A friend toured Winchester in Alton , Il. they didn't seem as precautious of the powder as much as the priming compound, it was stored under water.

Mark at God, Family Guns, put this out on his experience with reliability in 22lr, I will be looking more into the Ruger SR22, I know he reported the most sold firearm in the U.S. first quarter of 2025 was the Taurus G3C. He reported he he has NEVER had a failure with his SR22.(y):)

You watch him too huh? Me too. I haven't been drawn towards the sr22 I went Walther P22 instead. (The next one will be a MK IV ! I used to have one and stupidly let go of it. That thing was reliable!)

I have become partial to Browning, I have heard they still stone the triggers, they are always nice. That and a S&W 41, always a dandy.
Have a little 3" barrel, 8 round, taurus 22 that has become a favorite.

I'm not sure if I can believe that though. Mine is PQQ like he calls it so I know what pistol he was talking about and I have had some failures with it. Not very many but enough to make me think twice about carrying one for defense. As we all know a very determined man can get by with a 22, with head shots probly! I dunno I'll have to decide on that if the time is right!

Meantime I don't carry a PQQ anymore. I traced to one of the magazines but's still the PQQ system. (Is it PPQ or PQQ?)

This PPQ was a nice gun before I wore it into the dirt the problem with the PPQ in my eyes is, the ppq doesn't have durability over time. Not even the magazines! I started carrying my 45 again~

Browning sells a 22 bottom=eject rifle that I'd like to own!

Been reading up on drop in replacement for R22, pretty interesting![/QUOTE

I read that it's cpming over the border from mexico. I never used any of that but I was close to it in Colorado. It worked good even tho it came from a normal distributor.

I'm really surprised how many reliable models are reported in the comments section.

I'm also surprised how many aftermarket triggers are available for that Taurus.
I never dreamed that aftermarket parts for 22s, etc would ever be so abundant.

A sign of the ongoing changes in the shooting community, this should be more welcoming for women coming into these sports, a very positive thing.
Taurus aftermarket parts is indeed a surprise.

I'm still amazed at the reliability of the Taurus TX-22.... and they hold 15 rounds, instead of the "standard" 10....
The compact version only holds 13, though.
I love my Ruger MkII... 5.5" bull barrel, stainless steel.... but... it's a little heavy, and, again, 10 shots. But it is the one gun I'll never get rid of. I've had it since the mid-80's, IIRC, and it's had thousands of rounds of ammo through it.... still looks new.

I did a search for a P322 so I could check it over and couldn't find one so they must not be out yet. A 4" barrel is prolly too short a 22 needs more barrel to gain velocity. I've seen the sad truth of 22LR from short barrels over a chronograph.

Your fav NAA Mini-revolver (with the short barrel), get about barely over 900 fps with Stingers! Sad. (1 1/8") So I snapped up one of those 1860 C 22 Mag Hoglegs. It's nice to be able to hit targets way way beyond 7 feet. All the way out to Squirrel and rabbit range! I didn't chronograph the 6" Hogleg yet, it's too new I didnt get to it this summer.

I doubt I'll buy a Sig. Next one is steel. A MK IV I'll settle for aluminum lol. As long as it's not plastic.

I prefer metal over plastic too.
Can't go wrong with a Mk IV.
I miss mine after it was stolen.
