Here is detailed study on 2 Cor 3. I hope you find it helpful, because Paul is not teaching against what Jesus taught, but can be hard to understand at times.
Here is detailed study on 2 Cor 3. I hope you find it helpful, because Paul is not teaching against what Jesus taught, but can be hard to understand at times.
“Paul is not teaching against what Jesus taught,”
Because of course pul didn’t preach against anything Jesus taught his disciples. you’ve already began a false pretense for a position I’ve never taken .
And yes it can be hard to understand if we don’t understand who gave the law and who preached grace and truth or where the law ends and gospel begins I agree ot of people don’t understand Paul’s writings
Now back to what I was actually saying
“For the law was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
John 1:17
The sabbath is a commandment written on a stone tablet and given to moses for the ancient tribes of isreal
These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.”
Deuteronomy 29:1 KJV
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore;for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
Exodus 31:1, 12-15 KJV
Paul is specifically speaking of the Ten Commandments written on stone here and the fact that they administer death not life
“But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, ( very clearly he’s talking about the Ten Commandments ) was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.”
2 Corinthians 3:7, 12-15 KJV
He’s clearly talking about this
“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.”
Exodus 31:16-18 KJV
The Bible is an apocalypse you take the earlier information and then the New Testament makes sense forninsrance where Paul says of Moses covenant “ the ministration of death written and engraved on stones “
The sabbath commandment is part of the old covenant it doesn’t carry over and then get preached to people with the gospel its need ended at the cross . It was only ever a shadow and pattern for the New Testament
your right that Paul didn’t teach anything opposing what Christ taught . When you see for instance luke remember Jesus is speaking to people all sworn by circumcision to keep all the law it changed when he died and fulfilled it
What I’m saying the law of Moses commands the sabbath keeping. Paul is not talking about Jesus there he’s talking about the covenant written by Moses in his book which included the Ten Commandments
The law came through Moses mediation not Christs mediation. We don’t have to keep a sabbath in order to be sanctified we’re sanctified by the blood of Christ apart from the works of the law of Moses
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
Romans 10:4 KJV
for a non believer trying to worship God sending them to the law would be the right move because they’ve rejected the living God in Christ maybe the rocks will help
