we are today in the world. Can you imagine if everyone was keeping God's law? It would be heaven.

Of course not..... what did Jesus tell us were our two commandments? He also said that in these two commandments, ALL of the law and prophets are contained.
Love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself.
If we do those two things, we WILL be keeping all the commandments....

People don't realize the gospel is repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

Luke 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Repent from what? Sin (breaking God's law) and turn to God.

And here are the details of those greatest commandments- they came right from the Ten

Rom 13:9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” [a]“You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The summary does not delete the details

Yes, the whole bible hangs on love to God, love to neighbor, the Ten Commandments show us how to love God and our neighbor. God's perfect law converting the soul written by our perfect Savior. :)

True!

God speaks of this right in the Ten Commandments. Hopefully His Word means something to someone out there….

Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

It started at Creation, made for man Mark 2:27 man was made in the image and likeness of God to follow Him who kept the Sabbath at Creation for mans example.
Did God Speak to the whole world or just only those who are there at the time?

It seems some here doubt the words of Paul, that he speaks of a different path to salvation than the words of Jesus. Hogwash!

3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

The Law
“the law was our tutor” (Galatians 3:24)

1. The Law as a Guardian
In ancient culture, a tutor or paidagogos was a servant entrusted with the moral and educational oversight of children. The tutor guided, disciplined, and prepared the child for maturity. Similarly, the Law served as a guardian, guiding God’s people and revealing His standards for holy living.
• For Christians today, this means that the Law provides a foundation for understanding God’s will and moral order. It teaches principles of justice, mercy, and holiness that remain relevant (e.g., the Ten Commandments).
• However, its role as a tutor is transitional—it points beyond itself to something greater: Christ.

2. The Law Reveals Our Need for Christ
Paul explains that the Law’s ultimate purpose was to make humanity aware of sin:
“Through the law comes knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20).
The Law exposed humanity’s inability to meet God’s perfect standards, thereby showing the need for a Savior.
• For Christians, the Law is a reminder of our dependence on grace. It highlights the futility of trying to achieve righteousness through works and directs us to Jesus, who perfectly fulfilled the Law (Matthew 5:17).
• It brings us to the foot of the cross, where we find justification through faith, not by works of the Law (Galatians 2:16).

3. The Law Is No Longer a Means of Justification

Paul makes it clear that “we are no longer under a tutor” (Galatians 3:25) because faith in Christ has brought maturity. Christians are justified by faith, not by adherence to the Law.
• This does not mean the Law is irrelevant. Rather, its role has shifted. It no longer condemns believers because Christ has fulfilled its demands and taken its curse upon Himself (Galatians 3:13).
• The Christian now lives under grace (Romans 6:14), empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey God out of love, not obligation.

4. The Law as a Guide for Holy Living

While the Law no longer holds authority to justify or condemn, it still serves as a guide for sanctification. Paul affirms this in Romans 7:12:
“The law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.”
For Christians, the moral principles of the Law (e.g., love, justice, faithfulness) remain a reflection of God’s character. They guide us in living out our faith in a way that honors Him.
Jesus summarized the Law in two commandments: love for God and love for neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40). These principles form the basis of Christian ethics and behavior.

5. The Law Points to Freedom in Christ
Ironically, the Law that once enslaved (by revealing sin and imposing penalties) now points to the freedom found in Christ. In Him, believers are freed from the burden of trying to earn salvation and are instead called to live in the liberty of grace:
“For freedom Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1).
• This freedom is not a license to sin but a call to live in the Spirit, where the righteous requirements of the Law are fulfilled through love and faith (Romans 8:4; Galatians 5:13-14).

Conclusion
For Christians today, the Law remains a vital part of God’s revelation. It is a tutor that led us to Christ, exposing our sin and showing our need for His saving grace. While it no longer has the power to justify or condemn those in Christ, it continues to guide believers in holy living and reflects God’s unchanging character. Ultimately, the Law’s purpose is fulfilled in Jesus, who empowers His followers to live in freedom and obedience through the Spirit.

Can you point out where Paul said the law He is referring to in Galatians is the 10 commandments. The law he keeps mentioning in Galatians over and over again is the law of circumcision the premise of Galatians that the Jews were teaching the gentiles needed to be circumcised in order to hear the gospel Gal 2:3 and to be saved Acts 15:1 This is the works of the law Paul is referring to what was written in the book of the law which was circumcision and the animal sacrifices. Not the Ten Commandments written personally by God.

Paul contrasted the law of circumcision with the commandments of God and said this:

1 Cor 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.
