I guess those folks have fun with that, but all that "falling over backward" shooting is just silly, IMHO. It's ok for playing a game, but if you want to watch true fast draw, real world shooting, try to find some old videos of Bill Jordan and his shooting exhibitions. There are several others who were incredibly fast, as well, without all the gyrations, rocking backwards, etc... Bill Jordan would balance a ping pong ball on the back of his hand, above his holster, then draw and fire, hitting the target, and the ping pong ball would be in his holster....
If you want to see incredibly fast shooting, goober Jerry Miculek, and watch his videos of unbelievably fast shooting with a revolver. 6 shots, reload, and 6 more shots in under 3 seconds? Unreal....

I agree. My father was in the CFDA but I was not. The part about it all is that because he did he had a rug hanging in our back yard with targets on it so he could shoot wax over and over at it and it would hit the target on the carpet and fall on a sheet on the ground. We would pick them back up and melt them in a pan and use a .45 case to punch them out of the wax again. Over and over hundreds of thousands of times for only the cost of the primers. Everyone shoots different but over and over with a practice round I think is how to learn to shoot. After eliminating all the errors then, well the same pistol still shoots real ammo.

I used to reload for 12 GA along with everything else. I even still have a supply of 209's and a slug mould! And all sorts of reloading components for the slugs and regular shells. I was consolidating my reloading gear and the 12ga press did not make the cut! Though I still have the mould and wads n stuff. I had a slug recipe that was 10X more accurate the Rem Sluggers ever were! I could hit a paper plate (9") at 100 yds off hand with an 870 and 18" police trade in barrel with that load with Unique powder.

So when you talk about working the brass by drilling it for a 209...It makes me wonder how they do it, what size and so forth.

You can just buy them already set up for .45 or .38 or make your own. There's other places to buy them also on the web. https://cowboyfastdraw.com/product-category/wax-bullets-shells-accessories/

Just for reference.... this is Bill Jordan... he was in the Border Patrol, and they got him to do shooting exhibitions all around the country, as a recruiting effort.
He was a big guy.... had huge hands.... in this picture, he's shooting his favorite full size S&W Model 19 .357.... looks like a toy...

They still have to cock it, and in CFDA their times are averaging in the 1/3 of a second range. That's a lot to do with the thumb in that time period. They can't do that in CFDA and have a hope of winning., there just aint time.

Your thinking cock the hammer with your thumb's finger print and then move it to the left of the hammer there's not enough time to do that your correct. Their thumb print is already parked left of the hammer and the inside(second segment of bones in thumb) is on the hammer and cocks it. The tip of their thumb is already where it goes beginning to end.

You missed the joke! You didn't see it and put it together, lol!

Ok I'll tell you the tooth, lol. That gun is an 1860 and it isnt an 1860. Meaning it's not 45 Colt! It is a NAA 1860 6C 22 Mag/LR convertible. So it aint no CFDA pistol for sure!

I've had a few of those NAA 22 Mags before and once even a Freedom Arms 22 Min-Revo !! They was first made by Freedom Arms and there was two guys, partners and they decided to part company and the guy got the rights to the Mini-Revo line as part of the deal, and NAA was born! I could kick myself for letting that one get away.

But this 6" barreled 22 mag has got to be the goofiest looking gun you have ever seen before! But I thought what if I could actually make hits with it past spitting distance all the way out to rabbit and squirrel distances? Then it would be useful. So I bought one. And the verdict is, wow. It looks like a toy but when you heft it and handle it and so forth it has the heft and feel of quality, just small. But not that small because 22 mag can use all the barrel it can get! And 6" aint bad! I can hit with it. It brought out the guns versatility and usefulness. No longer is the 22 Mini only for backup defense.

The whole gun loaded with 22 Mags only weighs 10.8 oz! And gives me 5 shots. I realized the little blue thing slipped around the extra cylinder is for carrying the extra cylinder loaded as a backup to the gun.

I might as well list the cons of it too in fairness. First it's no pocket gun anymore. Second is I can not see the front sight before I cock it! I had to have that crossdraw holster made for it and that cost too much, lol. They did a good job though! It's a great holster. The guy wouldn't make me a extra cylinder belt pouch for it! Grrr.

That was 19 huh? That was what dad bought for mom. I know who he is, my dad brought his book home and it became his coffee table book. It had that picture on it! "No Second Place Winner" Bill Jordan. RIP

Here's an old video of Jordan but it hard to hear because it's old(I used earbuds because it gets loud then the volume fades in and out) . At around the 3:40 second point he explains using wax bullets with no powder but the primer only. The wax bullet practice round is from well back in time being used as a cheap effective way to train.

Perhaps the newer primers no longer use mercury?
Stevens used to make a "Parlor Pistol, single shot, 22 short case necked down to a BB size, for indoor target practice.
Single shot pellet pistol is great indoors too.

I have been reading a lot of ww2 history, here is the cavity magnetron, essential to the Proximity fuse. There were at one time 82% success knocking out V1's at one yttime with the proximity fuse, first used during the Ardennes offensive, artillery officer defied orders, within 2 days, SHAEF approved use. The Germans gave up as they considered it impossible.

A couple of months ago, my LGS got in a used Browning Buckmark and had it marked for a low price. Too good to pass up. Today, I finally had the chance to take it to the range. It fits my hand perfectly, points naturally and has an excellent trigger. Offhand, all shots in 10” at 50 yards.

Had a couple feeding issues. I might have to disassemble, clean and lube the magazine. Maybe even stretch the mag spring. Still, had a great time burning through 22’s with it and my old Ruger 10/22.

I think the mercury has been gone from primers for a while now... I think they use something like lead styphnate, or something like that... I'll have to goober it...

very interesting!
Thank you !

I used to work for Gas Guns, which was a gas delayed blowback 1911 design that also employed a fixed barrel.
When I see something like this, my ears perk up and eyes are like 😲.

It was similar to the beginning description in this except for the slide.

Well, I think I got my new .308 rifle tuned in.... this is the Ruger American "Hunter" in .308. I've heard reports of the good accuracy of these rifles, and I think they must be mostly true...
These 4 targets were at 100yds, 5 shots each. This was with a 150g bullet. Next, I'll try to work up a load with the 165g bullets....
